Why do all these instalment cluster displays look like the have the same graphical UI of a android phone form the mid 2000s
Because they are the same junk
I dunno the poo looking UI is why I haven’t bought one
there was no android in mid 2000s
This is typical for many Asian manufacturers, who think in terms of utility design. It is functioning = it is good enough. They just can’t recognize what is ugly and old, and what is modern and fresh. To make ui same look like original tesla ui is kind of unnecessary expenses and work for them, and they want to be as cheap as possible, to get more clients.
@@maxymko cant say that if you look at new bmws and mercedes lol
Great review as always Shiva, a couple of questions, where does the audio for carplay etc come out, is it from the car speakers? also is there a charge / discharge line on the display?
Always great content for you. Honest objective and informative. Very excited to get one of these at some point. I will stay tuned to you channel.
Thank you so much for your support to the channel.
if they can add integrated vents near the top and bottom of the screen (like the refreshed X and S) it would greatly enhance the air flow
Hardware integration is nice, the joint in the middle dont bother me much as its behind the center screen, but the UI and no steering wheel buttons control is a huge no no, when in carplay mode, theres no need for the huge battery icon and time and date on the left side, could make it smaller, same for the speedo that takes too much space, better use the space for the Carplay mode
Love this channel - is there a hud that you actually recommend, or a top 5 list? The challenge with many of these is that they all look/feel approximately the same, from the distance.
The best product and best video.
From Spain
Thank you so much for the review. I brought the updated one that connects directly to the car for $400 online. It’s worth every penny.
Hello can i see link?
They should make it available for the new Tesla model 3 Highland with a HUD if possible, because this is one of the few things missing.
Of course it needs to also support Android Auto, as I will never use an iPhone.
It should also show blindspot warning like other displays if it could control the ambient light in each side it would be really smart.
It should show speed limits.
A front camera could also be good.
Question with model3 are they going to refresh it for the refresh of the model 3 because I really loved love it it's the best one out there
If you wanna replace the wood to carbon fiber etc, what are the dimensions of the fake wood? Same as OEM panel or thinner?
Hi Shiva, have you reviewed any of the auto-presenting door handles? I searched and could not find in your videos. I would think this would be a widely desired feature to avoid the awful "alcatraz" double-move door opening process. As I'm considering buying my first Tesla Model 3, I would really enjoy seeing you review one or more of those motorized door handles.
They should fix it so that airflow comes from the front of the screen, that would be awesome! That and the other issues you mentioned would make it great. You didn’t mention if CarPlay comes through the speakers but I guess it does.
The design on the display looks very nice (except for that middle piece that the color doesn't match).
I would have liked to see the airflow effect not only on the face but on the body itself, hands and what happens if you point the vents downward.
Also the UI is very cartoonish and they could do a better job at it. The red seems to colorbleed a bit due to the intensity. Wish they'd give an option to have no car display on it just a speedo front and center that could move out of the way in the event Carplay starts. I have Android so this is definitely a no go for me.
Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it. I will definitely consider doing different testing for airflow in the future.
so what do you sacrifice to install this? I heard something stops working for these systems to be installed. Is it the self-driving stuff?
great, almost perfect 👍
...it would be so awesome with a Head up Display Projector on the back ☝️🤓💡
Many thanks Shive for this review.
From which country this product shipped?
Looks way better than everything else. How it react on went direction changes? Btw like your honest reviews.
That definitely made it look much better
I have heard that there are slight differences in how a dashboard connects in a 2023 Model Y built in Fremont vs one built in Austin. Did they mention if there were any limits to which car it would install on?
Nice, bro, tky!!
Ramro raichha ! Does the steering scroll also not work for controlling the music once in the carplay mode. For example: pause, play, skip, etc. ?
can you tell me a couple of things? does the audio work properly. In other words while you’re in CarPlay can you select music and have it play out of the Tesla speakers? Does the phone also work from CarPlay or is it still tied to the Tesla app? Does the phone still tie to Tesla and CarPlay at the same time? Or if CarPlay is enabled, is your phone disabled on the Tesla side? I hope that makes sense. The last console from a different manufacturer I tried I sent back because the audio was terrible, basically didn’t work and it completely disconnected from Tesla.
The lack of control using the steering wheel scroll buttons makes this a non-starter for me. That feature is why I bought the Hansshow 10.25" display last December. I love being able to make selections from the steering wheel while driving. I also like the front camera on the Hansshow when I'm parking against a front parking curb. But this unit has a nice look for the cluster, although I dislike the terrible joint in the center of the dash. I would have to cover it with a vinyl strip to hide the joints.
Thanks for your feedback! I agree, the lack of steering wheel control is a big miss and hope they can make it work through software update. I was also sad to not see the front camera integrated.
if you play music or use waze does the audio play from the Hansshow unit or the car audio?
@@chefboyartty Music will come from car audio.
@@kenjohns8245 ty so much, that's what I'll be getting to then.
Link that one if you can.. would love to see it!
Super cool accessory. I am likely buying a 3 soon I will keep this in mind.
Did you ever buy a 3?
@@joshuawilliams3831no I bought a used Porsche Panamera instead, talk about a high quality car!
Did they fix the firewall issue? if so what is the information for the part to resolve it?
Where do I order for a Right Hand Drive version? also did you try a metric flange nut 6mm or 8mm probably, air vents in the new peice would be an idea too
I was wondering what you do with all these add-on displays you review? I particularly liked the one that had the built in vent under the display.
Your incredible videos makes me check your channel once a day. Hopefully I can save up enough money to buy this
Thank you so much for your support!
Thank you for the update. This looks promising. Maybe Version 2 will be good. No Android Auto, mismatching color, no black or carbon fiber option and a few other miscellaneous items makes it a miss for me.
Would there be any option to see this Screen in the new Model 3 Highlan? Also with android auto compatibility..
@ShivaSapkota Does this dash carplay work with the Tesla’s audio?
My phone usually connects automatically to the car right now - after installing this unit - will my phone connect to the car or to the new unit? If you could elaborate on this, that would be great - bit confused on how it would be able to connect to both at once - where are phone calls going to come through for example?
Have they ever thought of adding Sirius XM? Or do you know of any way to add it so it doesn't have to utilize cell phone, I don't always have cell signal where I travel to
Regarding the airflow. If I have it set to blow onto my chest it with this display cluster will it now hit my face which I don’t want?
Does the steering wheel block the screen? Especially if you keep the steering wheel low?
A lot of screen glare on the unit was it noticeable when your driving?
IS there any versión of this Screen for the Tesla Model 3 Highland ? Also It might interesting to add Android Auto on It.
Thanks
Looks good I’ll pass on this for my Y but if they make this for upcoming Cybertruck I’ll def get it!
What option do you recommend for Android Auto?
It's a shame, product looks really good and it would be an instant buy if it ever had a well polished software design and animations :(
Still hoping to see such a product tested on your channel someday :)
What is that in front of your cupholders those buttons?
what about the new model 3 does it fit ?
Hello,it's possible to looking vidéo on driving with this? Thk
Since the full dash is almost 5ft long, the most likely reason for splitting it in two is to save on shipping costs.
The airflow and heat is big thing for me. Live in Canada where our winters get pretty cold so along with heated seats we would like more heat and airflow to keep us warm while driving. Love the look though just if they could somehow direct more airflow towards driver. Going from a jeep where the heat sucked we don't want to have to go through that again
I don't know why people are obsessed with having a cluster right in front of them when there is a perfectly good one in the center. And if you get the swivel kit it makes the center screen more accessible.
Yup - for this price I can envision something more line space X .. a monitor with voice command open and close and allow air flow .. this one is like going back to the future
In my case, even though I have the swivel kit for the center screen, I got the Hansshow front cluster unit to allow the use of CarPlay and the ease of using it with the steering wheel controls.
I agree, this makes no sense. Plus you run the risk of error, and the car 'freaks out'. The swivel kit makes the most sense
My thoughts on one solid piece. So it was cheaper to build those different colored metal covers vs the extra shipping cost? Couldn't of saved much. The android auto is a deal breaker for me. But I gotta say its still an amazing upgrade and looks fantastic.
Great review! This would have been an instant buy for me if CarPlay could go full widescreen across the entire screen.
Thank you very much for your feedback!
In addition to showing open doors, does it show Trunk or Frunk Status? I know I'm reaching here, but does it indicate window status?
Did they give any indication as to whether Autopilot Nag or FSD Nag would be supported?
You have an EXCELLENT channel, I love the practical, real world testing you do. I just bought my S3XY buttons with your code, so thank you for that!
Thank you so much! It does show trunk and frunk but no windows haha. It shows brake lights too. No FSD nag but likely autopilot. I will double check. Thanks.
Great product review!
Thank you!
Great review!!!
Only other things missing which I noticed, that some competitors now have, is FSD Nag and blind spot warning. Looks like great product. Can’t wait to see your review of update mini cluster with CarPlay to see which I want.
Also not a DIY installer, so I will need to find good installer for this in Los Angeles. Any suggestions?
Who has blind spot and fsd?
The mini 6 1/2 inch steering wheel display … but no CarPlay yet … Shiva said he will do review on newer CarPlay version very soon.
I just got the mini screen with Carplay and AA delivered. I will work on a video asap. Thanks.
Can you Air play while driving?
Are you saying that you were able to get this to work with model Y's made in Austin? On their website they are saying that is not supported.
Does it fit in a 2022 model 3?
It's too bad it doesn't display the odometer and tire pressure. That's my favorite thing about my MSX-Pro because you can't see that stuff on the Tesla screen without navigating through the settings menus. Hopefully they will add that with a software update in the future, as well as adding a black color option. If they did these things I would consider buying it.
Does this also work for the new model Y 2024 ?
Keeps getting better. I have a beautiful Hills dark wood dash that would be destroyed by this install. With my yoke, it would be sweet otherwise.
I installed this screen and my phone always chooses the Bluetooth connection of this screen as the primary and not of the car. This would he fine but I get no audio from this and can’t figure out if there’s an extra connection I’m missing or if my unit is defective.
PLEASE READ: This is by far the most integrated instrument cluster display but do keep in mind that it doesn't support Android Auto and it still blocks decent amount of airflow (less than other units in the past) unless your fan speed is set to high. Contrary to what I said in the video, they created a special plug to make this work in INTEL versions too. I hadn't seen the product listing until this morning and the price is $629 using my code. That is still a bit higher than I was hoping for but they do send an entire new dash and this type of cluster generally has cost over $800 in the past. Thank you.
I would get this if they had a front view camera.
Has TMA gotten back to you about the likelihood of steering wheel controls, UI updates, etc?
@@toddswire9581 I highly doubt they will develop it further but they are looking at the possibility of adding steering wheel funtions. I think the issue is the controller box. Thank you.
@@ShivaSapkota you mean they are not going to develop the UI any further but potentially look at adding the steering wheel controls?
@@toddswire9581 Yes, they said the UI upgrades were a bit difficult on this one compared to the other mini one. I asked them to figure out the steering wheel control and they are actively looking into it.
Will they add android auto? Where will phone calls come out? The phone call situation has been a problem for all these devices.
Do these 2n displays void warranty??
Why does the clock show 10pm when it’s broad daylight. Doesn’t it sync the clock with the car?
How about the air vents being blocked ?
Wish the sun shade cove the top. The glare might be issue.
Buttons are too small but better than no apple play
Thanks for another well done, and informative video. Since I’m not looking to replace the entire front console (plus already swapped wood for carbon fiber), so this is not for me. HOWEVER, I noticed the 6” steering wheel mount display on the TMA website now includes a touch screen variant having CarPlay - any chance you can review this for us?
Thank you! Yes, just got that delivered today. I will be working on that video asap.
Fabulous! Also, if possible, please indicate if all features are compatible with FSD beta AP enabled vehicles.
@@chrisc1866 Will do. Thanks!
does anybody know where you can get a screen protector for it?
Good video, but to be honest it’s too bulky and I don’t really like the graphics. Why can’t they match typography, lines and colors to match 100% with Tesla?
Thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
I agree with most of your likes and dislikes. The dealbreaker is no front camera. I have the original Hansshow display with the front camera and GPS. I use the front camera every day in the garage to keep from running into my motorcycle. Lol. Please keep us updated on the changes. Thank you again for a great review.
Thank you very much for your feedback!
Please let us know when all the electrical comnections are updated and the kilometer display us changed. Also, can you asl the to add Android Auto? Thank you
Also, daylight and night screens. Thanks again.
This looks alright. Too bad about the UI. The round display you just reviewed has by far the best interface, but round screens are kind of cheesy. Hopefully whatever chinese factory that is making the round displays will transition to making rectangular ones too with the same ui.
Are there any Car play units that get the audio/music to the Tesla 's speakers?
I would think: connect phone to unit via Bluetooth, and the connect unit (pretending to be a phone) to car via Bluetooth.
Or is there some fundamental problem with that?
Yeah, the one from TSportLine does.
Another great shakedown of an interesting new product. I remain unconvinced I need more clutter that simply repeats info already available on the center display. Since camera view cannot be enabled on any of these supplemental displays, they just make no sense to me at all. Even if I LOVED this unit, I'd have to pass. My car is Intel, white interior and I use Android. Keep up the great work, Shiva. I look forward to each new video you produce. Cheers.
Thank you so much for always supporting my content. I really appreciate it. Thanks for your feedback, I hope one day we can have the side camera view in these displays :)
Side camera view would be great. The issue preventing it is most likely lack of access to the video feed without having to splice the connection. We have to remember that the feed goes directly to the autopilot computer, any degradation in signal caused by splicing may cause issues with the AP guidance algos. If there was a test port that provides a duplicated video feed on the board, this would be doable but I'm not sure if that exists.
Looks very interesting
Thank you!
Got this installed. Looks good. But now I am getting a message
“Climate control not available due to system fault”
Not sure If anyone else had the same issue. Any suggestions to troubleshoot this?
Shiva, please use heat shrink tube to insulate, not black tape.
Where can I get installed in I lived in West palm Florida.
Hi. How can I download last firmware update?
If this is installed would this void any warranty from Tesla?
my next purchase!
Hope you enjoy it!
Do you know if the wiring through the firewall issue was redone? I would like to get it but I do not want to go through the firewall.
Yes, they said they made a new harness that doesn't require going through the firewall anymore.
I want a CarPlay / Android solution that integrates with the original Tesla Display…I am more than happy with my revers able phone holder charger or mini speedometer display mounted on the steering wheel cover. In Australia we are blocked from web access during driving so the ones that work by web browser hosting are no go
the issue with all large units are they block out the a/c and in hotter climate will be a big problem
Great review but I would love to see this include Android auto
I would gladly pay the higher shipping cost myself to get 1 long unit.
Hola se. Puede montar en el tesla model 3 2024 hingland ?
Saludos
Crazy that this has an old LCD screen and not a modern OLED
like the hardware. Unfortunately no Android Auto is a deal breaker for me since i don't have iphone
battery icon reminds me of when i used to charge my iphone 4 lol...
This looks amazing but we are an Android family. Would you still recommend it? What is the best display with Android Auto?
I just reviewed an upgraded version of this display that has Android Auto. Please check that video out. Thanks.
The design of the hardware is nice. Probably one of the best integrations of a dash. The problem I have with this, is the UI and Airflow seem like a second thought.
I think this product due to its size a form would allowed to extend the vents and allow for some type or reroute of the air so that it doesn’t get blocked.
As far as the UI. Is it that hard to really match it with Tesla’s or be as close as possible. Some clusters have done a good job in being close to Tesla look. Like for example why is the battery UI like the old iOS battery ui when the phone started charging.
I get most these people are engineers and probably lack UI/UX designers but maybe they should make an effort to hire one that could help with some of these inconveniences.
For the price I would expect more. Overall it looks good but still miles behind other cluster in terms of software and UI look.
Thanks for this review! Looking forward to the mini and how it compares.
Thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate it. TMA's new Carplay version mini screen was just delivered to me and that has some major improvements to the UI. I will make that video asap.
Yes the UI could definitely be better, and it shouldnt be too difficult. They nailed the UI on the circle display reviewed before this. But then.. it’s circle haha. I never actually miss a display but if they make a simple/ small one with the UI feel similar to the circle one, I will buy it no doubt.
I commented before to Shiva that if one of these guys want advice on UI, feel free to drop me a message. I would happily help!
new mini one? link@@ShivaSapkota
Yes, I imagine the air flow is pretty minimal. They should have built in something for the airflow to go through somehow. I don't think I would care for it because I wouldn't be able to have the air flow that I'm used to.
Wow that’s looks amazing! I never seen anything else like this for the Model 3 and Y. If I still had my 3 I would be all over this dash
Thank you very much for your feedback!
They a have both ; intel and amd, but I don’t like graphics and size bit too big … for Apple CarPlay we have already Carlinkit option … for dashboard as per graphics and integration is basic it’s by far more easy to use a speed snd basic indicators already existing . With blinkers gear doors indicator in a minimal size inside the venting
Is it good for the tesla model 3 highland?
No, this is not compatible for Highland. There are other displays. Thanks!
it blocks the AC why would you get this?
I see a led strip inbuilt into the trim. Does it work?
I don't think that is a LED strip, it is a just plastic trim to make it look like a glass LED. They are however working on an integrated system of ambient light led with this display. Thanks.
Not the glass one, there is a led strip kind of a thing on the aluminum metal thing that goes from one end to the other.
After all this year... noone still producing heads up display add- on for TESLA
postive terminal is a metric fastener
Will it void your Tesla warranty?
