I am releasing another video on this today to correct my mistake about early access, my apologies.
Oops.
🤣 nice one!
There's also a patch that now shares loot between players in Co-op, apparently?
Still, I'm holding off buying this for at least 6 months
Have the issues in your review been addressed in the patches since launch?
"You'll go to jail in Scotland"... I lost it 💀
Absolute gold.
Many of us here are going to prison in Scotland 😅
"release now fix later" is the most disgusting practice in modern gaming
I guess they ran out of money...
They even did that with the Cats movie that came out a few years ago. The CGI wasn't finished so some of the actors had human hands and feet still. They released a finished version a few weeks later.
The quicker they release the game the quicker they make money fixing it at that stage will bankrupt them that's why many of them do it as fixing it later will be better for them
What's worse is release now and say we will fix it and years later your still waiting.
@@thefella131ya like pokemon scarlet
At 1:16 I recorded loads of footage of me out exploring and grabbing loot, sadly it corrupted so I went back to the game to record more but it dropped a patch which is 32gig, this is the third time since yesterday a patch has dropped for this game which forced me to redownload the entire game (32 gig)...I could not be arsed to do it again, my apologies.
Love your stuff
Quick question, what's your opinion on easy to play modes? Like modern controls on street fighter 6 and the new easy to play mode on fzero99 where it's impossible to crash in to walls or fall off the track? Only ask as it has the same vibes as micro transactions/pay to win. The worst is yet to come. Love to hear your views on it wether you agree or not. Keep up the great work!
Do you know what a "torch" is? Because it's not something that just emits light.
This is the Scottish Police, we need you to come down to the station for loaded questioning as one of the we suspect you might be a hate monster.
@@Starkiller3025in British English it means flashlight (same here in Australia too)
Are you sure you actually had to redownload 32 gigs? Steam shows it as processing 32 gigs but its mostly local, not a full redownload. The last patch I saw the 32 gig 'download' but Download history only shows 800MB downloaded. Other than that, yeah it seems like there is a new patch every time I crash, which happens fairly often ;(
I've learnt my lesson. Never look forward to anything 😅😭
No expectations no disappointment
Honestly yeah I used to get my hopes up, especially with E3 being a thing. Now though, I find myself looking forward to -or sometimes hearing about- games AFTER they release
Too right especially after the DD2 debacle

The Scottish hate crime act - technically you could be investigated under a hate crime if mack lived in Scotland and said he hated this game if the company reported him.
He wouldn't even know because the complaint goes on police database without even telling him
Also Mac it's not Early Access it's a full release on steam!
yeah, i thought he was joking at first, pointing out that like all early access games its gonne be buggy, put there was no punch line

I've really grown a deep distain for "neon shit" in games where things are just highlighted in bright, over-powering colours for no reason, like bullet tracers being bright lightsaber projectiles, let alone almost every game now has enemies with glowy spots on them through their eyes, mouth and pores.
Mack said it was early access, it doesn't say that anywhere on their Steam page.
7/10 IGN? One look at this and it's obvious this has major issues. The obvious shading issues, bad lighting a clear sign of those amateur, early access asset flip games-usually a huge red flag for me, and this is full of it.
7/10 IGN.
36% positive ratings on Steam.
lol
this is not an asset flip game i actually seen the developer on FB where he posts videos about his game looking for feedback but yes he is like me amateur and should not be scolded for this.
Bear in mind IGN freaked out at the woman in the new stellar blade game cause its a sexy woman designed by a sexy woman
The game is 100x better than when it was released. They've released a patch for this game everyday since it came out.
When you've seen so many of your videos that you instantly know when we'll get an "abysmal", "banter piss", "clusterf**k" or "ocelot dung" in the next sentence 😅
I've played for 18.7 hours by now, And I have never had my game crash, so I feel out of the loop when I read about people crashing almost every tour. That being said, after getting a good bit of progress done, I am currently at a stage where I can happily do difficulty 3 woodland tours with my current setup and I have begun to notice very interesting details.
One such detail is that one map is featured in one part of the item retrieval section but another completely different location simply has you explore and recover an item from the exact same map except you have landed on the opposite side of it with maybe some changing points of interest for you to loot. This realization felt painful but it was not enough to move me in any direction thanks to the VERY addicting sound design and looting gameplay loop.
One MAJOR issue that I have currently with the game is that, tours take a long time. Even longer if your intention is to explore and loot as many mission spots as possible before recovery time. To have an intrinsic perma-death mechanic that cannot be toggled off if you don't want it feels like I am just racking up equipment to lose once I eventually die, which hurts more because you get better and more rare equipment as you progress through the game. I feel like it is a good option that a player can weave into their gameplay but it should not be forced into the game if you don't want it because it makes the experience far too stressful.
If it were me, I would keep the feature in the game but change it so that it has to be toggled on before a tour starts and have it provide the player with a higher chance of rare loot spawning as long as the perma-death feature is turned on. This way, the player is given the choice of risking all the items they are wearing being gone forever if they lose but are granted a reprieve from that risk knowing that they will find much better loot as a result of choosing to engage in it.
Overall I love this game and the sci-fi style has successfully captured my gaming interest, so I honestly hope that they keep working on the game and refine it into a shape that truly turns the situation around for them. I do believe that this is not a scam, but a dream that is simply far too complex to get perfectly right off the bat, which is why I am okay with the backlash about performance issues from the community because it makes sense.
Keep at it and know that I am but one of many people who want to see your game thrive!
This game's tutorial and UI are so darned clunky. It is never explained in-game but you can insure your gear so you get it back if/when your operator dies. Go to barracks, backpack, right click on your gear and select insure. The currency for doing this is earned by selling gear.. so sell off what you aren't using, insure the good stuff, and gear up your team. If your operator dies, the stuff will go back to your inventory - but will need to be re-insured. Fun gameplay loop, its got its hooks in me as well!
As long as they don't have pay-to-win microtransactions and it's got enough potential, it's worth a buy for me.
Good job IGN, way to maintain your reputation
This has been on my wishlist for ages. I think I will keep it there and see if the devs improve things. Thanks for the video.
Mack has had a Disney kind of day
I always love when Mack pulls out the "bantha piss" or says that something "runs like an asthmatic hippo", lol! Thanks, Mack!
So glad I waited til you got your hands on this one Mac
I was also looking forward to this one. May have to wait a while and see how it progresses.
It has progressed very well. I have 50 hours of pure joy under my belt. I would say to take the plunge.
im at 60hrs since release. very addictive gameplay loop. y'all just cant recognize greatness even if stares you right in the face.
"You'll go to jail in scottland." xD Got me good. Clownworld.!
Great conclusion mack. Let's hope they can fix it up.
I don't know why companies still think coop, where only the host progresses, is a grand idea. It has always been shit. Since Fable it is my arch nemesis. Why cant we have nice things?! What happened to making games fun?!
It’s six people dude not a big ass company.Maybe lower your expectations for a INDIE STUDIO?

I'd say a great game doesn't need to be fixed, doesn't have microtransactions and has realized it's potential. That's what makes it so great.
Will you revisit the game if they do fix it?
you'd think.. with the years of trouble Mac has had in literally EVERY. FUCKIN. GAME. using TGFH controls.. he would just switch to WSAD.
shush that sort of totally plain simple logic ain't allowed here let alone that it is piss easy to adjust to what he is used to by moving his hand an inch to the left
Erm, Its not early access, its full release. Nothing on the steam page mentions its early access......
Who says 'erm'?
Erm
Erm, it is called soft early access launch. You sell the game as is and hope none will notice it is an early access title. That will never get any updates. 7 out of 10 on IGN!
It not being early access makes it so much worse.

Pinky finger rests on F and Pointer on J... never misplace my hand because of the little bumbs on the keys. And it is more comfortable for me that way.
Concerning the game: Was also looking forward to it. Shame it came out half baked.
God damn it. I was looking fowards to this game, the concept is right up my alley.
Might have to come back to it in a few years, if the dev doesn't just bail after a bad launch.
They have been releasing updates literally every single day and have already raised their review score from negative to mixed on steam. Honestly, it is already in a much better state. Huge bug fixes and gameplay changes every day for over a week is insane! Give it a month and I have a feeling it will be in a pretty good place.
@@chaosapple7771 I'll give it a bit longer than that but that is fantastic news. Thanks for replying so I know.
Agreeing fully with you on this one, I'm still a bit hyped...
I hope the developers are watching this.
I hope you know this is developed by a small indie Team and i think for the team size they did amazing its not the best game has a lot of problems but they work on it and fixed many of the problems i have about 60h now and its a lot of fun even with many of the problems
Ill make this quick. I have 40h in the game and iMO its fun. Sure it doesn't explain everything well but it shouldn't hold your hand either. The game feels more like a single player with a co-op as a side thought (which is fine cause i don't play games with others normally anyway). i haven't had any crashes myself so i cant really speak to that but overall the gameplay is fun to me. IMO the tutorial while it doesn't teach you everything you do in the game its not the worst game tutorial i've played. finally the bonus stuff IE the CIWS and Chaingun are cosmetic chaingun is arguable but they are the just skins. When you can make the CIW you get the option to make either version but they are clones just look different same with the chaingun but its "equivalent" is the twin 30mm.
Just broke 100 hours in the game; it's an unmitigated pile at the moment, but damned if it doesn't have the best concept I've run into in years. Devs are rapidly fixing stuff, so I expect this to be a reasonably well polished pile in a few months.
"pay us to be our game testers"
@WorthABuyreviews Vanguard Edition is basically skins which are locked until you normally unlock the corresponding turret. I'm absolutely loving this game, but I haven't crashed a single time, so my experience has been good if grindy. I understand people not digging it tho.
Damn, was really looking forward to this one.
Ive played about 10 hours without a single crash. playing on 7600 cpu and 6750 XT GPU.
Game is actually pretty decent. all the complaints are relating to crashes (which i can't attest to) and crashing on the last leg of a tour is a bit of a pain i imagine as you have to start the entire map again (about 30 mins lost at most).
But honestly for a $20 USD game, its actually alot of fun and is much better than some AAA releases. Worth a shot if you havent played already.
That little walking outpost of hate commen…
I was looking forward to this..
Where on steam does it say early access? Maybe tell them to add that "little" info.
Confirmed, Mac said he can read:P
would like to know Mack's thoughts on Against the Storm.....because it's a great game
I might get hate for saying this. But im addicted to this game now. Once I understand whats going, I cant stop playing it. higher levels has so many things going on with reward vs risk. there is a balance to keep in mind. Ofcourse there is alot to improve and fix. But I'm having a blast.
I was soooo excited to get this game. The tiktok videos were so cool but I will have to wait until more stuff gets fixed

Only ask as it has the same vibes as micro transactions/pay to win. The worst is yet to come. Love to hear your views on it wether you agree or not. Keep up the great work!
The thing with the SF6 child controls is you not only do reduced damage, you also don't have access to all your attacks and unique attacks, which really limits you combo wise.
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputer which means nothing once mastered. Everyone has a dip in their defence. When up against child controls (i like that btw) you are getting punished 100% of the time. Using classic, if someone jumps in and you're slightly under prepared for it you're not hitting a shoryuken or alike 100% of the time. One press child controls skips that problem.
There has been easy/medium/hard modes for decades. When they introduced stuff like brake assist and driving lines on forza to be able to be used in competitive play online, i thought that was bad enough but surely couldn't get worse. I was wrong.
Easy to play options to this level is a new evil on gaming especially when available for online ranked and will only get worse. Just asking the question here as in several videos hold your hand style of gaming is brought up alot and is rightly criticised. Child controls on street fighter and the new thing to come on fzero99 fits perfectly in hold your hand type gaming. It's not a good indication of where gaming is headed into the future.
I am disappointed too, was looking forward to this. Your characters name in game is Fae Pratt, yeah tha'ts exactly how i felt playing it too.
Recent reviews are mostly positive and overall reviews 4% short of mostly positive.
Did you ever play the riftbeaker mac?
I've used ESDF over WASD since playing the Starsiege: Tribes demo in 1999.
Mack's reasoning for claiming that "TGFH is far superior to WSAD" is completely wacko and he's deluding himself.
Balanced review, thanks Mack.
The chewtorial on youchoob.
Its really cool that you covered this with brutal honesty about how bad of a state it is in, but also recognizing that it is not just pointless "potential". Its legitimately on the cusp of being an absolutely fantastic game if they had just tested it better before release.
Damn. Been kind of a bleak start to 2024. Hope ya find a fun (playable!) game soon, Mack!
Remember when beta testing was free?
Here is hoping they turn it around. Hopefully we'll see a follow up from yourself in the event they fix it.
when you release a game, even in early access, a developer NEEDS to know the basegame is initally fun with room to grow. Mack's right, this is just sad.
Great thanks for the review :)
There's a video from 7 months ago of the developer apologising for not being able to release the game yet as it wasn't ready and required more work.
Where is this tgfh video I can’t find it!
Anthem was my last ever pre order. Got burnt heavily by that so never again. I dont trust any game until its actually released.

I must also confess when i watched some of the Trailers for this over the past couple of weeks my excitement level was off the Hook, The Riftbreaker FPS version plus plus, please for the love of God don't let this be an F up.
I think i knew though with zero actually gameplay being released or previews prior to release it was gonna be a monumental let down, kinda default these Days for 9 out of 10 games, come back a Year after release on the next big Steam Sale see if its in a passable 1.0 release state yet. Gaming in the 2020's LOL.
Genesis Alpha One is ""kinda"" like this, a bit buggy but way better state than this is as of now for anyone looking for something similar, Sanctum also though thats super old.
All i can say is armored core 🔔
I just realized the game is a full release, not early access... Ouch...
Anyone remember Starforge? That sounded good until they decided to just abandon and release it even worse than the EA version. That game is exactly why I ignore anything until it's released. And if it's released crap, then i just ignore it indefinitely. No Mans Sky is about the only game that was pretty awful at release they truly fixed
Great vid
Probably time to just play with the keys everybody else does so you can stop creating that problem for yourself.

at 8:42 the shaders on the rock faces are completely broken... and no one noticed this in testing? and it wasn't even called out in the review... ?
This game has no shadows at all...
They recommend RTX 3060 just to get 60fps 1080p. Personally I don't really like UE4 because of performance always seems poor and maybe UE5 is the same. I think I read somewhere that it's quite difficult to optimised with Unreal and that devs are not very knowledgeable when it comes to optimisation so they do a bare minimum and this is the result.
Even so it looks a lot like Silica? And that Star Ship Troopers game you played a while ago.
Plus Kenshi when?
Are you allowed to say take it on the Chin to a Chinese company?
I think you have to say, 'take it on the Chan', now. Not 100% on that like.
But did it change your life?
It's not early access tho, at least it does not mention it in the steam store.
Fuck it! Release now to get money in bank! We’ll be okay!

Review The Outlast Trials ! :D
Didn’t get to playing. Constantly crashing as soon as main menu shows up
Someone in the Steam reviews claims they’ve been testing this game for the past two years and it’s “come a long way” I’d hate to see what it was like two years ago!
its absolutely ridiculous when a coop game only lets the host progress, like thats a fundamental part of a coop game - both parties progressing at the same time. you cannot defend a system that doesnt allow that.
Great concept but poor execution (so far). Probably didn't help all the promo and trailers was all about the huge guns and tower defence stuff against hoards of enemies but then after the tutorial you just start off with the equivalent of a shed and run around scavenging for leftovers before a trivial battle.
Still, I kinda like this game, I enjoy taking my time exploring for loot and managing my resources, to choose what to keep and what to discard when I get more stuff than I can bring home, and while I only got MG's and 30mm guns on it so far, my shed is slowly but surely starting to grow into a proper mobile fortress.
The game definitely needs a lot of work but if they keep working on it I think this can be a real banger in the end. It has the potential, but does it have to team to make it so?
