Rick!!! I absolutely LOVE the table. In the "Beller Bungalow" I have always planned to get a natural wood (Ironwood or Mahogany) table for that dining area. Your place is looking wonderful and I am so happy for both of you.
Hi Rick, It's not easy to find people you can trust, once you do, try to keep them. Peace of mind is priceless. Enjoy life, you seem to be in your 'little paradise' :)
I have made that trip and saw the furniture shops you were talking about. Could not buy anything big so we got some small carvings to bring back to Texas.
Good video, seems like you have things rolling in your favor! I'm also SC veteran so knowing I can use VA and TC out there is great. Good info on the caretaker allowance its very reasonable. I'm thinking Cebu but ideally I want a pool house with fenced yard for my 4 GS dogs I wont leave behind. Keep up the good content.
Thanks brother, appreciate you watching and appreciate even more, your service to our country! Happy Labor day weekend to you. I hope some of our vlogs will be helpful for you. We have never been to Cebu, but I hear positive things with exception of the traffic. It gets described as similar to Manila traffic which is absolutely nuts! One of the reasons I decided to settle in the province. I understand you not wanting to leave your dogs. I feel the same about our Anya.
Aww Anya is a cutie!!! I've got a black lab too named Bowie after David Bowie, he has been to the Philippines once and I'll bring him with me in September to finally do the move!
your living the dream man.... i also want to plant my own veggies and fruits... and take care of chickens hehehe... maybe you can build a small chicken pen, and dig up a small fish pond for tilapia... they are really easy to feed and take care of... the fish are fun to catch hahaha... and your lucky that Mars is there to help you out!... and good looking Anya Baker!.... good luck!
It does feel like a dream some days. Have thought about raising some chickens. We go through eggs faster than the market can sell them to us 😂. I just don’t like the Rooster crowing. Don’t have to listen to it here where we are.! We actually have a neighbor that raises Tilapia and catfish and is always asking us to come get what we want, it’s just so cheap at the market and I like helping the sellers. Yes, we are blessed to have our Mars!!! And Anya says thank you for the compliment ❤️
Hey Rick! New fur baby huh? I am a dog trainer/retired Msgt . Security Forces and if you don’t train her she will become a digger. They are loyal pups and love water though. Good luck and God bless! Erik Baker
Thanks for the advise brother! Planning on some training when she gets older, but for now, thank God, she isn't digging anywhere. And yes, she is a Freak for the water!
Hi Rick, we've enjoyed your channel because you track through PI is so similar to what we're going to do. My asawa wants to land in Cavite to search for a nice lot to grow fruit and veggies. She's from Bataan Marvelous but complains it's too hot. So we will be looking closely at Balanga. However, on UA-cam, the land is so expensive. I'm not sure we can afford the high process. We want to stay near Medical City Hospitals due to our federal BCBS health insurance. Maybe we'll get lucky but I doubt it.
Appreciate you watching and yes, Bataan is hot and humid most of the year. Rainy season there is crazy and yes again when it comes to expensive land. Folks there want prime prices for the property they are selling, for no rhyme or reason. Closest Medical City to that area is in Clark. You might try looking north of the Clark/Angeles area for property. Prices go way down and getting to Clark Medical City is easy with the SCTEX and TPLEX toll roads. Wishing you the best in your search brother!
We found a local in this area and she did all the leg work for us. We told her what we were looking for and she showed property that fit our criteria. She kept me, the foreigner, out of it until a price was given and then I stepped in. Prices will increase outrageously if the seller knows there is a foreigner involved somehow.
I have never employed a Filipino before but I have Filipino friends who own properties in the Philippines and they have over the years had many different caretakers and house keepers over the years. Seems they all work out well initially but over time my friends will change out workers.
Hey David, thanks for watching! I do grill. Would be a sad thing if a Texas boy didn't do some grilling. I actually stumbled on a American grill at the Ace Hardware in Rosales. The clerk said they had had it in stock for over a year and no one would buy it, so they gave me 25%off and I jumped at it. Super loving it!
Love your table & chairs rick, what part/barangay are you living? Asawa is from Gen San and have been there 8 times. Would love to meet you guys, but my MS has gotten worse and my wife wants to go back this April alone. So I agreed, She will travel SOLO.
Very sorry to hear about your health issues Michael. If you do get to come in the future, let's do get together and have an awesome pot of coffee and solve the worlds problems! We are in Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija. Very close to Rosales, Pangasinan.
Hi Rick. Our arrival into Tarlac has been moving around based upon bringing our family member dog with us and getting the re quired certificates in order. Currently the arrival is 19 Feb, well see, by the way is your Christmas tree still up? I like the garden layout. Did you have to amend the soil at all? I didn't see the new truck in your video. Take care bud. JJ
Let me know how it goes with bringing your dog. Might be good info for folks to know. Planning on taking Anya to the US with us when Jenn gets her visa. Don't think I can be without her for an extended period of time. No, the tree is down, Jenn was just delayed in putting that vlog up. We are adding some fertile soil while we plant. Over time, we will have that area in really good shape! Hope y'all are able to get everything in order so you can travel back here. Let me know when you do arrive and let's plan to get together!
Hi Rick, such an amazing bungalow house. So impressed. Too bad you didn't settle in Bataan. We could have been neighbors. 😊 While in US, away 9month a year, I pay my live-in caretaker for my 2BR bungalow in Bataan, ₱4K/month. Family of 4, Husband, wife, 2 kids, high school and elementary. They stay in the BR in the garage and adjacent bahay kubo. My 2car garage double deep has a BR and bath. Nxt to the garage side door is a bahay kubo, behind the bahay kubo is a 400gal water tower. Underneath the water tower is enclosed, their kitchen. The husband has regular work and the wife accepts laundry. They also monetize from the harvest fr fruits and vegetables fr the property. I have fruitfull 7 mango trees, papayas, and about 20 rows of vegetable plots. Their tasks is just to man the property at all times and maintain the yard. Free water, electricity and Internet. I have another separate lady that cleans the inside of the house, once a month for ₱1K. ₱5K total caretaking and average of ₱3K for electricity. I average ₱15K for electricity while I'm there.
We tried brother, to find property we could afford, that would still allow us to build the home we wanted. We just could not find anything reasonable and decided to shift our focus after 8 months of searching. We enjoyed our time though, while living in Bataan. Sounds like you have your property taken care of and that is a huge relief knowing you have people you can trust to ensure it's safe and ready for you to visit the 3 months a year you relocate. Thanks for watching brother!
Standard in the province is P350 per day with food for breaks and lunch covered. We pay more than that simply because it is a family friend, super hard working, knowledgeable with gardening and super trustworthy! Thanks for watching :)

I hope he will answer, but most have CCTV and a security fence. I collect firearms in the US, but I feel safer in the Philippines than I do most anywhere in the US and I’m from rural North Carolina. If I’m not mistaken foreigners cannot own firearms in the Philippines, but Filipinos can. The violent crime rate is extremely low here. Filipinos are a country of God fearing people that are kind and respectful to each other and foreigners. The people are the biggest reason I will retire here.
I will simply say, we have multiple layers of security in place to protect our family. Please understand if I don't give specifics. I, like Eric, feel very safe here. But I am also enough of a realist to know, there are folks in every country that want to do harm to others. If someone in the future decides to make the Baker family their target, I will not go down without a fight!
Hi Rick, great retirement home. Just came across your channel. We are planning to build ours in Batangas. Just curious how much do you pay for a caretaker? Thanks all the best in your family.
