They have accompanied me all my adult life, I am 63, their music has seen me in my best and worst moments. I didn't go to their last concert in my country, I had the ticket and I didn't go, I knew that people wouldn't understand an old man crying at a POP concert. Too many memories, too many absent people with whom I used to go to his shows. It's true, when you get old, sometimes, you get sentimental. Thanks for the music, you guys are great

What a pity you didn't go to the concert. The last one I went to - in Prague - was fantastic, and guess what? So many people around 60! What a great mix of PSB fans of all ages, including very young ones! Can't think of many other acts with such an impact! ❤

I'll be 60 this year and I've been a fan since West End Girls. Never felt the urge of crying at one of their concerts, but should it ever happen, I won't be ashamed. "Loneliness" is classic Pet Shop boys, there's so much in the lyrics and the video I can relate to and it's stirring memories which make me quite sentimental. Absolutely love the song!
They are so universal! You will find people of all ages dancing and having fun in their concerts! Don’t miss the next one!

I have my dad to thank for introducing me to the Pet Shop Boys, I may only be 19 but I feel such a connection to so many of their songs (and it continues with this one as well), and i just can't wait to see them live in June this year

Let‘s also enjoy the fact, that they are still able to crank out fantastic music with often great lyrics. Their quality never suffered over the years, in contrast to many other aging groups. Neil Tennant is indeed almost 70, Chris Lowe will turn 65 this year…and they can produce the grooviest dance tunes with ease if they feel like it.

I’d like to underline: hundreds of beautiful songs, actual hits they are incomparable in this fields(creating lovely melodies). So it’s just rediculois to compare them with DM, with their only worth listening album “Violator”, Erasure, with his “I love to hate you”, “Always”, “I love Saturdays” - that’s it. Only “Modern Talking” created a close number of good melody hits but Dieter Bohlen did nothing about arrangements of his songs: they all the same. In case with Pet shop boys it’s a tremendous work!
I have been and I always will be a huge Erasure fan, yet I have to say their recent records are not that great... Love them anyway. Such sweethearts. Love PSB too. But it is actually OMD who have been producing great songs and albums through the years and even now. In my opinion, there is the greatest flow of energy at OMD gigs by far. DM is nostalgia, used to be great music, Memento Mori is not a bad record at all, but the musical spirit is gone long time ago.

My big brother got me into the Pet Shop Boys when i was about 15, im now 50 and seen them so many times. Even my 24 year old son loves them (he did listen to their music lots on school runs etc). FABULOUS video. As someone from Sheffield who was 20 in 1992, it feels uncanny. A mix of Jealousy, Domino Dancing and So Hard.
I'm 69 years old, been a massive fan since West End Girls hit the waves and my ears. Still a massive fan today, Loneliness is the PSB still at their best, wish I was.

The Pet Shop Boys have consistently produced pop gems for more than 4 decades. Bravo! 👏This track is reminiscent of their earlier gem "Between Two Islands", one of my all-time faves.

I have seen them about 20 times only sadly in the Uk first time Birmingham july 14th 1989 it made me more hooked than anyone else just pure brilliance so diverse in audience attendance i have met people in their late 60s at their concerts all dressed up in gear never again will i miss their concerts but none in the foreseeable future for me.
I saw them years ago here in Detroit Michigan, USA 🇺🇸 back in the late 1980’s or early 1990’s. I’m not sure. Because it was a long time ago. That said..I’m a lifelong fan. This song 🎧 is amazing. I’m not at all surprised.

Good lord in July I too will be 57 , and since they’ve been on the scene I’ve been all PET SHOP BOYS Fan! I’m From NY and they always were fundamental to WLIR, which then changed to WDRE . In 1986 I joined USAF and been around the world and they’ve been with me since, great mood changer for the tough times that we’ve had since that time. Love you guys!

This is one of the best Pet Shop Boys singles ever! The vocals are exquisite with a really infectious synth laden production with toe tapping beat. 40 years in the music business and still going on strong in 2024. I can't wait for the new album to drop in April 2024. I already preordered the vinyl and CD formats. I was lucky to see them way when at Radio City in NYC they were outstanding. We ❤❤❤ the Pet Shop Boys.

Been a fan since "West End Girls" and "Opportunities". I have everything they have released and seen them several times over the years. Neil and Chris never disappoint and always have great material. There's always been a somewhat melancholy undertone to what they do. This song is quite striking and in line with everything else. It's dark sound reenforces the lyrics. Looking forward to the rest of the album.

Instead your heart is elsewhere and you dream and desire a boyfriend, then you feel loneliness especially on a big party, when there is a cute boy. Your heart says, „I want to be near to him, kiss him, but you head says: it‘s wrong! Don’t even look in his eyes!
The Pet Shop Boys describe this situation in their song „TO SPEAK IS A SIN!“
I personally knew dozens of men in my life, who living in that straight heterosexual cage, having a girl friend fulfill the „normal“ way like everyone. These friendships had the function „better a girl friend, than nothing!
Instead of someone may guess I am gay!“
Especially when you grow up in a big family, they will pasked you soon:
- Did you have a girl friend?
- When you will get engaged?
- when you will get married?
Etc. etc. etc…..
Those standard questions you will hear again and again and your relatives awaiting an answer.
You are expected to behave exactly like your siblings and relatives do, get engaged and married, and perhaps have children.
If you also have a Christian faith or even a strict Catholic upbringing in combination with homophobic comments, you will try to behave in the way your parents expect of you at the latest. Coming out and saying "I'm gay" would mean disappointing the expectations placed on you; perhaps you would be threatened with banishment from the family because you would be perceived as a "disgrace to your parents".
Anyone who believes that this no longer exists is very much mistaken. In some countries, marriages are initiated by parents or strict religious families send you to "re-education courses" to "bring you back to the right path".
The vast majority of my gay partners had a wife at home, that says it all...
