It is a pity he is peddling those evil face masks. The rest of the video is charming except for the sinister face mask part which is totally wicked evil and unnecessary.
Such a great tune. I'll be 60 next year, and have no idea where the time has gone. It's frightening, really. I first started listening to Soft Cell in 1981, when I was 18. I still love their music. A favourite track of theirs is also about aging: it's the achingly sad 'Youth' from 'Non Stop Erotic Cabaret'. It gets more real the older I get, I have found.
I'm just a few years younger, I was the kid who dyed their hair black in my parents peach bathroom in the 1980s (that was a bit of a to do I can tell you!) back combing it as I smoked a marlboro red at my open bedroom window, burned patchouli and Sandalwood incense and played Siouxsie and the Banshees Juju cassette (and a Gothic mix tape from a friend) applying back eye liner (badly) and packing my black canvas bag with a sketch book, pencils, cassettes, batteries (for the boom box) cigarettes and a 2 litre bottle of cider. We may be getting older, but damn we have some insane and brilliant memories!
@@cocteaut - Apart from the cigarettes, me too! I live in a rural part of the UK, and in the early 1980's, some of the inhabitants weren't blessed with much imagination - I was once refused service in a country pub, for the simple reason that I was wearing black nail polish. For some reason, that offended the landlord. No mention was made of my hair, or the bangles, or the eyeshadow. No. The nail polish really annoyed him. My friends and I had no trouble from the other drinkers in the pub - indeed, a few had a go at the landlord, when he refused to serve me.
Amazing, loved both of the bands in the 80s, loved their talent and their music. Just turned 57 recently and have been nostalgic listening to a lot of the 80s music recently and someone just recommended this to me on one of the comments I left. Oh wow, this is so amazing, still so good and enjoy it just as much as I have their stuff from before. Amazing, never heard this before and love it.
The beauty of this song, other than the wonderful melody, is the fact that we have grown up - and old - with the PSBs and Soft Cell, and together we feel our age, the love of a bygone era, and the fear of death, but also hope for our lives yet to be lived. The coming together of both bands makes us feel we are now all in it together. I think ‘let’s get out of this life’ means we have the opportunity for a new and different life, for the rest of our lives.
...i was a teen in the 80's...turn 50 this year...i was still like back in the days...still got my hopes 'n dreams...after being a soldier 'n a pile of shit that i've been going through i was still full of energy...after this...i think this is called...a song maybe...all i wanna do is close my eyes forever so that i can forget this noise and those pictures...pure horror...damn
This videoa shows what I love about London. The eccentricity, the grittiness and those wonderful people. Was living in Tooting-Bec, Soho and Mile End 1996-2005 and it was marvellous. The small shops, little cafe in Soho and greasy spoon in Leytonstone. All gone now. Strangely the video is so nostalgic and pulls certain strings in my mind...love it! Marc's voice is still so magic btw
It’s taken 40 years for this collaboration to happen, and they’ve produced something (in both the song and the video) that totally sums up how I feel about this decade so far and heading into my late 30s. It’s like an anthem against mediocrity. “Let’s Get Out of This Life. I’m Afraid and Alone. Paralysed- in the Purple Zone.” Instant masterpiece.
Proof there is hope for music after all! Really enjoyed the song and the video was brilliant. Very artistic and wonderfully directed, gets the song's message across perfectly. Just remember though, we don't get old, we get great.

Love this song from very talented people. Thanks Soft Cell and The Pet shop boys 👍🙂
I immediatly recognize Chris Lowe's synths sound. Undeniable and so unique
Just subscribed 👍👍👍
Chris’s fingerprints are all over this wonderful comeback💛
It is a pity he is peddling those evil face masks. The rest of the video is charming except for the sinister face mask part which is totally wicked evil and unnecessary.
Such a great tune. I'll be 60 next year, and have no idea where the time has gone. It's frightening, really. I first started listening to Soft Cell in 1981, when I was 18. I still love their music.
A favourite track of theirs is also about aging: it's the achingly sad 'Youth' from 'Non Stop Erotic Cabaret'. It gets more real the older I get, I have found.
I get you am 60 in nov 😁
Youth... Beauty is skindeep...
My favourite track of theirs is still "Sex Dwarf" (the "Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret" version).
Just live in the moment that reminds you of happiness. 1987. Lol
С новым годом!!!
I cannot wait for this album! My love for this band is as ardent now as it was in 1981 when I first heard Memorabilia.
...in Torremolinos?
It's available on torrent sites already, albeit without this Pet Shop Boys duet.
sleaze and sex dwarf are a couple of my favourite of marcs songs.
Chill Music 2022 ua-cam.com/video/UJ2emjYDjuw/v-deo.html
My favorite one is “Tainted Love” and “Where Did Our Love Go.”
The more I listen to this, the harder it hits
We all lives in the purple zone!
I am exploring it, decades after decades, still the same but different at the same time.
...i was a teen in the 80's...turn 50 this year...i was still like back in the days...still got my hopes 'n dreams...after being a soldier 'n a pile of shit that i've been going through i was still full of energy...after this...i think this is called...a song maybe...all i wanna do is close my eyes forever so that i can forget this noise and those pictures...pure horror...damn
Hey there I get exactly what you are saying mu love x
Made me cry for some reason... that's what good music does :)
I can relate
It has a melancholic vibe to it like most happy music has, it's not that uncommon to have one that makes one melancholic.
So did I, With a big smile.
I'm crying
Me too
This videoa shows what I love about London.
This is Awesome, the 2 Greats together Soft Cell and. PET Shop boys . WoW 🙂💞🌠🌻❤️🎵
Paralysed- in the Purple Zone.”
Instant masterpiece.
This gives me Always On My Mind and I Feel Love vides. Love it, well done guys!
I thought the same thing. I love it!
Right!
Yes reminds me of Always on my Mind

Proof there is hope for music after all! Really enjoyed the song and the video was brilliant. Very artistic and wonderfully directed, gets the song's message across perfectly. Just remember though, we don't get old, we get great.

Love this big time my wife heard it and said thats 4 or 5 songs put in to 1 ,Brilliant I am 52 she 61 ,so sad her cremation is today, all the best guys x
In 1982 I turned 20, was a young gay man in a big city alone....
...this song takes me right back to those days, I wouldn't change a thing.
Incroyable cette union artistique pour notre plus grand plaisir
Best song i ever heard, for many years back.Masterpiece deluxe
catchy
Wow that's soooo PSB !!!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍😍😍🤩🤩
Wonderful rousing song which Soft Cell played during their recent tour. The audience loved it.
Love it, synth stabs behind the chorus remind me of always on my mind

It's truly astounding that these 80's relics are writing better songs than all the youngsters today. Millennials and Gen Z are "Paralyzed in the Mediocre Zone."
Relics? I'd rather say treasures :)

I meant to say, treasured relic.
Sooo So true... Very well said...
The 80's song that is forever in our hearts!

Your dad would so proud of you for sharing this x God bless and sorry x
God bless your Dad. Lost mine recently. Take care
We all age but the PSB songs live on...for decades and decades more I am sure. It has been a long way since the day I fell in love with the first PSB song I listened to (Left to My Own Devices!) when I was in my teens...!
Hello everyone!
This year on my birthday I felt much better about my life and I owe a lot of my feeling better to the almost nonstop outpouring of love from all the kind and thoughtful people on UA-cam!
This year my niece and I drove something like ten hours to go to Chicago on the 5th of April to see "Depech Mode" for my birthday! Great concert and had a wonderful time in Chicago!
I had not been to Chicago in 40 years! It has changed so much!
Thanks so very much to "Soft Cell" and the "Pet Shop Boys" for this great song and video. It is as if they have read our hearts and minds and recorded it for us to all ponder!
Much Love to All!
Bonjour Michael. Je vous souhaite des millions de petits bonheurs tous les jours de votre vie. La vie est souvent difficile, mais c'est la vie

Bonjour, Diane.
Je vous remercie beaucoup. votre souhait est devenu l'une des petites joies de mon quotidien!
Hello, Diane.
Thank you very much. your wish has become one of the little joys of my daily life!
Two UK super talents who started way back in the 80s are still going on strong in 2022 with this poptastic single. Has elements of "Always on my mind" which I truly love. This will be coming out on CD single April 2022 and a 12" vinyl out November 2022.
Definitely. Oh and there's a 12" too!
@@LostwaveObsession NEVER MIND I JUST FOUND. WHY THE HELL IS NOT BEING RELEASED UNTIL NOVEMBER 2022??!! NINE MONTHS FROM NOW THAT IS CRAZY, THE CD MAXI IS COMING OUT APRIL 2022 AND DOWNLOAD IS OUT NOW. THIS IS NOT GOOD MARKETING IMO. ANYWAY I AM HAPPY ABOUT THE VINYL RELEASE.
@@garypamatat3167 It's crazy isn't it. I think the best thing will be is to order both separately because a 6-7 month wait for the cd (packing both together) would test my patience!
Where did you find this information? I want to pre-order the Cd single in April 2022.
@@d.sussenbach2646 at lexer music uk the cd maxi is there for pre sale at 7.00 gbp not including shipping. Have a great day.
Another great song by the Boys... they still know how to make em they way they always did... long live Neil & Chris (and Marc).
Even though there is a limited audience for this today, it's so great Soft Cell and PSB remembered us Gen Xers, as well as many boomers. No doubt this track would have been a well known song in the 80s if released back then...possibly even top 40 potential...great job guys!
I just saw PSB last night at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and they were sold out two days in in a row so maybe limited but there's still an audience.
Indeed. I'm a Xennial or late Gen-Xer and I love PSB. I was never a big fan of Soft Cell, though.
This aged poorly....
THEY GOT TOP 1 IN THE UK SINGLES CHARTS
Edit: (for vinyl)
I would lke to thank you and the Pet shop boys, for a great song, us old ones feel the words, this is my favorite song. Thank you for putting my thoughts into words. love xx
Im60 next year..great song..and the 80s will never fade..youngsters now love these songs! My niece is 22 and said I love 80s music! New music is crap..tells me alot! Enjoy!
"Always On My Mind" meets "Go West". Nice!
Exactly what I'm thinking!
A men's choir would have been the cherry of the cake.
