Jonas, I agree with Solinco Confidential, which I tried two days ago full bed 50 pounds Pro Staff 97 V13, and felt really solid, firm and control oriented strings for control oriented precision rackets such as PS 97 V13. Good power as well. Hyper G Soft have tried it recently full bed 51 pounds on a Blade V7 16x19 and it seemed I could get more angle launch and spin, maybe little bit less stiffer somewhat softer.

Hi Jonas, many thanks for this. I tried the Tour Bite 16L (1.25) at 50 lbs on the Tfight RS305, and although I like the overall feel, the stiffness was rather unpleasant. I typically use Hyper-G 16L in the 50-53lbs, and they fit better for my style, but I think the 17 gauge on a 18x19 should be a better choice, so this is what I will use next! I also got a couple of sets of Solinco Hybrid (Tour Bite + Vanquish), but I have not tested that combo. Looking forward to it. Again, thanks for the precious info on your website / YT channel. Cheers, Max (I live in Silver Spring, very close to Arlington, where you used to live ;-)).

I like the combination of solinco hyper g on the mains with tier one ghost strings on the crosses strung at 52 lbs during the cold months. They give a nice ball pocketing and also pros pro red devil on mains with tier one ghost in the crosses when the weather in warmer, strung at 55 lbs.

So I tried a few sets of solinco hyper g soft in the crosses with gamma Ocho XP in the mains in my ezone 100. I like it a lot. But since I had previously bought a reel of Kirschbaum evolution, I am now using that in the crosses with the gamma Ocho XP.
I have also tried confidential in the crosses with natural gut in the mains. Good hybrid set up also.

I'ne been using Solinco strings for a while now. I really like the Confidential 18g. I just put Hyper G soft in my Volkl V-1 Pro at 48. I thought I would like it more, but I must say it was flying a bit on me. I think I just have to dial it in a bit. I also tried a couple of Solinco racquets last night...black and whit. It was ok. Nothing that thrilled me. I would definitely have to hit with it longer to get a better idea.

As I recall you mentioned a hybrid was prolly what you preferred & were @ 55/53 lbs. tension for a soft/poly setup but that was your initial review so any change after trying other (setups)?

I played the solinco tour bite for some time and liked it very much. Also tried solinco vanquish (never gonna try a multi again...) and the solinco confidential. About a year ago a coach recommended the tour bite soft to me. Same spin, same control, great touch!
I don´t break strings soon so i am able to play the 1,10mm gauge which is unusual 😂. 26/25kg in my head extreme pro. Lasts for 4-5 hours.

    1. Solinco Whiteout 305 compared to Head Graphene 360+ Speed MP? Not the specs, but the playability (Control, Power, Stability, Comfort, Touch/Feel, Groundstrokes, Serve, Sweet Spot/Zone).
    2. The Whiteout will come in two versions (290 and 305) with weights (Butt Cap) to adjust. So, does the 290 with the heaviest weight (if its 5, 10 and 15 g) play like the 305 with the lightest or without?

I put Tourbite in my Ncode six one 95 and the Ultra Tour v2 (weighted up). The Ultra Tour is very nice but the Ncode is just too muted or maybe stiff or both? It just doesn't feel good. Feels like I'm hitting baseballs with a baseball bat. Would a softer string like the hyper g soft give it a better feel? I'm tempted to just put in a natural gut like babolat vs or Luxilon but I know very little about strings and would like to give the Ncode another chance. Is there a certain string and spec that would improve this rackets feel?

I have played Revolution from Solinco, in a 17 gauge in a Prince Phantom 93 18x20. In my experience, it's the deadest of all the Solinco strings, and I have played Hyper G, Confidention and Tour Bite. I recently purchased the yonex vcore pro 97 310. This is my first foray back into a more control orientated frame since college. I had been played solinco hyper-g soft in my yonex ezone, and really enjoyed the combo. I put 1.15 hyper-g soft into the vcore pro, and I don't think they synergize as well as the ezone. Any string recommendations for this frame in particular, or what you normally go to for control frames that need a little more spin/pop? Cheers.

I use an Ezone 98 Tour and use Confidential 17 gauge. I find the combo of power frame and control string to be a good combo. For a more control oriented frame (like VCore Pro 97) I have heard gut/poly setups work well or a soft poly. Polytour Pro might work well as I have heard that is a nice soft poly.

Yonex Poly Tour Pro plays soft but in my experience and many others the strings die after maybe 6-8 hours of singles play or 10-14 hours of doubles play and you'll need to restring. I want to try this - nice find. I play the v7 18x20 as well and want to try this combo. What tension did you string it at? How long is it lasting with good tension? That’s one reason I like Multis in the cross and 4G/Tour Bite on the main: holds tension super well.

      @naokisonoda-hq 2 роки тому +1

@@thomaschippendale5503 I’ve strung this setup anywhere from 46 lbs to 49lbs, and I’ve settled on 47-48 as of late. I’d say they last about 7-10 hours of play before I cut them out.
However, I only cut them out to prevent a breakage during play-not because they feel bad or have had major tension loss. In fact, this setup holds tension extremely well.
If you like 4G crossed with a multi like Vanquish, X1 Biphase or Wilson Sensation, you’ll find that Jet 18 + OG Sheep Micro 17 will give you a noticeably crisper feel and more bite on the ball.
If you like a softer feel, stick with what you have. Personally, I found 4G crossed with a multi to feel a bit too soft and pillowy. The good news about my setup is that it’s very affordable. You should try it. It really brings the Blade 98 V7 18 x 20 to life.

This summer I tried Tour Bite, Hyper G and Confidential in 17 (1.20) gauge in my Prince Phantom 93 14x18.
-They are all stiff and they are all low durability; I snapped all of them after 4-6 hours.
-Tour Bite does have vicious spin, Hyper G is more lively but plays boardy for the first hour.
-Decent control and power from all of them.
-Most dwell time from Hyper G.
-There is a lot of hype about Confidential but I didn't notice anything extraordinary.
The durability makes no sense though, these strings are made from material that notches faster than any I've ever used.

Agree with Daniel. I used to play the Phantom 93 14x18, and it makes no sense to use such a thin gauge if durability is what you're after. I had decent durability when using the 16 gauge in that frame. The 17 gauge is really at home in the 18x20 version.

Great overview, thanks! I know you at least used to play alot with the Pro staff 97 v13. Which Solinco string do you prefer in that frame? This video came very timely as I have been looking to switch strings in my PS97 v13. Going from Wilson Revolve Spin - to maybe Confidential, maybe Hyper G Soft, or maybe Head Lynx Tour? I just feel that there should be some better strings out there for this frame, with nicer feel and maybe a bit more pop, without sacrificing to much control. Very hard to know where to start! Hälsningar från hemlandet. 👋

Lynx tour and confidential are stiffer than hyper G soft and revolve spin in my experience, and will not give you extra pop. Hyper G soft and revolve spin are similar, but I like the Solinco better. As far as feel goes, I think the racket plays a big part here, and while I play well with the PS97, I hate how it feels regardless of string, the racket feels stiff and board like to me (little pocketing/flex). If I were you I would try out something different, I have been liking the poly/multi combo strings like the Technifibre HDMX and Yonex Rexis speed. More pop and feel than poly, just a little less control, spin, and durability. If you want to stick with poly, try the hyper g soft as it’s most similar and then maybe yonex poly tour pro or volkl cyclone tour in 18G, or hybrid them with a multi @ 46-50 lbs

@@lysergicsalamander Thanks for a great reply! Really appreciate it. I've tried lots of strings in other frames, but only Revolve Spin in the PS97, so it's very valuable to hear your opinion about the racquet itself playing a big part. Then I know what I am in for when I experiment. In general I like the stiffness, but the pocketing goes missing from time to time. I have to make good contact and stay loose. I think I am going to try Hyper G soft for a start, then maybe a hybrid. I have half a reel of YPTP lying around for that. The more control-oriented multis are interesting (I tried one of them years ago, can't remember which, possibly a Wilson) in a Volkl C10. I liked it, just never gotten around to them again. Lowering the tension in general seems like a good idea too. Thanks again. Thumbs up to your profile pic! 👍

@@spoonfed1548 if you have the YPTP laying around I’d definitely give that a try right at 48-50 depending on what tension you play now. I’m using the blue YPTP 17G @ 48 right now in my new Yonex VCP 97H and love it. I’d highly recommend giving the new the H, D, & 310 a demo if you like the pro staff and want to play around with a new stick. Much better feel, and more power in the H & D if you can handle the weight.

@@lysergicsalamander Thanks for the advice! I always thought YPTP felt to plastic, or something, in a full bed so after a half a reel I just switched. But it's the only rounded poly I have so figured I'd try it in a hybrid. The new Yonex frames seem good, thanks for the tip. Good they are working out for you. I've been switching frames to often the last few years, so I am trying to stick to the PS97 v 13. But I like Yonex. Swung the Dr 98 for 18 months, the Vcore pro 97Hd for a good while and most recently the SVCORE 95 (the shapo stick). All very different, but good. Throw in the RF97, Ultra Tour, TF40 305 and even a Radical for a month and you'll understand why I am trying to stay put. The PS97 v13 gives me a little bit of everything.

Hey @spoonfed I'm in a very similar position - I just switched to the Pro Staff 97 v13 and love the control and precision I'm getting with it. I had been stringing with Wilson Revolve Spin in the mains at 51 and Solinco Vanquish multi in the crosses at 53. It feels pretty good, but curious to try something else and have been hearing such great things about all 3 of these solinco strings. Did you try them yet? How'd it work out for you? I'm a 5.0 player (former D1 college player, but 41 now), serve and volley with a one hand bhand, if that matters. I'm leaning towards trying Tour Bite Soft, or Confidential, possibly in a full bed if it doesn't hurt my arm (had tennis elbow years ago, and more recently some bicep soreness, but it hasn't been a an issue for a while now).

When I had a Pure Drive Tour I really liked pro line ii black 1.15mm at 53lbs....in general Kirschbaum have nice strings in my opinion anyway (what works for one may not be for another as they say though)

Solico strings on the whole are pretty stiff, unfeeling strings. They're really made for college level and above players who need to deaden the power of their swings so they can get consistent accuracy while being able to impart all the power into heavy spin. The softer polys lose tension super fast. Most folks are better off using multifilament or even synth gut.

Good note, Solinco really invest a lot in United States College program, unlike Yonex or Babolat who invest more in Teenagers and weak side of the population , so I really think they are mostly made for D3-1 college
