Romulus was good. I walked in with very low expectations and came out thinking this was a fine addition to the franchise and would be placed between the first two films as a must see for any new fans.
Even if that's true, it's still a substandard film. I've explained my own perspective in the last Romulus video you produced, as well as a somewhat recent community post. It's just not a good movie. Speaking for myself, I'd rather see the Alien franchise just be kept on ice for now. Same with Predator, for that matter. P.S. got my backing in for Comic Book yesterday :)

Them being some variations of British aside (I'm not sure about Robert Meyer Burnett, BTW), having watched that video in question myself right before this one I was under the impression that their main complaint in that video about Alien: Romulus was that it tried too hard to _copy the stuff that should've been unique to that iteration directly from the other Alien films_ more than anything else about it, basically J.J. Abrams copying A New Hope almost beat-for-beat when he made The Force Awakens to the point where I was able to predict Kylo ending Han seeing it in theaters without even being spoiled beforehand.
There are signs everywhere that say “Left Lane for passing ONLY” it’s a freaking law. It’s the reason why traffic doesn’t move. Because some person decides they want to go on a cruise. Or regulate how fast people travel. GTF to the right 🤣😆😆
The rifle your describing sounds like the smart rifle Drake and Vasquaz use in Aliens. However, I concede they didn't fully show the capabilities of the rifle in that movie. I'm starting to want to see Alien Romulus now. I want to like things and see and enjoy good things. I'm quite tired of all the negativity; so much so, I've stopped watching a lot of the YT channels I've watched for years because they just rehash the same tired ass shit.
It was enjoyable. And I too am now giving up on YT movie reviews. There are channels I used to trust that I realize now are using hate clickbait to get views. I now go experience films for myself THEN look for confirmation bias one way or the other on YT😂
When I saw the trailer for Alien: Romulus my first thought was, wow finally they are making an Alien movie that looks good. lol I watch a PlayStation channel where one of the hosts sings birthday songs in a Gollum voice which everyone loves. But the thing is he does it for free because it is just a fun little thing and not grifting.
In the Romulus movie they replaced the flamethrower iconic to the movies with liquid nitrogen spray instead which I thought was a cool change. That's all I wanted to add.
I'm just gonna say it. May not be a popular take, but I'm really digging the Zack vs the "Birthday Party Clown" content. The bit about Vitamin D got me. Also, don't forget to drink your Sunny D. A great source of Vitamin D.
Alien Romulus added a couple of interesting bits to the lore that was never shown or explained before (in the movies at least). They explained how Face huggers "see" and are able track their targets. They also showed a part of the Xenomorph growth cycle (the time between Chest burster to full grown Xeno). I thought both were cool additions I've always wondered about. Also, I didn't see the tracking Pulse Rifle as a way to show us how unremarkable Rain is (she's quite clever), I thought it was just an early prototype of the M56 Smartgun that Vasquez and Drake use in Aliens.
These folks moan and complain about the lack of original properties, but where were they when Raised by Wolves got cancelled. Ridley Scott was executive producer, had spiritual androids and weird birth science. Not a word. Definitely a recommend. Also, what with the Prometheus hate? Maybe they didn't act the smartest, but that film still holds up. David is a favorite character for sure. Even in Covenant, his scenes were the highlight of the film.

They did something similar when the Japanese-made Godzilla Minus One film came out, saying things like, 'Godzilla Minus One says F Hollywood.' The movie was more than fine, it was a good Alien movie to watch, it didn't have stupid politics, it didn't insult the audience's intelligence, it was fine. You could watch it in a hotel room while you're on the road like any other sci-fi movie. Rain, the MC, was a fine protagonist and shouldn't be remotely compared to a Mary Sue or "Girl Boss". Just saw Reagan in the theaters, are they going to review it or does it not count for BPC critique?

I love Alien and Prometheus. I like Alien Covenant, but was disappointed it wasn't more a sequel to Prometheus. I have not seen Alien Romulus yet but I really want to. I just don't go to theaters anymore so I will see it later. It looks good.

He still said a few days ago the movie did not make a profit yet,but it did the second week. He moves the goal post like some other channels on what makes a profit for movies,of course they are full of non-sense.

Why not properly explain how and why the woman was trained : to paraphrase tommy sotomayor we didn't mind the 1970's Wonder Woman / Chilesly angels / Ellen Ripley in the Original Alien movie/ Cagney and Lacey / the Original Foxy Brown movie / Zena Warrior princess the 1990/ crouching tight hidden dragon early 2000 unfortunately Training and properly earning powers and abilities is not properly explain or earned.

A woman could kill an unarmed man with a gun and the element of surprise if she's got enough training with the gun to be able to shoot it effectively in that situation. Theoretically, she could do the same with a melee weapon and the element of surprise if the competence can be demonstrated, but in that circumstance the physical strength matters a lot more. It still matters even with the gun, because strength and size still matters for being able to use a gun effectively, but it can be offset more realistically in that case. Really, the challenge when making a woman fight is being able to make their victories feel earned with respect to what you highlighted. Not disagreeing, but I do think this is relevant context in relation to your callout.
When you look at the wider picture the rule of cool cancels out the rule of sense a lot of the time in cinema. Bruce Lee beating up and fighting off waves of dudes. The only film I thought was really good with dealing with the problem of waves was The Raid. The most they had him fight was four guys at once in one scene.
I was annoyed when the drunkard literally pulled a shot from a guy who snuck a camera into the movie to try to make the "you bitch" scene look foolish out of context.
You're supposed to watch a movie review to get a glimpse into the movie from a certain perspective and to learn which perspectives you agree with most often when you experience it yourself. Unfortunately what "review culture" has become is content unto itself. Audiences watch Shouty Man because they like seeing people be mad at movies while having no desire to experience them. It's the cable news effect of dumbing down media literacy.
Oh, so choosing to oppose and stand against an agenda is is now something we shouldn't do? Things are changing BECAUSE so many of us stopped supporting their agenda.

I share your frustration with the UA-cam critics regarding Alien: Romulus. I don't know if you watch or like Rings of Power, but they definitely have a narrative to protect surrounding that show. Now that 3 episodes of season 2 have premiered, they hall have their videos proclaiming it to be the worst thing ever and a desecration of Tolkien. We don't know what Professor Tolkien would have thought, but his grandson is a credited consultant, and the Tolkien Estate provides feedback and grants permission to refer to things Amazon doesn't technically have the rights to. What's even funnier to me is that many of the UA-cam thumbnails feature images that are either from season one or from scenes in season 2 that have only appeared in trailers thus far...to me this supports your idea that these people don't actually watch the show or movie being discussed. Or at least, some of them don't, and then the rest lazily latch onto the new talking points.
The Fall Guy literally had a bumper at the beginning where Ryan Gosling and the director come out and say “we made this for YOU” and it was basically crickets. If they really cared about what they talk about, they would have given that movie as much advertisement as they give Lord of the Rings The Rings

Alien Resurrection is the worst Alien movie, by far. It will never be beaten. The worst of every 90s cliche imaginable.

I commented on Nerdrotic that I enjoyed the Legion tv show. On the next video I watched he looked directly at the camera in disgust and spat out how the last series went woke. Could be a coincidence but the show was old news at the time. Felt I was being scolded 😂 Immediately unsubbed. Never went back.

I already found Az insufferable and at this point you could assume everything has the woke check boxes without being told. Watching them feels like a waste of life.

I share your frustration with the UA-cam critics regarding Alien: Romulus. I don't know if you watch or like Rings of Power, but they definitely have a narrative to protect surrounding that show. Now that 3 episodes of season 2 have premiered, they hall have their videos proclaiming it to be the worst thing ever and a desecration of Tolkien. We don't know what Professor Tolkien would have thought, but his grandson is a credited consultant, and the Tolkien Estate provides feedback and grants permission to refer to things Amazon doesn't technically have the rights to. What's even funnier to me is that many of the UA-cam thumbnails feature images that are either from season one or from scenes in season 2 that have only appeared in trailers thus far...to me this supports your idea that these people don't actually watch the show or movie being discussed. Or at least, some of them don't, and then the rest lazily latch onto the new talking points.
The Fall Guy literally had a bumper at the beginning where Ryan Gosling and the director come out and say “we made this for YOU” and it was basically crickets.
If they really cared about what they talk about, they would have given that movie as much advertisement as they give Lord of the Rings The Rings
