What an amazing layout. The attention to detail is amazing and it is, as they say, just like the real thing used to be. I spent most of my working life on our railways and I am now 69. I can just remember as a little boy, standing with my dad at the crossing gates while a tank locomotive took some van wagons across the road to King George Dock, and I remember the fire man or the driver waving at me. I also remember my mum and dad taking me on train to Whitby via Scarborough and then on up the East Coast to Whitby. Now my son and I drive to Pickering and catch the train to Whitby Station. If only the line was still open I feel sure, what with the state of our roads now, the railway would do very well. I believe Marpel and Beeching have a lot to answer for. Sorry I am getting on my high horse again. Once again thank you for a great channel and a wonderful layout. Well done sir. 👍🚂

Hi Martin. There are a lot of us on that horse!!! Thanks for your kind comments and stories. If I can bring back some memories, I am pleased that what I am trying to do is happening :-)

I always enjoy your content. Interesting and entertaining and just good old railway modelling. It really is a very impressive layout and things are coming together very nicely. I find the ‘junk and stuff’ great fun as well as hiding a few surprises or details around the layout

Very Interesting update, thanks. Love the junk and stuff and the way you use incomplete models on the layout - it gives you a feel for the potential final look and encourages you to make sure it all blends together before finalising things. It also saves you time in the long run because you don't spend a lot of time detailing something that doesn't quite fit the scene. The Yarslow platform shelter is lovely.

Hi Jonathanstanley. I'm glad someone makes sense of the chaos!! To be honest, I tend to flit between jobs but that does allow changes as I go along. Yesterday I changed the news kiosk at TSQ - I bought a lovely kit for a wooden version (Ancorton?? kit) I will show it next time. Thanks for your kind comments.

You look at a scene and often think - there's something missing. But it's usually difficult to say what that "something" is. But as junk gets added the scene begins to look more realistic... trash bins, post boxes, fire hydrants, coke cans/bottles, discarded newspapers, the station masters cat, pigeons, etc.

Indeed Neil. Just been to Railex Buxton for some more bits - including some cats from West Hill Wagon Works.

They are VERY delicate but well worth it - Scale Model Scenery. I went for the thin one - there is a more robust version if you are not feeling so brave.

Trinity Square is really coming along!
I see your suburban rake has a Thompson lavatory coach in the middle of it. Where did you get that, as I don't think any current major manufactory makes them.

Hi. The non-vestibule stock comes from Hornby - still available I think. There is a Br2nd, all 2nd and lav compo. The "Coastal" set is made up of 5 of them as they are slightly shorter than the Mk I subs and I have a couple of others sneaked into other trains. The other Lav Compo is used as a "strengthener" on an express - something a little different but authentic.
