The fact that Aaravos is a giant holding Viren in the palm of his hand just proves that Viren is an just means to an end, pawn in a game of chess.
People think Aaravos is always 2 steps ahead, but he's not even playing the same game.

Proves? You had any doubt about it?
Did anyone else notice the parallels between Viren turning to stone and Avizandum? The out stretched arm, the slow, creeping stone, the last teardrop as the spell completes. That can’t be accidental, it has to be foreshadowing something. Perhaps Viren will betray Aaravos to save Soren (or try to convince him to come back to their side) and Aaravos will destroy him once he’s no longer useful.
Maybe he's the one who originally invented the spell that did the stone transformation? Or set things in motion to murder the dragon? Maybe he's even the one who taught dark magic to the humans and was imprisoned for it? Given that he was there and took magic from the prince, I'd bet the caterpillar is his way of getting free from the place he was held in for so long. I bet he'll turn out to be a genocidal madman with a calm, calculating mind, which are the most dangerous kind.
The cycle of violence is a major theme in the show
More likely he will dispose of Viren and find a way to manipulate Claudia. He also expressed a vested interest in keeping her onboard (i.e. he cautioned viren not to tell her to the truth or he would lose her, and commented that she was a “valuable asset”).
Edit: on second thought, having read “patience,” I think aaravos will probably go for Callum next (maybe Claudia will be his backup option)

Well "Mystery of Aaravos" is the name of the second phase of the Dragon Prince storyline. It's going to comprise of Books 4-6, so if we don't get all the answers next seson, we should get in 5 or 6.

I think it's reflection of his character he turned the dragon king into stone needlessly and manipulated his friend for ages even using his dead wife(which HE got killed) as an excuse he also corrupted his body and soul with dark magic and having his own family so divided in a way he is receiving the full debt of using dark magic for so long so often and seeing that the dragons were right and that it always costs more than it's worth

Castlevania is far superior in intellectualism and animation but this show is getting better with each season so hopefully it gets closer. The choppy frame rates are just horrendous tho lmao

All the previous teases about Aaravos over the last few days made this a little underwhelming for me, admittedly. Still, I'm excited that we're definitely getting season 4 this year! The teaser was beautiful too --- I love how Viren turning to stone is a direct callback to when he brought the same fate on Avizandum.

I mean, I don't think that's how it will turn out, personally, it makes most sense for Season 5 to be Ocean, Season 6 to be Star, and Season 7 to be Dark Magic

S5 pretty likely to be Ocean, S6 Stars, S7 Dark / Darkness
Considering the way that Viren was represented by turning into stone, indicating fixed in place, and having a tear run down his face, indicating regret or perhaps pain, I suspect that the viewers may yet take on a more sympathetic perspective on the character. What intrigues me is the fact that Aaravos isn't looking menacing at Viren as some antagonist might, he's looking at Viren... almost lovingly or compassionately.
You’ve probably already seen the other comments pointing it out, but his petrification parallels Thunder’s in season 3. Everything from reaching to the sky to the tear running down his cheek.
Your interpretation of symbolism is interesting. Perhaps it simply is poetic justice, or perhaps there is a double meaning to the gestures. Either way, I look forward to the next season
I also noticed Aaravos's expression and thought it was interesting! This entire sequence is packed full of symbolism, so I'm wondering what significance that might have. The main theory going around is that Aaravos originally taught humans dark magic. So I have to wonder if his expression in this scene is supposed to signify that his initial actions toward the humans were out of compassion. If there's a double meaning in this sequence, it could be that Viren reaching up to the stars and being picked up by Aaravos suggests he's not only being played as a pawn in present day, but also that Aaravos helped the humans when they were at their lowest point in the past. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it's fun to speculate.
@@supremeoverlorde2109 It is fun to speculate, lol. I suspect that Aaravos picking up Viren as a stone figurine to inspect it merely was that. The star-touched elf was merely examining Viren in closer detail. Although I noticed someone posting a comment made by one of the creators of the show that Aaravos picking up Viren was a reference to the new board game with figurines that was coming out or already has come out. The posting is somewhere on a facebook group fans talk about the show on.
@@brianburke4756 Well, that would be kind of boring and underwhelming if that's all we're supposed to take away from it lol. At least in my opinion anyway. I do think at the very least it might signify that Viren's going to be paying a hefty price for his actions --- especially since we see him in the same position he left Avizandum in during season 3's flashback. I was hoping to see Viren start to come to his senses this season while watching his daughter descend further into darkness and ultimately turn against Aaravos... but this make me think that MIGHT not happen. At least maybe not as soon as this season. We'll see, I guess.

OH MY GOD, FINALLY !!! I’m not over exaggerating or joking when I say this, I’ve watched the first 3 seasons 6 times over and over (and i will do more, because this is a fantastic project worthy or recognition and time) while awaiting at least something regarding this new season.

The mystery is how he gets his voice that deep.
He needs your face first.
Here are my predictions:
There will be a time skip of at least three or four years and the first few episodes will alternate between bringing the audience up to speed on what's been happening during those years and filling in the back story of Aaravos and possibly Callum's birth father.
Zym will have grown to the size where he can fly carrying an averaged sized, unarmored person for several miles and summon small storms.
Rayla will spend much of season four looking for her parents, possibly with the help of Ethari who realized that Runaar's lotus hadn't sunk all of the way and Janai who wants Viren's hide. She'll also be dealing with blow back from other elves for becoming friendly with humans, including the families of those who were killed fighting the Crown Guard.
Ezran will be dealing with hostile reactions to his plans for peaceful relations with Xadia, both from within Katolis and the three kingdoms who don't want to believe that it was Viren who sent those smoke assassins to kill their rulers. Anyan will also be having problems because of her decision to aid Xadia.
Callumn will spend his time between aiding Ezran, perfecting his mastery of Sky Magic, possibly improving his fighting skills and figuring out how to teach other humans how to connect his Primal Sources with which they have affinities. I'd also like one of his first students to be Ellis who Lugane discovers, much to own surprise, has an affinity with the Moon Arcanum.
Seeing what Dark Magic does to Claudia will force Viren to realize just how dangerous it is and what it's been doing to him. He may also learn, possibly from Soren, how humanity is starting to benefit from Ezran's and Callum's vision for the future. He will probably end up freeing the elves he's imprisoned and give his life to defend Soren, the princes, possibly even Zym or Rayla, and his sacrifice will end up driving Claudia deeper into Aaravos's grip.
I would love that! but it's not possible, the comic already stated the start of the season.

Aaravos in the mirror: So it begins
This is probably my favorite animated show ever, and I'm so glad it's coming back soon after so long suffering through the TDP drought lol and for me, a million rewatches. Like pretty much everyone else, I'm definitely intrigued by Aaravos and his backstory (as well as learning more about Startouch elves in general). Its good to see that the next season will touch on that, as I hoped it might! I wonder if Viren turning to stone here as an obvious callback to Avizandum's death might potentially be foreshadowing his fate soon?
OMG i am so happy. The video gave me goosebumps. I mean what do we see in this video. The background music is beautiful, mystical, but also sad and ominous. We see viren petrified with a sad face and forgetting a tear. Similar to Thunder on his death. Then we see Aaravos picking up the viren and showing that the viren was or is just a character for him. I'm really looking forward to season 4. Finally we learn more about Aaravos and his plans. I'm guessing Season 4 will be out in September, October, or November.

Look at the views!! Im so happy that the community seems to be active again! Its been two years since Ive been in the fandom and the TPD community has been kinda dead, but now with season 4 it seems that the fandom is starting to thrive again!!
I already watched the season 4 and it was confirmed that avazindum did not defeat aaravous in a fight, it was by tricking and traping him because the truth is that aaravous is the real most powerful being in all of xadia and the world, if not the entire universe as well since he is pretty much a god as zubeia herself confirmed it
the pose and stonification is a perfect mirror of Thunder's death. Hand outstretched toward the sky as a tear rolls down his stoney face. A foreshadowing that his fate will be the same and he'll be hit by the same dark spell that hit Thunder?
And that his last thought would be of his child as well. Maybe a not very original, but an ironic and worthy end for his story arc.
Not me in tears when this came out.
So far none of the "villains" seem truly evil or beyond redemption, Viren truly cares about humanity in a twisted way, Claudia is too innocent for this world, I hope she discovers her arcanum at some point. If Aaravos would be beyond redemption, he would have been disentegrated in dragon fire, not locked away in a prison that looks quite nice
The Dragon Prince has done a pretty good job so far of creating well-written characters who are not completely good or completely evil. We know so little about Aaravos so far, but I'm convinced that he isn't really "evil" so much as angry and bitter after being locked away for centuries. He's had a lot of time to let his hatred stew, and now he's out for vengeance against Xadia. The big question is --- whatever he did --- which I'm guessing at this point was to teach the humans dark magic, were his intentions in doing so decent? Or were they motivated by some other vendetta/desire for power?
I saw things pretty differently. Viren says he cares about humanity and probably tells himself that as well, but everything he's done for 'humanity' has been things that give him more power and get other people hurt. Claudia seems 'innocent' but if anything I get Anakin Skywalker vibes, a possessive control freak who will trample all over the wishes and happiness of everyone around her to get what she wants.
Claudia isn't a villain at all honestly. She's just an extremely misguided girl being manipulated by the person she trusts most. Unfortunately I think things are gonna get worse before they get better

Concerned? I think no. They are a reference to Aaravos being a “fallen star” himself, there will be more of his backstory and theme for sure.
I love how the logo has a falling star go onto to O in Aaravos, symbolizing that he is a fallen star.
I think this scene means that Aaravos is making some kind of big elaborate plan for some grand scheme. And he sees Viren a just a pawn in his game. I think that’s what it means when he turns to stone and gets picked up by Aaravos. He probably sees the return of the dragon prince and all of the things that he did with Viren as just a game. I hope Callum, Ezran, Rayla, and Zym are clever enough to beat Aaravos at his own game. Hopefully this next season could give us some insight into what Aaravos is planning. What do you think Aaravos’ grand scheme is?

I'm going to be honest, I think Xadia is trying to take down the elves and dragons for imprisoning him, while simultaneously pulling the strings on the humans, he just wants to watch them fight and he wants to end out on top

To be honest, that should have been a huge red flag for Viren regarding how much he could trust Aaravos or how dangerous he really was.

Viren's pose being the same as Avizandum is definitely not a coincidence. I see multiple scenarios playing out:
-Claudia realizes her father is actually evil and joins Soren. Viren is turned to stone as Claudia leaves.
-Aaravos realizes Viren has served his purpose and moves on to his next puppet, Claudia. Viren, realizing what he is doing, tries to reach out for Claudia, but is turned to stone.
-Similar to the first scenario, but Viren doesn't turn to stone right away. Rather, Aaravos wait until he is alone to turn him to stone. In his final moments, he sees Pip flying over, which people have speculated holds Harrow soul, meaning the last thing he sees is his former friend.
I love the parallel between Viren and The Dragon King in this. Both turn to stone while reaching for something. It might just be the AP English talking, but I find that cool between two so opposite characters

YESSSS IM SO EXCITED FOR THIS. This has been one of my favorite shows (if not absolute favorite) since I watched it when it realeased. It feels like it was a different life back in 2019 when season three aired, but I am still a big a fan as ever 😅

I always had thoughts of Aaravos and his past. It’ll be very interesting to see his backstory and what evil plan he has for the protagonists.

Aaravos is so precious, there's going to be a lot of good juicy backstory that paints him as someone he isn't.
i hope they pull a reverse-zuko on this one, i want the entire season to be about a sweet baby Aaravos who gets betrayed and hurt and forced into bad situations that he DECIDES to become the bastard man we see in the first three seasons 😂 also is that Tui and La in the opening constellation? (the two fishes in the pond in A:TLA)

If you look at the map at the beginning, you'll see Sol Regem at the top but more importantly, Aaravos as a child to the left. He might have been much younger when he was involved with Elarion and the dragons.

If you notice that when Viren turns into stone, it's the same thing that happens when Viren and King Harrow used the spell to kill Zym's father. This could be an irony to Viren's downfall. Also, does anyone notice the Sol Regem symbol on the constellation map? This could indicate what we are about to learn about Aaravos under Dragon King Sol Regem's reign in that time.
