  • I put a Vortex ECU on my 2022 Yamaha YZ450F and was shocked of what a difference it made. It felt like a completely different bike, from engine character and handling aspect as well. In the video I go through the problems I was having with my Yamaha, and how this Vortex ECU has been the best remedy to fixing and harnessing the power that the bike comes stock with. This ECU makes this YZ450F more manageable coming across closer to some characters from the Austrian 350s i've rode. But with the push of button I can turn in into a fire breathing dragon again with the other maps it comes loaded with.
I go through the engine character transformation as it does have a 350 power delivery but a true 350 will feel a little bit more nimble but even with the ecu swap it did help with cornering off throttle.
If you're solely looking for a dirt bike motor character fix, a Vortex ECU for whatever bike your riding is a must have.

Please make a more detailed video on this map if you can. I literally just posted my 21 yz450f with 15 hours for sale because of the same issue. The 250s are not enough power. This seems like it will work but other than buy a vortex I guess get it tuned?

I for sure will if I can find out if I can get the info from the ECU. But the ecu is locked unless I have the Tuning computer program, but it would only work on a vortex Ecu. I tried like 15 maps and making my own on the Yamaha Tuner App and It was like a 15% difference at best toward what I was looking for out of the bike, this was my last shot on keeping this bike and decided to pull the trigger on, and got a used one because I was not confident it would change the bike as much as I wanted and I figured I could just resell the ECU for the same price as purchased it for and sell my bike after if it didn't make a big change. But after this ECU switch I will not have to do that and absolutely love it now. The vortex ECU has I believe 600 points of adjustability while the Yamaha Tuner app has 60 thats I believe there was such a big difference in feel. It is a ton of money but after riding it with this ECU i'd even buy a ECU at full price because it made that big of a difference and I love this bike that much. I think if you talked to any engine builder in a effort to make it more linear and rideable they will tell you to get a aftermarket tuned ecu, but maybe worth giving someone a call to see if there is a cheaper option.

Dumb question, but why not buy an actual 350 if you like neither the 250 nor the 450?

@janniksims5740 Not a stupid question I was considering it if I didn't come across this fix, but I love the Yamaha 450 suspension and most everything of the bike but the power delivery wore me out fast. The Yamaha 250 version is not enough for me, and doesn't fit my riding style and they don't currently make a 350 or I'd buy one in a second. The 350s on the market are from the Austrian brands( KTM family) with WP suspension and am not a huge fan of air forks and I felt uncomfortable on the bikes so my goal was always to get the Yamaha tamed down close to a 350 character so I could have close to the best of both worlds as I could.

@@BRAAAPCREWMOTO I honestly don't get what everybody is on about with the air forks... I have a 18 CRF 250 r with spring forks and they are great. I rode the 21 FC 350 of a friend and the forks were great as well. It feels like most people have never ridden an airfork and still complain about stuff that's not there... But if you actually ridden them and don't like it, then sure that's a preference and don't be bothered by an idiot like me

@janniksims5740 It wasn't horrible I can see see where people would prefer air, it just wasn't as good as my current suspension for me on rough corners, bumps and chatter. I did like the hold up on bigger jumps though. I'm sure I could get it close to my current set up with some back and forth with a suspension shop.
