The soft flame with the strike insert is wind resistant. Worked great lighting a cigarillo on a windy day. I honestly have never even filled a standard Zippo insert let alone use it on a windy day.
this is best insert for zippo on market for me. but when I started read feedbacks on amazon. I decided ask you first :) a lot of people on amazon gave negative feedback. 1. it comes already in not working condition 2. or stops working after few days 3. stop working after first recharge what you think they lost their manufacturing quality?? your old one works fine? do you use it often? thanks
I don't use it at home, I have a triple torch table lighter for that. But when I'm out and about, it goes with me and hasn't failed yet. It's been refilled a few times now.
I bought both the dual flame and the soft flame versions. These things burn up the butane after only five lightings. Does anyone else have this problem?
Could be. I usta use whatever butane I could buy and had problems. After I started using Xikar Purofine High performance butane I haven't had any problems. It costs a bit more but it's good stuff.
Chooglin' with Snubby that’s what I used and worked beautifully, after about the tenth ignition, the eyelet came off. You know if that’s fixable or is the thing junk now?
Thanks for the review bud, I couldn't seem to find one featuring the vector insert with both the soft flame and the jet. Are there any adjustments that can be made to the flames? And have you experienced any issues? I am so tired of buying lighters to have em break and Vector looks like a reputable company, what with the nice warranties they offer. About how often do you need to refill with regular use? Thanks a lot for taking the time to review this dandy little lighter!
You're welcome. The flames are adjustable but not independently. There's one adjustment screw on the bottom for both flames. It doesn't usually light with one click, usually takes two or three and the fit in the Zippo housing was a little loose. I squeezed the housing a bit with a clamp and it fits fine now. It'll toast a few cigars. Not sure how many, never really kept track but it seems like a decent amount.
With a standard ZIPPO, it is not correct to say the gas is "flowing" when you open it. The wick is always ready to be lit, due to the nature of the design. It has nothing to do with the cap being "open". All that does, is allow you access to the wick.

Nope, the valve opens when the lighter opens and closes when the lighter's closed.

Amazon has the dual flame and torch flame for less than 20 bucks !!!

I'm happy to say that I haven't had to try their warranty yet. The warranty was a selling point for me as well.
