Good luck to Sligo against Motherwell!!! Sligo are definitely going to be more battle-hardened and probably fitter than their Scottish opponents who are in pre-season so have a big advantage here to Sligo Rovers. Personally I won't be surprised to see Sligo progressing on to the next round.
@@peterhamill7927 I'm really enjoying his Ireland videos. The clubs all have a fascinating history. Dixie Dean scoring five headers for Sligo Rovers; a 1920s match ball would have been heavy (more so if it was wet).Dean must have had a cast iron forehead.
@HHH Football Vlogs You have posted this a few times. Sadly, due to scrotes who follow Bray, Sam is better of avoiding Cabinteely altogether......oh sorry, Bray.
That world map of players will need an update - Sligo currently have 2 New Zealand Internationals playing for them - Max Mata and Nando Pijnaker. Nando actually played in NZ's World Cup playoff match against Cost Rica a few weeks ago.
Bit unlucky, you didn't reach two pubs which are close to The Showgrounds. One just few steps away from stadium, and second maybe 200 meters away. As for decades they were hosting both Rovers and visitors fans, they are strongly linked to club and you could possibly hear some interesting stories about the club. I'm bit disappointed you didn't mention incredible Rovers fans. Whenever Sligo played cups finals in previous decade, they were supported by 12 up to 17 thousands fans travelling to Dublin. 12 to 17 K while town has around 17-20 K citizens:) As a East European living in Sligo for around 15 years I was always shocked when I heard about those figures. I was lucky to attend 2014 FAI Cup final against Drogheda, and from over 700 live football games which in my life I've seen live, that was match which I will remember as the best which I witnessed. C'mon Rovers!
Welcome to Sligo Sam. Great to see you visiting our club. Fantastic videos, very enjoyable and interesting. Definitely one of the best football vlogs I have ever watched.
Great video Sam.🔴⚪ With me being younger I think seamie would be my favorite out of the two. Great to see how good career played out after he left rovers.
Been waiting on this. My old home town. Re: Coleman - i think rovers had a sell on clause but of course he wasnt (to date). But i think they still settled with Everton for any potential sell on at a later date when they ran into money troubles.
also the manager in the 2013 2014 photos is the current Northern Ireland manager (for the moment anyway) who ironically left us to become Motherwell manager!
Also Glad u visited Linfield Sam, and of course u filmed both Nottingham based clubs, love that. Keep up the Content and hope u enjoyed Ireland, both republican and Northern.
If you visit county cork you should visit Crosshaven just south of Cork City as Bobby Tambling has been living there since the 1973/74 (when he moved to Cork to play for Cork Celtic) and has managed their local team Crosshaven FC until the mid 2000s C: a lot of legends played in the old Cork Celtic/Cork Alberts team including Geoff Hurst and Ian Callaghan! It’s worth reading up on. Sligo lost the FAI Cup Final in 1939 and during the reception after the game, Dean’s loser’s medal was stolen from his bedroom. In 1978 he came to Dublin to watch Sligo Rovers in the FAI Cup Final against Shamrock Rovers (spit) and his stolen medal was delivered to his hotel room. There was actually a book written about his time with Sligo Rovers called “In the Shadow of Benbulben: Dixie Dean at Sligo Rovers”. It was published in May and it’s on Amazon.
Who do they hold dearest? It might be Sean Fallon. His Dad was also Mayor of Sligo. After all, Coleman is a Donegal man and Dean an Englishman. "The Iron Man" is THE MAN!
Will you be down to cork on friday. City are playing Galway should be packed enough. You could also go see corks old football ground which is now a gaa stadium..pairc u rinn formerly known as flower lodge. George best actually played there
I wonder if they had kept it what it would be like. It's a great venue for gaa matches and soccer matches generated a better atmosphere usually so it's a pity really like

Hi Sam, I'm a big Rangers and Everton fan from Down Under - loving your Ireland / Nth Ireland videos. I knew the whole Irish system was a little different but your education of whos who in what league has helped solve some riddles. My vote would go to Seamus in your poll :)
Great video! The 'United Nations' wall looks like it be missing Pascal Millien, Haiti international who was part of 2012 league win, used to do backflips after scoring
Everton actually established an offical partnership with Sligo Rovers in the last 1 or 2 years, which is great considering the links between both clubs and how it can help Sligo develop with players loaned from Everton
That hotel there at the end, I recognize it from the Peter Bergmann case. Check it out here on youtube. It's an unsolved mystery ... There's footage of this guy coming out of the Sligo City Hotel..
Sam when Dixie Dean was scoring his Goals for Everton there was a unknown Scotsman on the wing by the name of Eck Troup played majority of his games in Scotland for Forfar Athletic and Dundee when he was at Everton he also ran a gentleman's outfitters in his home town of Forfar
Mind you Ireland is a rural country, so Sligo is actually a big town (and some Sligo folk would argue it's a small city) so the bit'o'red isn't even that rural a club for us haha
Just after watching this vid after a famous night in the Showgrounds, the game went to penalties and we won 4-3 . Come on the Bit O Red ♥️ , looking forward to the Motherwell game, bring it on , 😁😁
Unbelievable considering it was essentially full time professionals against Welsh part timers but 'a win is a win' as they say and it was good prep for the next round. All that said, I firmly believe Sligo Rovers definitely have the ability to defeat a very average Motherwell who are in pre-season and not battle-hardened like Sligo. Personally I won't be at all surprised to see Sligo march on to the next round.
As a young man I was fortunate to be in a position to ask a question to the legendary player and manager Joe Mercer.. “of all the players you have played with, managed or seen, who was the greatest? Answer: “without doubt Dixie”
I love the overconfidence of the Motherwell fans . Typical of people outside the league . Their whole club took us for granted only 2 weeks training and 2 short friendlies? Where are they now ? 3-0 to the bit O’red
Shout out to another Sligo Rovers legend Joseph N'Do played for Cameroon in the 1998 and 2002 world cups
