The property you’re buying has been on the market for 10 years. If you put a double wide home on that lot you’ll will not be able to sell it. Too cold in winter for most people and all that wind will get real old real quick.
Oh man the adventure! Just when I start thinking Rusty is settling in he unveils a whole new plan. This one is next level. I love it. Thanks for sharing with all of us Rusty.
Rusty, I hear ya brother. My one concern would be the isolation at your new property for a full time residence. At your age (or anyone approaching 80), you should be around others that are close by in case you need help. That would be my only concern with the new property and living there permanently. Good luck.
Totally agree. Boss, I'd hate to think about you being up there with no one around to talk to or check up on you. If it was me, I'd stay put in the community you're in now. But I know it's your call. And you always seem to make good ones. 🙂
My parents both fell and couldn't get up, their lives were saved by their neighbors, and they where able to live an additional five years after they were hospitalized. They would have both died at different times if it wasn't for the help of the neighbors calling 911. But you do you.
@LaBoofadora well in that length of time he could get hurt, plus with his videos the illegals could get him knowing he is there alone. May be a stretch of it happening, but the squatters are everywhere.
Looks like those of us who took the "under" might win. Rusty, you are living a heck of an interesting life for a man your age. You do you, and keep on moving forward!!!
Been a long time since I went thru Carrizozo but had been there many times on my way to Fort Stanton for WWII re-enactments. I recall a community East of Carrizozo on 380 which had all kinds of roads but no or few houses. Is that where you will be? Are there more houses now? I really liked Capitain as well.
I feel you should do what you want to do, as you say time is marching on. That being said, I always took you to be a tiny house kind of guy, but people's likes and dislikes change. Whenever I start feeling old, I'm 71, I pull up your videos to see what you've got going on, and it motivates me to keep going. 😊
wish you all the best success with whatever you choose! for me, option 2 seems like the best of both worlds since there is an existing building with water and electric.
So what you'll have is a trailer that no one wants to buy in the middle of nowhere. You have already said no one wants a one bedroom trailer. So buying something no one wants is a great plan!
Beautiful Country Rusty. You rock. This morning, a short term next door neighbor asked me. I hope my dogs barking doesn't bother you. I played nice. Said that it was OK. I just what dogs do. In reality. It drives me crazy.
I like option 3, simply because I think living out of town is preferable. But, it’s nice that you have 3 options to mull over, and you’ll do what you feel is best for you, as everyone should! Have a great day, Rusty!🤗
Rusty should not be your name bc nothing gets rusty with you. Your name should be new, bright and shiny!!! Love this channel. Keep on Keepin’ On, Rusty! 🤙🏽
Man, you got the Gypsy blood ! only time you're gonna settle down is when you're in the ground!!! I'd buy one of those houses in that neighborhood, tint the windows, get the A/C crankin and get about 3 dogs, go for day trips, bbq! thats my plan, been workin on it, lookin forward to seein the new area, i'll never get out there.
Rusty, I like your spirit of adventure. Just throwing it out there, You could always visit Alaska for a change! :-) Sounds like you are heading into some serious long term commitments, that only a few would consider, or would enjoy. Be smart, be careful. I know you will.
Rusty - A 2 or 3 bedroom unit might make it easier to close off space that you don’t need to reduce the area that needs to be heated and cooled, as well as being better for resale.
Rusty must feel very loved, for how many people want him to be closer to a hospital. They want you to live forever, Rusty, doesn't that warm your heart? Or maybe some of them want you to live how they want to live. That line can get blurred, especially when unsolicited advice is given. Personally, I don't let medical facilities affect where I travel, but I do weigh it into where I actually live and spend most of my time. I'm over a decade younger than Rusty and in very good health, but my list of doctors is growing, rather than shrinking. No two people have the same medical situation, family situation, motivation to live long at all costs versus live well at all costs, etc. It's a real "you do you" topic. Someone wanting to put their grandkids through college, or taking care of a sick spouse, has a different attitude about longevity and access to medical care, than a loner with no strings and no medical problems.
I get the feeling though nice, the tiny home community may be a little too shoulder to shoulder for your liking. The new prospect has more of a llano TX. feel where you had the covered pad,Casita and of course Thorny. A 1 bedroom double wide will allow you to go for walks and never step outside.
Oh shucks I forgot to say I so so enjoyed the walk and conversation. And I have no negative thing to say about you doing you!!! I love your new plan and may it go according to you and what you want. I do hope you new home your have looked at is perfect for you!!! Hugs and keep enjoying your day my friend!!!!! Angela
Sounds like a good plan selling tiny home and moving out to your property. Are your pronghorns still running around the area surrounding your property? Enjoy your life Rusty🤠
Do you want 850 sq ft ? I mostly live in 400 sq ft. by myself. 400 sq ft is plenty of space for one person. Have l lived in less space, sure. I am glad l still live in Texas. My daughter lives in NM and deals with more crime and deals with a governor who is not a rocket scientist (she tried to overturn the 2nd Amendment.
So what are the advantages and plusses of going with option 3 over option 1? Seems like a large outlay of money with buying the structure, moving it, paying all of the taxes etc. I am assuming that the house you are in now is newer and maybe more up to date and sturdy. No matter what you chose I enjoy your videos and attitude. Some of us yearn to be free but life has tied us down and the chains seem to get heavier as time goes on.
I’m so boring. Since I retired I have become a hermit! Well, covid era did some of that. I enjoy the heck out of watching your changes! Take care and keep on being you!!!
I've moved with you several times, Rusty and am wondering if you have thought about your FINAL move. Maybe you could show us that sometime. I plan to be cremated and rest without a care next to my momma in a local state park.
The home I grew up in was 1000 sq ft and had three bedrooms. Wonder what the floor plan is for a one bedroom that is 850 sq ft…that’s a palacios space for a one bedroom!
Rusty people can say what they want but I’ve been following you since the beginning and I think you’re one smart guy! You always make a place better than you found it and then you sell it at a profit! I know you will keep doing you and accumulating a nice nest egg for the time being and then in about 20 years when you buy your last property and settle down you will be set ❤

@@ralphp3057not a bit worried about. But I like to have all the numbers and possibilities calculated. I’ve worked in healthcare and minutes can change lives. For example if you have a stroke it can be completely stopped if you get to a hospital that has a stroke center within an hour.
@@ralphp3057 Being an hour or two away from a hospital is life threatening. The commenter says they are OK with that, and you think they worry too much or are 100?
