I got fascinated to VTOL aircraft recently and after considering many types of frame, decided to go for the Mini Talon. It's cheap and has huge internal for large capacity batteries.
This video shown is using DJI NAZA M V2 as FC as it's the most stable FC without tuning.
The next test will be using Pixhawk with Quad function enabled.
AUW at 2.3kg now, without 4 servos and vtx.
Flight efficient is surprisingly good at 15min mark, at 3.67V per cell!

Great work! Do you mind sharing your dimension for the four motor placement for the vtol kit? I am trying to build a very similar vtol plane with the same x-uav talon and wondering how to space the motors to make sure the center of mass is a the right place. Thanks a lot!
Bro , fly di mana ni bro?. Cantik tempat.
Hi there! Great job on the VTOL! May i ask a few questions?
1. How was your booms carrying the motors, connected to the wings?
2. What's the size of the propellers?
3. How much & how heavy were your batteries?
Look forward to your answers! Thank you!
Hi bro.
1. I embedded two wood plate beneath each wing
2. Apc 11x4.7
3. Rmbr it was 2.5kg. 2x 4s 3000mah
Hi bro.
1. I embedded two wood plate beneath each wing
2. Apc 11x4.7
3. Rmbr it was 2.5kg. 2x 4s 3000mah
2.5kg refers to the AUW
Hi bro. Motor front to back(center to center) distance is 61cm. Distance from front motor center to main spar is 25cm. Yes I didnt follow center of mass because that would cause the rear prop to blow very closely to main wing. so the rear motor length was lengthen, in terms of flight didnt seems to have problem
That helps a lot! Thx man, great build of this vtol ^_^
Also have you noticed any aileron reversal that twist the main spar such that the plane starts to rotate out of control? I am considering adding supports on the main spar to help with the twisting.
Hmm no issue with pitch or aileron in quad mode. However, when yawing quickly in quad mode, it twist the wing, as in right front motor goes up, right rear motor goes down. Have to yaw smoothly. and have not testing plane mode yet. also, please mount your boom on the main and rear spar, those should be the toughest spot on the wing
Oh right, cuz I am trying to build one that's a hybrid between quad and fixed wing, so I guess I am concerned with the twisting especially when it's in fixed wing flight mode. Thanks for the response!
Alex Sun - ok cool. do share with when you uploaded the video :-)
Please guide, Can we fly QuadPlane with APM 2.8 board with old Mission Planner firmware 3.2.1
Documents says that APM 2.8 no longer support with latest firmware.
Please guide
Nope. Can't. It must be Pixhawk, with FW from V3.4 onwards

Heartily Thanks for Information . . .
Hi!
If possible, tell me!
Your parameters:
full weight, what kind of battery, hovering current, current when changing from a quadrocopter to a wing flight.
???
Thanks in advance!
Aleks
i rmbr it was around 2.5kg. 2x 4s 3000mah. cant rmbr the current as this is quite sometime and i crashed it. no rebuilt :-(
@@EdwardChew good luck in the future )
HELLO WHAT KIND OF ENGINES YOU USE FORWARD AND BACK, AND HOW MUCH DOES YOUR SHIP
Any Brushless motor is capable of using reverse thrust. You just need the a flight controller to tell it to do so and possibly a more advanced ESC.
great to see a new vtol made from an existing aircraft. the V-tail seems to lend itself to the transition, and the quad prop wash not affecting the tail.
i'd be interested to see how the pixhawk vtol quad plane software works out. thinking of trying it myself. I recently made my own quad plane from junk and an old phantom to see how hard it was. here is the result:

this is going to be a big thing.
hi bro. this was tested in quad mode only, using dji naza. will be testing plane mode with pixhawk next.
Do you have a build thread ?
LeonardoValente - hmm no bro. but thats a good idea
