- Here are the numbers 0.05 gram test is 100mm to 110mm = 10%
0.1 gram test is 210mm to 240mm = 14.3%
20 cent coin test 550mm to 640mm = 16.3%

Hi Woody.. Having been able to get out this weekend and do some initial trials on some of my old patches, I can honestly say that so far your experimental modifications to my 7000 have been terrific!.. The shielding has allowed my GPZ to pick up legitimate Rx signals in patches that I considered ‘worked to death’… I have gone to some old patches that are very familiar to me and used exactly the same coil/setting setups.. These areas have been raked and gridded within an inch of their lives… I know exactly how much gold was found in relation to junk/lead targets… I have simply been left dumbstruck with targets coming through that just simply should not have been there… That increase of around 15% in depth/sensitivity in your video, has certainly transformed into another 15-20% increase in targets pulled from those old patches.. Of that increase….50/60% were lead birdshot at ridiculous depths and the rest were gold targets not heard before… However the junk/gold ratio is not the issue here… Simply that the modifications are producing the goods and pulling more legitimate targets for the operator.. I haven’t as yet reworked enough of my old patches to provide more comprehensive feedback, but I’m extremely happy with the results so far!.. I think you’re on a winner Woody… ☺️👍

Outstanding! What a great passive way to improve performance. No critical adjustments to fiddle with or mess-up.
The 16.3% improvement on the large 20 cent coin is indeed impressive. It may also have a sharper, narrower response for larger deeper targets. This modification should really open up old ground to finding deeper large nuggets.

There is still plenty to do for improvement, i have picked up on other sections that can be made to add performance.
I love how much more responsive and “clean” the modified machine is. Would fatigue far less than a normal Z. Watching with great interest! Love my machine as it is (it’s a quiet freak for a 7000) but will grab a second Z to mod with you once you have the mods down pat👍👍👍
I feel that the detector is working much better than standard, seems much better as the targets get larger.

Just checking in again with an update on my progress with the modified GPX7000…
I’ve continued to take another look at some of my old patches over the last two weeks..
There is no question in my mind that your efforts to reduce the internally generated interference has resulted in a much improved target response… I recently revisited one such patch in the Whipstick Forrest (Bendigo), which has been raked and gridded to the point where I could no longer find a genuine target, let alone any further gold… I had not visited the area for over six months and I know of at least two other prospectors who have since gone over the patch with their GPX6000’s… This was going to be a significant test of the upgrades, where just picking up one or two genuine targets would have been a good achievement… I left with five pieces of gold and three bits of lead shot! I was left absolutely astounded… The small gold (sub-gramers) were able to be heard using the same settings/coil setup and were mostly around six inches (150mm) deep. One might argue that all of the targets should have been ‘gettable’…..however I know how thoroughly the area was detected.. I always wear headphones…and even two 6000’s also missed them!.. The only variable has been your modifications to my detector.. This is becoming a constant theme with every old area I return to… Until next time…. Steven. 😊
That is great to hear, the other gpz7000 owner has reported back a similar improvement but that is a phone sms message.
Good modification mate works well so where do you position your pick now you would have to wear it around your neck?

Many people using the gpx6000 but the older detectors can be upgraded.
Hi ,,, i have fixed the problem of gpx 4500 battery I've replaced the JAK8
And now it seems that the battery is charging
But when i test it with the multimeter it gives just
0.52 volts
What could be the problem please ?
Did the battery go fully flat? Lithium can not come up if they get too low in voltage.
@@DetectorMods when i test the cells inside it gives 3,60 volts each one ... But when i test it befor the shotky diode it gives 9.2 or more
And after the shotky diode it give 0.52

What was modified on the GPZ 7000?
Anything that made noise was either fixed or replaced.

No, I definitely do not buy, I only improve the performance and repair. After I fix it then it as good as any other detector.

It is a copy but require some work to make it perfect.

Not scientific enough. Waving target 8n air is way too many variables. Find a bank, make holes at various depths. You can always sweep higher with the modded detector to show the difference. That is easier to see .
We have this planned for another buried target side by side test.
