Just to clarify since a lot of KO2 users are happy with their units and don't recognize what I'm talking about here... I don't think it's a bad sampler or musical device ... If it works. These are just my opinions on the lack of quality control, the low quality components and the disappointment of receiving a unit with a well known flaw. My story, I bought the EP-133 on day one 22nd Nov, then while waiting for it to arrive I read about the issues with fader, cpu, buttons sticking, etc. As it was a week before it arrived I contacted them to return it. As they seem to be only manned by one person in customer services they take minimum 24 hours to reply to an email. They said they could not return it yet as its on its way so I had to contact UPS to cancel the delivery on Dec 1st. I asked for a refund and they stated it had to return to them first so I said ok and waited. And waited, then the UPS guy turns up on my doorstep and just hands me a box without signing and disappears. I contact TE by email and instagram but their attitude seems to be just ignore everything, and so three days later I have decided to keep it as they might be on the ropes and I will lose my money.
my unit worked fine out of the box but the unfinished manual and confusing workflow made me send it back. i know some people are getting the hang of it but i find the device way too confusing to use compared to my PO-33, and this was a total miss on TE's part. gonna focus on Koala Sampler instead to stop the gear acquisition syndrome dead in its tracks
It doesn't really matter if it is $100 or $300 it should work when it arrives at the least. I have similar issue except my fader is stuck on 62 and part of the mechanism is folded in on itself. Given it has to travel to the other side of the planet and back not hopeful I am getting a replacement until after the new year assuming TE support gets back to me in timely manner :(
Mine is working ok at the moment. The box had all the black marks were the pots are and the interior box had a crack but the fader worked, so I stuck a piece of lego on the fader and apart from some sample bugginess it seems to be ok.
Received mine today, and it works perfectly, seems like they are shipping the fader with a plastic sleeve protector now. I don’t even bother to change to the real knob, the sleeve Kinda looks pretty cool.
We really need to abandon the notion of spending $300 is “cheap”. If other companies can get their products made well and properly for lower price tags, there is absolutely no excuse for TE, especially as an ESTABLISHED brand and company this many years in.

The faders I've seen on videos where people have taken them apart just look really cheap. Really wanted this to be better.
There is a chance its shipping issue as well, I noticed that on mine the fader spindle sticks out above the packaging so anything that goes on top of the box puts pressure on it. And they are shipping 8 in a box all stacked on top of each other I'm sure the ones on the bottom would be getting quite a bit of stress.. But as there are othe faults useres have repoted their QC department really needs to address this asap.
Yeah. There's a solid chance that it's a shipping problem. Since I knew about the fader issue before receiving it, I inspected the packaging and tried the fader before putting the knob on it, and there was no sign of any stress on the box around the fader, and it still didn't work. I received a working one. So far. I ordered it thru b&h . I got it from them cause 2 day shipping. I like it but my keys constantly sticking. You have to press the keys exactly straight down from top or they get stuck. On my unit they do. I’m huge fan of TE POs and op-1. The rest of their devices not so much. The ko2 feels cheep. I do love the screen and how the effects look. That’s probly the reason I impulsively ordered it. And the price. If they make a tonic ep133 I don’t think I would order it. You are better off buying the po ko speak and tonic for the same price as this. Much better investment. If you are new to this and have 0 products.
My biggest problem with the PO's was how tempermental they are. I'd say about half of mine require a lot of fiddling to get the contacts to work with the batteries. Because of it, I dont use them anymore. I preordered the 133 and itll be at my door in a fews days but im kind of worried. I was hoping the $300 price tag would offer something closer to the middle of their high end stuff and their low end as far as the build goes. Guess I hoped for too much. This will likely be the last device I buy from them.
@@FouseQuentin My experience has been good. I didn't have any of the issues others have reported and the unit works as I'd expect. I tried changing to various firmware until it stopped working altogether, getting no help I purchased a new battery and opened it and popped it in and still same issues. I was going to buy new gear from them but the whole experience from their team put me off, I would rather buy an MPC 1000 then this.
I was part of the first batch order, I waited since the 24th for shipping confirmation, heard about all the issues, and decided to cancel. Thank you for confirming my doubts. I really wanted this to work out, but i'll probably get and SP404 mk 2.
Yeah, I got the 404 instead. I got mine on a black friday deal for only $150 more than the KO II, which seems like a bargain, given how much more it can do.
I saw every UA-cam video leading up to my order and knew what to expect. I received mine yesterday and the fader is DOA right out of the box, so I'm sending it back. The seller told me TE will be re-releasing the EP-133 in the new year with an improved fader assembly.
You got lucky man now I’m staring at a useless machine that can’t function like it’s supposed and I’m out of 300$ until they refund me when I could have did what the guy that got an sp404 did or 3 pocket operators lol
That’s TE for you. And having 5000+€ worth of TE gear at home, I can vouch for the bad build quality, the cheap components, the botched software and the arrogance of the brand. Great ideas, with really poor execution. But the thing thats amazes me the most is how fanboys want to rationalize their purchases, ignoring the fact that a) 350€ is not cheap by no standard, b) the whole release is a mess, c) the whole TE brand is broken to its core and d) the EP-133 is a botched down, pale copy version of every old school MPC. This glorified Lego box with so many limitations (I mean…350€ and no SD card reader tells you something) is not worth its price. The software bugs alone and the absence of resampling is inexcusable from a boutique brand that taunts itself as the next best thing.
i don't think the discussion is its cheap or not, the question is: is in the market a real groovebox to produce music for a semi or professional use? for me it's not, i more a toy like his smaller brothers. so yes, you cannot buy it for 300$ and think you have a mpc2000xl or a tr 808
Yeah I agree. It's in the PO realm, so I kinda expected something like the PO. But even tho it's not an MPC, it should still be functioning when sent out to the customers
That's great. I've read that they've changed the way they ship them and that they secure the faders better now. So hopefully that will fix the problem. I should be getting my replacement unit today, so I'm excited to see how it goes.
EP-133 is trash not because of the crappy fader but because of people who would completely miss its laughable features and instead focus on the fader in their reviews. That's what allows TE to release a trash product like EP-133 and get criticism for a knob instead of more serious issues.
they fooled me with the opz build too i'd take a well built opz but the original po's are good but man can they build things affordable for pete's sake even the 2k stuff has lots of problems on forums
I already have a Roland SP 404 MK2 and Elektron Octatrack as my samplers so this new one is a hard pass until TE fixes the issues and poor quality with it! Not worth it.
What happens when people with broken units send them back for warranty or fixing it? Do TE respond, send back a new one or fix it? What's the deal when contacting them? I don't have one but am still contemplating of buying one, because a cheap and simple sampler would be a nice addition to my gigging rig.
They should give you either a refund or send a new one. But I know it's sold out basically everywhere, so maybe they'll offer to repair them. When I reached out to them, they asked for a video showing the problem. But after sending them the video almost 4 days ago, I haven't heard back yet.
My unit was plagued with problems, when I reached out (this was earlier before most people started reaching out to them as well) they said it was shipping damage, and was going to replace it pretty swiftly. Unsure what the situation now that I'm sure thousands of folks have been returning these units due to all the problems. Really wish TE would put out a proper statement, and revise these units.@@flundlip
Lol I don't what machine you guys received but mine came in mint. Works flawlessly and is super easy to start making music. It's also premium feeling and great battery life. I'm loving it!
_"the pins in fader are bent . . meaning that they haven't been damaged during assembly or transportation or when putting that little fader knob on . . the affected faders have actually never worked"_ Nah, that's ridiculous conclusion, the bending of the pins is clearly a result of putting too much pressure on the slider mechanism, I've done it myself on other projects, of course the sliders worked when made, but they were then squeezed in shipping (look at how thin the packaging is) and/or when the (far too tight) knob was put on.
Maybe... But since I was aware of this issue when I received mine, I inspected the package immediately, and there are no signs of damage or any form of indentations on the box around the area of the fader. And I also didn't put the fader cap on the fader. Did it really only take you 3 minutes to open it up? I don't have any experience soldering, so I'm a bit apprehensive to mess around inside a brand new device that should've worked in the first place.
@@flundlip _"I also didn't put the fader cap on the fader"_ Well I would guess at some other stage the slider mechanism has been pushed down, on cheaper sliders this will always bend the wipers (what you call the "pins"), perhaps for some people it's an accumulation of some earlier pressure, a little squeezing in the packaging, a little more pressure when they put the knob on . . . who knows, but that's the reason the wipers are bent up. _"Did it really only take you 3 minutes to open it up?"_ I don't have got one yet ! But watching the various repair videos, and having opened up and repaired numerous, perhaps hundreds, of devices it really is a simple job, even if mine works the slider is getting taken out and binned, and will be replaced with a higher quality all metal slider . . . the majority of the work is unscrewing the case, the actual job itself is simply desoldering 3 pins, bend the wipers back, and re-solder the 3 pins back into the PCB . . . but like I say once I've bothered to open the case I'd be tempted to just replace the whole slider with a quality unit (even a high quality all metal slider will cost just a few €£$). _"I don't have any experience soldering, so I'm a bit apprehensive to mess around inside a brand new device that should've worked in the first place."_ Agree 100%, should work out of the box, this is terrible quality control . . . I suspect even those people whose units are working fine out of the box will see a lot of failures over the coming months.
@@djray2705 Especially if you destroyed the KOII afterwards, buried it in a field miles from where you live, then burnt your house down and moved to another country, taking a local name and living as they do, learning their ways, blending in, keeping yourself to yourself, and if any of the locals suspect anything you feign mutism, then steal a horse and ride off into a forest, discarding all your clothes so there is nothing to track you with, then you'd live amongst the creatures of the forests, living as they do, learning their ways, in time they will accept you as one of their one, and eventually you will become their king, king of the forest creatures.
@@MyNameJeff.. _"Why do should we have to fix a brand new $300+ product??"_ You shouldn't have to, no one has suggested you _have to_ . . . but for those not willing to package it up and sort out the postage, make a claim, wait for however long (weeks, maybe even a couple of months) for the thing to be repaired or replaced and returned to you, then the repair is a very easy fix. _"You people are delusional. If this was any other company, the roasting would be non stop."_ Sure, I'm delusional because I'd be happy to fix something that'd take me a few minutes rather than wait around for weeks because fixing something that you really shouldn't have to breaches the moral code of a random UA-cam commenter I've never met 😂
@@JBBTS 299 is absolutely a great price for a functioning device, and I'm sure the majority of buyers have received functioning devices. But for us that haven't, it's pretty disappointing.
So basically what you are saying is they should have done a better job with quality control? You shouldn't be mad at the users you should be mad at yourself for creating a clickbait title. If you aren't saying that the device itself is trash then you prolly shouldn't use the word trash in the title. Unless of course you're only interested in clicks and not accuracy
It's a product with trash quality control, trash communication from TE when users receive faulty units, and when they arrive broken they're trash. I stand by that.... However... If your device works and you're happy with it, it clearly doesn't apply to you. But their build and customer service are clearly not what they should be. I have used TE products for a long time, and even though some of their products are silly, I've never experienced such a failure in quality. I'm not blaming the users at all. In fact I wish I had a functioning device myself, and I like the design and the workflow, but not that they send out broken devices that are functionally trash 🤷
Are you kidding? This thing IS trash. It needs the fader for near everything, the fader arrived broken, its trash. That simple. This is like saying "they released a videogame without controller/kbm support, so you cant play it. But the game isnt trash". It literally is, because you cant play it.
Mine is working perfectly, and I love the workflow. Why do youtubers insist with this clickbait titles will always be a mistery to me! You are making people steer away from this... I hope you are fully aware of that!
I am fully aware of that, and I'm glad your unit is working, but it's not okay for a company to skip the quality control like this. There are way too many people who have experienced the same, or other, problems. A fun workflow doesn't excuse a horrible build quality IMO

I’m part of the large group that received a broken unit too :( Sent it back, now waiting
That sucks 😔 I hope they process it quickly
Did you have to pay for shipping back to TE?
I’m so happy I gave up buying new gear for my resolution last year. It’s so freeing not buying everything new on the synth market.
i don't think the discussion is its cheap or not, the question is: is in the market a real groovebox to produce music for a semi or professional use? for me it's not, i more a toy like his smaller brothers. so yes, you cannot buy it for 300$ and think you have a mpc2000xl or a tr 808
Yeah I agree. It's in the PO realm, so I kinda expected something like the PO. But even tho it's not an MPC, it should still be functioning when sent out to the customers
You look familiar, are you a Victoria Secret model?
Secret's out
My HERO! Also Fadergated bro...
I ordered 2 from Guitar Center.. both arrived same day, one worked perfectly fine, the other had fadergate issue
I just got mine in the mail. I’ve been playing with it for a few hours. My fader works just fine. I’ve had no issues with mine either.
Thank you for your opinion. Feel free to expound on the more serious issues though. I didn't get to go deep on it as it was broken on arrival
I’m watching this with my iphone line in to the ep133 with headphones on lol
Yep same here! Awesome live effects feature. I love my KO2.
This thing feels like it’s gonna break in my hand. The knobs are so cheap and flimsy. The whole body bends.
they fooled me with the opz build too i'd take a well built opz but the original po's are good but man can they build things affordable for pete's sake even the 2k stuff has lots of problems on forums
I already have a Roland SP 404 MK2 and Elektron Octatrack as my samplers so this new one is a hard pass until TE fixes the issues and poor quality with it! Not worth it.
You should ABSOLUTELY expect quality for $300. Anything less than a functioning product ia a giant middle finger to customers
Love mine.
Koala sampler exists.
@@flundlip k, thanks, hope you sort out the issues with your unit.
@@mooseymoose Plenty of things exist.
I literally thought the table was satire. smh
Te’s user base is pathetic. Imagine getting a $300+ defective/broken unit and wanting to “fix it” instead of sending it back.
Thing is dope !
It happened to me 😢
Lol I don't what machine you guys received but mine came in mint. Works flawlessly and is super easy to start making music. It's also premium feeling and great battery life. I'm loving it!
I love my ep-133....it is not built cheaply.
Cool mutation, dude
Sold it for 50€ more, dont opend the box😂
Fader, speaker, and screen-a trash company that sometimes makes solid products. This machine is not one of the solid products.
@@flundlip _"I also didn't put the fader cap on the fader"_
Well I would guess at some other stage the slider mechanism has been pushed down, on cheaper sliders this will always bend the wipers (what you call the "pins"), perhaps for some people it's an accumulation of some earlier pressure, a little squeezing in the packaging, a little more pressure when they put the knob on . . . who knows, but that's the reason the wipers are bent up.
_"Did it really only take you 3 minutes to open it up?"_
I don't have got one yet !
_"I don't have any experience soldering, so I'm a bit apprehensive to mess around inside a brand new device that should've worked in the first place."_
Agree 100%, should work out of the box, this is terrible quality control . . . I suspect even those people whose units are working fine out of the box will see a lot of failures over the coming months.
I’ve never been impressed by TE. Looks like a toy and plays like a toy - it’s a toy
Mine works from the start and is fun to use.
That's great! I'll have a new one sent to me and hopefully I'll get to have some fun with the new one
Open it up, the fader is a 3 minute fix . . . . TE should honour the warranty for anyone who has had to open to fix the fader.
Based on the current lack of response, I’m not convinced they wouldn’t pull some BS that you voided the warranty
They would never know if you opened it or not
@@djray2705 Especially if you destroyed the KOII afterwards, buried it in a field miles from where you live, then burnt your house down and moved to another country, taking a local name and living as they do, learning their ways, blending in, keeping yourself to yourself, and if any of the locals suspect anything you feign mutism, then steal a horse and ride off into a forest, discarding all your clothes so there is nothing to track you with, then you'd live amongst the creatures of the forests, living as they do, learning their ways, in time they will accept you as one of their one, and eventually you will become their king, king of the forest creatures.
Why do should we have to fix a brand new $300+ product?? You people are delusional. If this was any other company, the roasting would be non stop.
@@MyNameJeff.. _"Why do should we have to fix a brand new $300+ product??"_
You shouldn't have to, no one has suggested you _have to_ . . . but for those not willing to package it up and sort out the postage, make a claim, wait for however long (weeks, maybe even a couple of months) for the thing to be repaired or replaced and returned to you, then the repair is a very easy fix.
_"You people are delusional. If this was any other company, the roasting would be non stop."_
Sure, I'm delusional because I'd be happy to fix something that'd take me a few minutes rather than wait around for weeks because fixing something that you really shouldn't have to breaches the moral code of a random UA-cam commenter I've never met 😂
I hate air quotes 😂
They need to grt them made somewhere else
My working perfect don't see any issues
And for 299 don't know what else expecting
I expected it to work, and 299 is too much for a broken device
I'm just saying my working perfect so no complaints 299 don't see anything wrong
@@JBBTS 299 is absolutely a great price for a functioning device, and I'm sure the majority of buyers have received functioning devices. But for us that haven't, it's pretty disappointing.
Oh so for $300 you’d be straight with a defective unit? Lol clown
Best reweiv
my opz bend, the plastic is shit ! they change my twice. Finaly i sell it. awful experience !!!
opz sounds like garbo anyhow
Jävlar vad stora ögon du har :)
Tack? Vilken konstig sak att säga
@@flundlip I had a defective OP-Z in the past, anyway I do not think that OP-Z is Trash! Anyway I see your point of view.
@@paolofanin It's okay when there is a faulty unit here and there, that happens to every company, but when thousands of customers have experienced the same thing within a week or so, there is something wrong. But like I said in the video, I was excited to receive it and wanted it to work, and I wanted to make a positive video about it, but it's very disappointing receiving one of many faulty units
@@flundlip and I understand the rant, especially after looking at the whole video, which was more explicative than the title ;)
You don't know how many they've sold@@flundlip - it's normal for a low % of units not to work - i'd imagine they've sold loads so you're just in the unlucky 10% i;d imagine. Mine works perfectly and its 100% not trash
First batch zero issues
Good!
If you buy TE Products you are doomed byself. That's the Mac of the Spound Manufacture. Only for rich Geeks with no knowledge in making good music.
LOL! I have this and the fader and speaker are fine. All this hate over this amazing box..please realize the value you have in your hand rather than jump on the bandwagon of hating on it bro
It's broken. So no, I don't see the value of it. But I probably would if it wasn't. I'm glad you got a good one tho. Enjoy it
@@defcreator187 no but not all units are broken. Mine and a bunch of others is fine. It’s all the hate that spreads over UA-cam from videos where the few who get broken units when the majority are fine.

In Australia 🇦🇺 this is $560.00 so no it’s not cheap at all. All the other devices are $2,000.00.
