I know the video was about supply hose but that is not what I am attempting to ask about.
Quick question Mike, where did you get that solid mount block for your flow Pro i see before your 3/8 shut off valve. I can't seem to find them online.
When your not busy, you could do a timed relay to see the amount of time that you are saving. Also, only using your pressure hose in sections saves wear and tear on the hoses via expansions and contractions.
I can see where that would allow you use less expensive reels, if you’re not running chemicals and pressure through the hose reel, do you need to spend more for stainless steel fittings?
Well i agree with you on the backlash effect when letting off and squeezing the trigger over and over. I also agree with other folks that said if its not plumbed thru the reel, then dont have to worry with reel going had or leaking. But your anology of cutting a 3/4" flow down restricting it to an 1/2" flow. Yeah throw that out the window. Because 99% of the time your starting with a 1/2" flow inside the wall of the house hooked to backside of that faucet you hooked to. Also you keep referring to the "pressure" or losing pressure by running it thru the reels. You are completely backwards there. So warer pressure isjt what fills your tank faster. Now more volume will fill your tank faster. Which is essentially what your doing witt your set up. So its 1/2" in house wall then your stepping it up to 3/4" with your supply hose. So its allowing more volume to flow to your rig. Now pressure, which you should only be worried about on the washing side lol. By taking that 3/4" and squeezing it thru/forcing it thru (adding restriction) the 1/2" fitting of reel. Now that will up your prrssure from that point on.

I started out running everything through the reels, but after a couple of months switched to the this approach. I have GP steel reels and they are holding up fine after several years. I know I would have been replacing them all by now.
Fresh, I'm sure you're aware of this but I want to update the viewer on the Reel Big Deal hose reels offered by Southeast Softwash: they have 3/4" manifolds and cost around the same price as a manual Titan reel. The Reel Deal which is their 12" version only has a 1/2" manifold however.
One less moving part actually 2 because i had 2 inlet for fill to worry about for me and I'm always aware of the amount of water I have . Along with having a helper to keep an eye on the water .
Hey Mike, I really hadn't thought about the hose reel fitting being restricted like you, and other commenters, are saying, I get it now, I had thought that all of the hoses were connected to the hose reel, I see your point now about not being restricted to X amount of feet of hose and also restricted by the hose reel fitting Flow, I just learned that proverbial "one thing a day"
@@TheFreshRinse just so you know, I average at least a quarter of the comments before I comment, I like to make sure I have an idea of what I'm talking about and to not say the same as other commenters
Couldnt you put a 3/4" swivel on the supply hose reel and run a 3/4 tube to your buffer tank? The restriction would be minimal. This way you'd only have to reel out as much supply hose as you need.
@@TheFreshRinse Now Mike have you really looked at the inside of the house feed to a hose bib? Most are 1/2 " pipe that feed outside then looked where you connect to hose to that is usually less than a 1/2" opening.
absolutely not but if the pipe supplying the hose is only 1/2" then that will be the volume. The 3/4 and 1/2 hose will determine the pressure. Q = V x A @@TheFreshRinse
Idk i use 1" x 200ft cox reels, they're built better than any other reel and I've used and threw away pretty much every brand out there, i wont use any other now, ever again and being 1" allows me to run any GPM i want aswell as hose sizes.. take care mike, you're probably driving your wife crazy already being home everyday, wish her well for me 😂.. ✌️
So. 😂 on your 3/4 water feed line measure the inside of the fittings. I bet they are 9/16 or 5/8". And they do make hose reels with 3/4 and 1" manifolds wich has less restrictions than your water hose ends😂😢
Mike, did you know that you are not supposed to run a live line connected to potable water supply into a water tank?It is supposed to connect via an anti-siphon air gap device. Yup. Now you do.😮😊
Part of waiting on water is the fact for some of us is we run 2-8gpm machines or 1-10gpm and 1-8gpm machine. Also in my area with the mass population growth so many houses being built the water coming out of a customers water faucet is less than 4gpm at 36psi.
Inside fitting size of the 3/4" hose I believe is the same as the 5/8". We use 5/8" supply hoses. Most homes have 1/2" water supply lines coming to the faucet. One of my last washes the water faucet was 12' from the truck and kept running out of water after I used the 100 gallons that I brought with me; I found the water was a trickle coming out of the faucet, took 3 hrs. to wash rather than 1hr. So, check the flow before hook-up or if it sounds weak in flow to tank. I have only chased water on some residential homes not commercial sites, but you do need a buffer amount to start. All depends on what equipment is being operated. Some problems occur in the hose being flattened or crimpled at the fitting on the reels. Even the 8 gpm plus machines require 1/2" pressure hose over distance, of which most don't do. When there is a problem one has to find a fix or improvement. 🚰
Well, at 1st I was sceptical that it would make that much of a difference, time wise, filling my tank, 600 litre . I disconnected it at a joiner & fed it into the tank from the top. Ihave never timed how long it takes to fill, running thru the reel, but i'm guessing around the 40 minute mark. I at least shaved off 20 minutes this morning! I'm off to have a feed of humble pie..........
Topped off the tank this morning from about 2inchs above the 1/2 way line. 8 mins 47seconds!, Sooo, it looks like from empty, I'll be looking at somewhere around the 20 minute mark. Unbelievable! Just go's to show that after 23 years this month, in the game, You can always pick up a handy little hint.

Sorry for the confusion. The link is for pressure hose. The 3/4” that I’m referring to is for your fill hose (garden hose)
I approve of this
The approval I was waiting for! LOL
I knew that sooo
@@TheFreshRinse
I started out running everything through the reels, but after a couple of months switched to the this approach. I have GP steel reels and they are holding up fine after several years. I know I would have been replacing them all by now.
I think you are probably 100% correct
Fresh, I'm sure you're aware of this but I want to update the viewer on the Reel Big Deal hose reels offered by Southeast Softwash: they have 3/4" manifolds and cost around the same price as a manual Titan reel. The Reel Deal which is their 12" version only has a 1/2" manifold however.
Great information! Thank you
I did away with hudson float valve this year also .
Lots of hassle
Why, please elaborate?
@@vcash1112 Mine would get clogged quite often. Then, one day, it just stopped working. So, out of frustration, I eliminated the Hudson Float Valve
One less moving part actually 2 because i had 2 inlet for fill to worry about for me and I'm always aware of the amount of water I have . Along with having a helper to keep an eye on the water .
@@steveupton7996 Yup!
I like it!
Thank you sir!
Hey Mike,
I really hadn't thought about the hose reel fitting being restricted like you, and other commenters, are saying, I get it now, I had thought that all of the hoses were connected to the hose reel, I see your point now about not being restricted to X amount of feet of hose and also restricted by the hose reel fitting Flow, I just learned that proverbial "one thing a day"
Nice James. Thank you my friend
@@TheFreshRinse just so you know, I average at least a quarter of the comments before I comment, I like to make sure I have an idea of what I'm talking about and to not say the same as other commenters
@@jamesalinio5277 Your comments are valuable
The only time I have to wait on water is when I have to winterize over night.
Nice!!!
Great video!!
Thank you brother
Couldnt you put a 3/4" swivel on the supply hose reel and run a 3/4 tube to your buffer tank? The restriction would be minimal. This way you'd only have to reel out as much supply hose as you need.
Great question. Anytime there is a restriction, you can’t regain the flow afterwards.
@@TheFreshRinse Now Mike have you really looked at the inside of the house feed to a hose bib? Most are 1/2 " pipe that feed outside then looked where you connect to hose to that is usually less than a 1/2" opening.
@@rogerthetinker5116 that would mean a 5/8” and 1/2” hose would be even less. Regardless, 3/4” would still be larger.
I did the same thing because I used to use acid it always ate my reels
@@brian2100 Yes, I prefer to use my reels for storage
Great video my brother…
Thank you good man!
🤘😎
I like the idea. That said working on weak (2-6 gpm) wells outside the cities cause most water filling issues for me
I totally get that.
The 1/2" outlet at the house will be the same choke point as if you ran the hose through your reel.
Huh?
Are you suggesting a 1/2” hose will get the same flow rate as a 3/4” hose?
absolutely not but if the pipe supplying the hose is only 1/2" then that will be the volume. The 3/4 and 1/2 hose will determine the pressure. Q = V x A @@TheFreshRinse
Joe wants you to make a video on the theory with a timer ;)
Have we seen a Joe video lately?
1/2" copper pipe supply from house
Yup!
I think those Hudson float valves are terribly restrictive, too. Absolutely hate them
Yeah. I’m not running anything currently
Or just buy a hose reel with a 1 inch manifold for water supply. There is always a work around.
Boom!
Just get a 3/4 reel. I have 3 of them
Great idea
Idk i use 1" x 200ft cox reels, they're built better than any other reel and I've used and threw away pretty much every brand out there, i wont use any other now, ever again and being 1" allows me to run any GPM i want aswell as hose sizes.. take care mike, you're probably driving your wife crazy already being home everyday, wish her well for me 😂.. ✌️
1” is awesome! Good for you my brother!
You do realize that your customers water supply is more likely 1/2" copper right
@@19oakridges85 So, 1/2” hose for 200 more feet makes no difference? To answer your question, yes, I do realize that.
So. 😂 on your 3/4 water feed line measure the inside of the fittings. I bet they are 9/16 or 5/8". And they do make hose reels with 3/4 and 1" manifolds wich has less restrictions than your water hose ends😂😢
You are prolly correct. All I know is, I’m almost never waiting on water. I’m curious enough to check.
As a retired diesel mechanic starting this new endeavor I'm finding out this industry is very gimmicky and I check all the numbers 😂

Thank you for the comment!
Every reel on our rig is bypassed man. They're all just used for storage.
Yup!
Mike, did you know that you are not supposed to run a live line connected to potable water supply into a water tank?It is supposed to connect via an anti-siphon air gap device. Yup. Now you do.😮😊
I have never so much has heard of such an animal!
Part of waiting on water is the fact for some of us is we run 2-8gpm machines or 1-10gpm and 1-8gpm machine.
Also in my area with the mass population growth so many houses being built the water coming out of a customers water faucet is less than 4gpm at 36psi.
Yep!!!
I’d have to measure the inside of my 3/4” hose to varsity that. I’d look it up, but I’m not sure what brand it is
Well, at 1st I was sceptical that it would make that much of a difference, time wise, filling my tank, 600 litre . I disconnected it at a joiner & fed it into the tank from the top. Ihave never timed how long it takes to fill, running thru the reel, but i'm guessing around the 40 minute mark. I at least shaved off 20 minutes this morning! I'm off to have a feed of humble pie..........
20 minutes a day, 5 days a week…. You’re family thanks you!
Taking entirely too long to get to the title of the video 🤦♂️
Thanks for watching.
Once I got to the point, was there any positive take-a-ways?
Are you going to answer my question?
