Dude! You are amazing! Thank you...I have the 50" and I never knew this. I was cleaning her today and saw the silver metal saying "deck wash capable" I had to Google it knowing what it meant but no clue how to do it. You've saved me massive headache with this easy to follow video! Awesome brother thank-you
Perfect video! Clear. Concise. To the point. Quick. No B.S. You should give lessons to wanna be youtubers. Thanks for the info, and thanks for not wasting my time! You earned my thumbs up!
@@BumbuClaw Thanks! I've been doing this since Day 1 with my brand new ZT. I even used a label maker and put a reminder sticker next to the PTO button to remind my wife and teenage son. :)
Quick question. I just got this exact mower and the manual says to never use a hose on the mower anywhere except under the deck where the blades are. Can I disregard the manual? I noticed this guy hosed the entire mower.
Thanks for posting this! I just bought the same model Cub Cadet and wasn’t sure which parts I needed for the wash port. Just ordered the same kit from Amazon. You have a new subscriber :)
@@HelpMeDIY Nice! I’m looking forward to that video. I’m gonna try to stick to the oil change after the first 5 hours per the manual’s recommendation, which should be coming up soon once that grass starts a growin’:)
Nice Video - Thanks for sharing! I have the exact machine and it seems to clog a lot with each mow. I have been spraying with a pressure washing wand underneath to clean, but hopefully this will work well. I am also contemplating installing two (2) separate cleaning ports - one on each side of the deck. Might give it a more thorough cleaning?!
Excellent video on installing a Cub Cadet Deck Wash kit. These generic kits sold by the dealer or available on Amazon are easy to install and use but this video makes it even easier...lol A "MUST WATCH" tutorial. Thanks!!!
I am buying the deck wash kit today. But I took the spindles off and removed the seal on the inside of both bearings and added grease zerks to all 3 spindles so I can keep water out and the bearings protected.
No offence but this is one of the things CC did that just makes you ask why? Washing your deck will lead to early spindle bearing failure. It's about as dumb as headlights on a mower. And yes I own one. Just clean the underside of the deck with a plastic putty knife and your bearings will thank you. Just my 2¢
Thank you very much! Just like you say in the video (as well as other comments that back this up), my mower came with the quick connect hose attachment and no hardware for the deck.
This is a really good video. I will be suggesting this to some folks that do residential grass cutting. It is a great way to not transplant weeds and other desirable grasses to other lawns that did not have them. Have good days!
I just pressure-washed under my deck once a week. The water hose doesn't have enough pressure to remove all the grass and mud build-up. People must remember mud and grass can rust steel because they trap moisture against metal, which accelerates the oxidation of iron. 98% of stamp mower deck rusted out in less than 3 years. Because owners never properly clean under the deck.
@HelpMeDIY The best easiest and safest way to lift the mower is to buy some cheap car ramps. Get the rear tires on the ramp and put the mower in the park position. Use a leaf blower, and blow all the dust and grass clipping. Then start pressure washing. After I'm done washing, I blow dry the mower like they do at the car wash...I think you should make a nice video like that.
First thing I thought was your about to make a mess. My old lawn tractor cam with port from factory. Bought the same zt150 you have beginning of this year and was suprised didn’t come with clean out or hour reader. Wish I would of went with zt2.
Thanks for posting! My mower is the Cub Cadet 42 inch ZT1. It has the male end pre-installed but I didn't get the female adapter. Do you know if this will fit onto the pre-installed male fitting on my mower?
You do not want turn on the water full open, it will leak a lot of water on top of the deck around coupler and do not run blades at full throttle, just slightly above idle speed.
Your deck's going to get jammed up with juicy grass anyway. I use the the deck wash. I just take the deck off every fall.... Power wash Wire brush Sand Prime Paint Then I bake the finish on with a infrared heater. Works pretty good. There is a spring that connects two of the pulleys on top of the deck that will rub all the paint off. Drilled a couple holes and installed a replaceable sacrificial steel plate to take all the damage. Never had any problems with my spindles but I drilled a hole in each one, threaded it, and installed a grease fitting. Water doesn't get past Marine Grease

Just a heads up for PTO clutch health: engage the pto at half throttle to prolong the clutch life.
+mike Chapman good tip, thanks!
New zero turn owner here... why half throttle and not minimum throttle?
@@HawkGTboyit could possibly stall the engine if the throttle is all the way down but about halfway just helps everything transition smoothly

For faster drying, finish up by turning the water off, keep the blades spinning, lift up the deck to the highest height.

How clean was the bottom of the Deck after using, would have been very useful to see a before and after photos,

How good of a job did it do ???
That’s what I was wonting to see results 😊

The best way is to pressure wash underneath.
Also where did you purchase it from
+Onsby Miles Amazon. There is a link to it in the video’s description.
How well does it clean the area opposite to the spray?
+Bob Fognozzle just as well surprisingly.
I have a zt3 60 will that kit fit it
+Onsby Miles yes it should!
I was told that water is not good under the deck to just scrape it clean .. bad on bearings and rust and bottom of deck is most prone to rust
+buckwild1123 manufacturer made the port for water so…
