    I discovered that bamboo don't like the chemicals in the water we drink and that's especially true if the chemicals are chlorine and fluoride. I have to use bottled water or rain water for my 20 year old Bamboo.

      I have accidentally killed many plants with this 😶🥲🙃 my boyfriend moved out of state and gave me a bamboo plant, and IT IS GOING TO LIVE THIS TIME. Only the best for him from now on 👌

      @@kamilareeder1493 Be careful of the bottled water you purchase. Some bottled water have additives that may harm your plants. Some labels read: "Purified with minerals added for flavor," or so it will taste good to humans, but, I don't know if these minerals will harm houseplants. Many companies that sell bottled water put calcium, potassium, bicarbonate, magnesium and sometimes a little salt in them. I wonder if there's a market for houseplant's water?

      @@aah6489 Thanks :) Luckily I don't use bottled water because I don't like the single use plastics, so I water my plants using water from a brita filter. They are spoiled lol. So far I think the plant likes it, it doesn't have the yellow tips anymore and the stalk is getting greener

    When lucky bamboo grows in water, use only rain water or RO (reverse osmosis) water.

    I know this is an old video however they also may not like the chlorine in the water. I want to try some that I just got from Lowes (DIY) in the soil. They were letting them dry out in the little water spikes that they come in sometimes. Love your instructions!

    Concerning tap/treated water; I normally fill a jug of water and let it "breathe" for at least 30min (often a full day) before using on plants. I think that works though I still prefer rain water.

    These plants definitely need fertilized soil like any other plant, any potted plant soil works. I hate that stores sell them submerged in water or with water beads; they won't last long like that. If you're rooting cuttings, then the bottom can be submerged for a couple of weeks, no substrate needed - using some type of rooting powder is good to. Sometimes in order to save a plant, you need to cut and re-root them if they have root rot.

      Many plants grow best in water. This one can, too. The question is what water is used and are they getting the nutrients that they need. Whole gardens can be planted hydroponically...plants need food and most are sensitive to the chemicals in tap water. Rain water, filtered, or distilled are best. My philodendron thrives in water. All of my houseplants, except for my pothos (which will be transitioned soon) are in water and going strong.

    I wanted to ask you if you would help me with my luckies.
    They all 3 had turned yellow at the bottom, so I cut them and transplanted them. Only thing is, I'm not sure if I did it right. I watched you and did my best.
    I cut the yellow off and put them in this new vase, then I took the yellow ones and put them in another jar with roots attached.
    Was this all the right steps, and if not, would you mind helping me with what I may have missed or done wrong ? Also, should I cut the roots off the yellow stocks ?

    Many purified waters (bottled water) have chemicals added, I only drink spring water now because of the chemicals in the tap too, i drink ozarka, but as long as it says spring water and it lists the spring sources on the label, it's good.
    Our plants deserve this water just as much as we do ❤ No chemicals for them

    Your gravel was making the wather PH to high. You have to check rocks by putting them in vinegar if you see bubbles do not use it. Common knowledge in aquarium keepers.

    Hi Shara, II would like to ask you, I grow the Lucky Bamboo in the water, using bottled water. I change the once a week.
    There are times the leaves turn yellow or the stalk itself turns slowly to yellow and I have to replace it.
    Is this a problem of the water perhaps? I heard you saying that lbamboos prefer the soil.
    By the way, I have 12 stalks. I haven't found what's the meaning of 12 stalks.
    Thanks a lot for your help.

    People in here are funny,you really think nursery’s go out and buy purified water and use rainwater? 😂 ever stop to think it’s something your doing wrong? 🙄I have bamboo,poneytail palms,money trees ,and a couple of bela palms ! Funny I use tap water and my plants are thriving! Not everyone who has plants are able to afford purified water or have a option to collect rain water! Oh yeah and out here in California,there’s a serious drought going on! We’re lucky to get a inch of rain ! Not one of the plant stores around me use purified water or rain water in any of there stores and they have beautiful healthy plants ! Oh and I also have purple clovers that are thriving! Had them over 4 years now

      It's common knowledge that tap water is bad. Just because it's worked for you doesn't mean it's the right thing to do generally. Sorry you can't comprehend that judgemental Karen 🙄

    • @JesMarie_W3

      Ever stop to think that every municipality has different tap water? Likewise, many people's "tap" water is from a well! Well water is great for plants. Chlorine, Flouride, etc are not! Each area has different levels of each. Condescending much?

    • @JesMarie_W3
      @JesMarie_W3 Рік тому +2

      P.S. How hard is it to sit an empty drink container out the window for some rain water? How hard is it to dechlorinate our city tap water by sitting out, uncapped for 24 hours? It's not.

    • @TheINFP_Diary
      @TheINFP_Diary Рік тому +1

      Hi Vickie !
      Just wanted to throw out there that there are different levels of chemicals in tap water sources all around our cities and states.
      So it's great that your tap doesn't effect your plants negatively!
      Unfortunately some regions have pretty toxic levels of different types of chemicals, so for some, finding a way to get clean water for themselves and their plants may be something they look into.
