It’s always interesting to hear stories, specifically Ed’s, about celebrities who are really into cars, and not just as status symbols. Never would have thought Missy Elliot was a car person with such an interesting collection. Or that Stallone would be looking specifically for a great condition Spyker.

Oh man, these cars have always had a special place in my mind. There was a blue C8 which drove around Boston and that's the last one I've seen.
I think I have a picture of it from the Lars car show a while back

As a Dutchmen I love Spyker and it breaks my hart that this beautiful brand did not make it, there is a company now Spyker Enthousiast which have rebuild Spyker coceptcars into road worthy cars and other grazy stuff like that.
in the beginning of 2022, the news came out that a Russian investor found interest in Spyker, and actually bought the rights to it. At the end of 2022 it was planned to start production of the C8, B6 and D12 in small quantity's on request. But nothing ever came out of it (probably due to the war, or pure fake news)
At least we still have donkervoort.
But yes a shame first maker of a 4 wheel drive racecar in the 1910s
When Spyker bought Saab the now deceased owner of Just Saab in Cincinnati bought a Spyker C8. It wasn't just a car, it was a work of art. The interior was so beautiful.

In 2007 there was even a Spyker F1 racing team. They used Ferrari engines in it. Later this team changed owners again to become Force India which then became Racing Piont.
I've always thought of the Spyker C8 as a "poor man's" Pagani. The level of attention to detail in both are phenomenal, and both are works of art

If you ever in The Netherlands you should visit the louman museum. It’s a car museum about the history of the car. And they have a few original spykers on display.
I was just there a few weeks ago, the collection they have is incredible! I'm so sad that my picture of Kaiser Wilhelm's Mercedes got corrupted...

Missy’s car game is up there and she doesn’t even flaunt it so many wouldn’t even know. She got an SVJ for her birthday last year.
To this day, nothing in the garage gets more positive attention than the Spyker. Lovely to drive and even better to stare at.

It's a one of a kind steampunk automobile! All of that style and 190 mph, yeah, it must be an unique experience to cruise anywhere with that because you probably won't see another along the way. Get ready for people taking pictures of it every time you park it somewhere! I will when I see one!

Missy Elliott always spoke about this car and how she thought it was so beautiful looking that she rarely if ever drove the thing. She ended up selling it eventually but yeah it was one of those cars she bought mainly just to look at
I think that if Silvester Stalone doesn't buy it than keep it. You wanted that car and you can have a great story. If he buys it you can say that you sold a car to Silvester Stalone. If he doesn't buy it you can say you almost sold a car to him.

Spyker definitely shouldn't have ended as they did, but were driven into the ground by the megalomania of Victor Müller. A shame really.
Quite some years ago, before becoming a automotive testing engineer, i did an internship at a Dutch car magazine. News was buzzing that Muller had bought Saab. Our whole redaction was sceptical if he could make it work, but we had to report ofcourse. They reached out on his mobile and couldn't reach him.
One morning I am first in the office and the phone rings. Hello, this is Victor. You tried to call me? Eeh yes hello, I am just the intern I think you need my colleague. He should be in in 30 minutes. Oh it's fine, i can talk now.
We had a really pleasant and to me inspiring call. I could ask so much about Spyker, Saab, the deal they worked out and how they did. I never expected such a guy to make so much time for a random intern. And I learned a lot from it.
Fun fact. Spyker announced that they are making a comeback after a huge investment they just received recently
@@tokyo7815 Apparently Mr.Muller is still pulling the strings with some Russian investors? Sounds sketchy to me. Also the original designer has long withdrawn from the project and they want to build the ten year old designs. I hope they succeed but I fear they won't

In 2004, the Porsche team I was working for went to LeMans France to compete in the 24 hours. That same year Spyker had a car entered in the race. Almost every day the owner of the company would bring his black roadster and park in the parking lot and I drooled over that thing every time I looked at it.
Missy had a 6.0 Diablo that ended up here in Charleston SC after she hired a company to transport it to VA and a dispatcher totaled it on a joyride in 2001. The guy was sentenced to 3 years, the car was rebuilt by a euro shop here and it’s still around today
I had the pleasure of seeing the Spyker in person in the beginning of last month while I was down at Curated. Such a gorgeous car in person and they truly are a work of art.

The Spyker C8 has been my dream car for a long time...
I actually walked into Lamborghini of Atlanta (or maybe it was motorcars of Georgia) at sometime around 2009 or so and saw a black on tan interior in the show room...
I still think about that sometimes..
There was also a Noble M12 in the parking lot in dark blue or black, if I remember right...
I've only ever seen these cars in video games, but man I love their style. It's cool that it still looks so good, those seemed to age really well

I worked next door to the shop that put the radio in that car. I was extra excited to see a story about a car I have been within 10ft of.

When I was a kid we had a dealership in Houston that sold spykers, and I remember asking my dad to take me when I was 8 or so. They let me sit in it, turned it on for me, gave me the whole experience, it was great. Always wanted one since then. The exposed metal on the gear linkage was so cool to me even then.

I would say hang onto it Ed your first instinct was the correct one, and maybe if you hold it long enough it could be your building block to the Veyron, or even the F1 that you have always dreamed of. Unless of course Rocky actually wants it in which case I’m sure it will be a great story!

I heard Missy Elliot is a car person. Very rare in entertainment these days for celebrities to love their cars and take care of them. Lady GaGa also has my admiration because she has a lot of classic collector cars.

I remember buying a dupont registry when I was in middle school or high school and on the cover was the spyker c12 la turbie. From then on I've always been fascinated with these cars and is definitely on the bucket list to drive some day.
First time I saw a Spiker was the Supercars Exposed TV show hosted by Tanner Foust on Speed channel.
There is a guy at my yacht club in Southern California who bought his Spyker C8 brand new… still has it.
Such an amazing car.
It’s a silver C8 spider, red interior, and has the fancy propeller steering wheel.
Unfortunately he very seldom drives it.
In fact, he usually just sits in it and drinks wine in it in his garage with his wife. The car has less than 500 miles on it.
Everybody not in the know about Spyker or just wants a good laugh.

My 2 absolute dreamcars, and equal 1’s on my favourite car list, is a green XJ220, and an F40. I’ve never seen either of these cars anywhere but on tv, but I really hope at one point I’m able to see one. I’d love to drive them but it would be bittersweet, because it would be the best day of my life, and also incredibly disappointing because I would have to stop, and get out, and never ever do it again.
Best way to Describe a Spyker would be like comparing watches. While Rolex is very reliable and commonly known. Spyker is like Zenith, a watch company that's exceptional but also make fantastic and beautiful watch movements. Spyker showcases the movements in the car with beautiful upholstery and open mechanisms for you to look at while driving. . It's Fine automotive Art Shoved in your face. I remember when Spyker showcased at the LA. auto Show in the Famous Exotic room! I remember when the Diablo Sv came out. Everyone in the room ignored the Diablo and flocked to the Spyker Exhibit. Absolutely beautiful cars.

Always loved this car. I first saw it in the movie War with Jet Li and Jason Statham. There were several car scenes with Jet driving this spyker. Beautiful car and timeless.
That is where I was introduced to Spyker as well.
I also remember that movie war Jason Statham was driving a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle chasing jet li in the spyker jet li gets away and Jason Statham crashes the 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle

I could tell that this was an Ed's video just from the title. It was crazier than others.
I know its a bit cheesy, but I first learned of this car through GTA IV through a swizz beats song called Top Down, "this chick said hey Swizzy let me ride in your viper, I said hell naw dont you know thats a Spyker; Number 2 out of 20 in the world" later that week I was watching TGUK and lo and behold Jeremy Clarkson was Reviewing the C8 Spyker and that song popped into my head again. ahh the memories. very nice find!
I remember seeing one in person in Newport Beach about a decade ago, I remember it being like automotive art. The only other car that gives me a similar vibe is Pagani, their craftsmanship levels are both exceptional

My favourite part about the Spyker C8 is that it looks like a 60 Le Mans car, especially from the rear where it has lots of Porsche 904 characteristics.

I sat in a Spyker once. I was completely overwhelmed with how nicely put together it was. It honestly felt like a simpler version of the Paganis I've sat in.

In the late 2000s we got a Lamborghini dealership in Portland OR that mostly had Spyker C8's in stock. I still remember going and sitting in those cars after highschool (yes they left them unlocked in the show room, no idea why) I Still think about how weird I thought they where at the time. Never knew that they'd become super rare and way more valuable than the Gallardo's that I listed after at the time.

I guess you never know where someone might find a car that I've never seen in person. Only in Gran Turismo, a magazine , and finally reviewed on video... I think it was Richard Hammond , and I seem to recall him saying the craftsmanship and quirkiness reminded him of Pagani.
Anyway, great story, as always, Ed. Selling it to Sly Stallone certainly adds to it! But I'm sort of vicariously hoping you keep it.

Around 2006 or early 07 , as a teen I went to the Miami auto show and got to sit in one , after a picture was taken of me siting in the are a security pulled me out of the car . I remember it having the nice fancy wheel.
