I haven't sewn in several years. I learned on my mothers Singer in the 1960s. That machine was barebones. The various knobs on my Baby Lock were intimidating but I was happy to see that some things, like threading the bobbin and inserting it and loading the top thread, are the same. I'm excited to get started.
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! I'm so excited to finally use my machine. It's been sitting in it's original box for 2 months now. Thanks to you today I learned how to wind a bobbin. Tomorrow, I will learn how to sew and take over the world. Baby steps! 😊
Thank you! I’m a beginner and haven’t used my sewing machine in 2 years. Your quick, to the point instruction was the refresher I needed, so I could fix the hem in my curtains.
Thanks for your feedback. I am planning to buy this as a travel machine while away from my industrial. My other option for a basic mechanical dressmaking machine would be the Janome 2212 which I've had a year ago, but donated. This Zest sounds excellent at half the price of the Janome 2212.
Thank you guys so much! You have a wonderful store! Very helpful💖 thank you for taking time to help my daughter learn how to use her new machine! You rock👍
I have to say just bought a Baby lock Jazz ll. Did good on setting up the machine except for bobbin thread was loose. Well, luck up on your video you are the only one that gave me what i was looking for. Well, with that been said. What to set the tension and how to set my bobbin thread. So, now my bobbin stitches are perfect. Thank You!*****
I bought this machine and love it. I am a rookie at sewing and learning the hard way about thread quality is very frustrating. Even some of the expensive brands of thread are just name brand popular and not real quality thread. Cheep thread quality really messes up on the Zest bobbin in the bottom.
You are correct - not all threads are created equal. We like Presencia and Wonderfil Konfetti for 100% cotton threads. Both are 3 ply, gassed to eliminate fuzzies, no glue or glazing on them, and they sew beautifully. The Presencia we use is the 60 wt (2 yr study at the Univ of Wyo on quilting thread had this #1 for piecing, general sewing) and it's fabulous! Doesn't take up room in the seam so allowances are more accurate.
I recently bought this machine. I’m new to sewing but I like the machine so far. I’m looking for a place to order fabric and notions other than Michael’s or Joann. Do you guys ship?
Yes, we do ship! You can go to our website at www.maggiessewvac.com. Sorry for the delayed response - I had no idea these comments were waiting! Maggie
If you take the bobbin case and don't hold on to the little lever, you can just drop the bobbin out into the palm of your hand. If the lever is out, it locks the bobbin into the case and it won't come out.
If anyone can help me please do I bought the baby lock zest got my daughter-in-law it was her first sewing machine and she didn’t like it she liked my Singer better so I gave her mine Bad mistake I can’t get this machine to sew good stitches my thread breaks every time I am yet to get a line done.

The old singers are built better than the modern ones. The old ones are still metal parts. The modern ones use plastic.

How do you thread the needle? Does the thread come in from left or right?
Front to back.

What is the lil number wheel between the threading parts 1 and 3 .....the lil # wheell goes up to 9

I have a BL 500 baby lock sewing machine. How can I reach you? Need some help please
We can be reached at 970-472-1822 or maggies.sewvac@gmail.com
How much it that
Confusing with the Solaris box in the background. 🤔
Is the update of BL 9? That is a powerful, sturdy machine.
Those familiar with that model say it is.
Hey!! Do you still have the Baby Lock Zest Sewing Machine!?? I need the foot pedal if you are willing to sell. PLEASE LMK!!❤️❤️
Merci
How do you use the thread cutter?
so helpful!!!
How do i remove the bobbin from the bobin case?

Thanks so much for the reply. But what if it doesnt just "drop" out?
how come you didn't show threading the needle? I'm new to this.
Hi, I'd like to HEAR how it runs...
What is the name of the foot pedal for your machine
If anyone can help me please do I bought the baby lock zest got my daughter-in-law it was her first sewing machine and she didn’t like it she liked my Singer better so I gave her mine Bad mistake I can’t get this machine to sew good stitches my thread breaks every time I am yet to get a line done.
I really wished that you actually recorded how the sewing machine sounded like when sewing. That is something that I look.
I would like to hear the sewing machine work, it tells a lot about the machine.
Hi Cindy - Yes it does! That's a great suggestion - thanks for your comment.
I can’t put the bobbin back in :(
I wanted to hear the machine in action. All that and I didn't even get to hear it 🤦
No clue
