Hi all, I’ve been working on this film for 4 months, balancing it with University and other films, so I’m super excited to share this at last! Do let me know if you enjoy. It’s been a pleasure working with Schmidt Ocean Institute and the breathtaking raw footage they so kindly provided. Episode 2 - the Midnight Zone - is underway and I can’t wait for you all to see that too!
I absolutely love your work. Thank you so much for providing such high-quality informative content! You put your heart and soul into these videos and it shows ❤
Thank you so much. I have to catch a 6am train tomorrow and tonight I'm having a tough conversation with someone. Your work always calms me down and helps me sleep, as well as teaching me new things about the ocean. I do think you shouldn't take a sponsorship from Masterworks again, though. They don't educate their customers well on the risks of the art market.
"The deep sea floor is, at first glance, a place of filth and decay -- destitute, perhaps, and full of horrors. But if we look a little closer, we uncover a place of beauty -- a realm where corals craft mighty kingdoms on the seamount crusts; where the delicate structures of sponges provide refuge for others; and where scavengers attend bountiful feasts that last for decades." This is just _achingly_ poetic.

What a wonderful addition to your already fantastic channel offerings, Leo! Mesmerizing and beautifully produced as always. I am absolutely awed by the amazing variety and beauty of the deep ocean's inhabitants, and truly appreciate your efforts to showcase them for us. I'm eagerly anticipating the next episode!

I have a deep love for the ocean and your videos spark a motivation to learn more about it. I can’t get over the fact that you just do this as a hobby while in school, you’re beyond amazing for this
Sometimes, I experience eramnesia and feel as if I was born in the wrong era of human history. There are times when I wish I had lived during the days of my parents' youth, or my grandparents. But watching content like this makes me feel the other way around. I cannot express how meaningful it is that living in the modern age means I can learn these endlessly fascinating things about the world I live in.
I can't wait for the next installment!! This is one of the most fascinating things I have ever seen, and it instilled in me that same childlike awe and fascination I have had with the world since I was a child--a feeling I too often forget these days. Please keep up the great work!! I'm in great appreciation and wonder. Take your time and we'll be waiting!
Your channel is so underrated it hurts. No wonder it takes so long to produce a video like this, the narrative is so well written and thought out making it easy to understand and satisfyingly relaxing to listen. The footage are so interesting it really piques the curiosity within me making me want to see and know more about the nature, I didn't even see time pass. It really is a work that takes big effort and I somehow can feel your heart in it. So thank you so much for sharing this with us, please never stop doing this beautiful work, I'll be looking forward to it
@chrispyshade Thank you so much this is unbelievably kind of you!!! I can’t put it into words, I am just over the moon at this feedback. This channel is mainly just my passion project, so for that to come across from watching it is just wonderful. I hope to make these for years to come, my dream career is deep sea explorer and science communicator!
@@NaturalWorldFacts that's awesome! Anyone can see that you have a lot of potential and passion for this work, you can convey that through your videos it's really inspiring. One day I will see you post a video of your own deep sea expedition and discoveries, go for it, the secrets are waiting for you to share them with us hahahaha just joking. Keep on this path even if it can be tiring sometimes, you're already doing amazing and you will still get far, wishing you the best buddy
Absolutely beyond excited for this! This is so much more interesting and way better production quality than anything I've watched in high school Marine Bio. Thank you NWF and thanks to those who have helped/supported this channel in making these amazing films and videos!
I love these videos. No overly dramatic music, no jump surprises, no loud noises or obnoxious attention grabbers. If I'm feeling physically sick, I can still watch these videos with no issues.
These videos are not only educational, but soothing and poetic as well! I'm learning, but I feel very relaxed and a little sleepy. Your voice has a calming effect and I like that it's not loud and frantic. Just calm. It makes everything easy to understand and I feel like I'm absorbing more knowledge this way. I watched the Midnight zone video and it was absolutely fascinating! Now I am watching more of these, having a bit of a marathon. Despite how scary the ocean may seem, there are a lot of beautiful creatures dwelling there. I'm a fan of cephalopods and crustaceans myself. I just find them all very cute! You have earned a new sub! Thank you for your hard work and making these beautiful videos!
Your comment made me smile so much!! Thank you - these films have been my passion project since I was 9 years old (the first ones are still up haha), so hearing that you’re enjoying them the way you are is just a wonderful feeling!
I find this kind of stuff SO interesting, but most of the time everything is made intentionally scary, and I'm a highly anxious person so that's a no from me, so finding your channel was a miracle. I love that I can just sit back and be awed without having to worry about something jumpscaring me or something
The consistency in quality of your scripts and narration really do justice to the enthralling subject matter. I've learnt so much from your channel and thoroughly enjoyed my time doing so! I find myself really curious about what the migratory creatures make of Sebastian's lights and cameras - I would have thought they might mistake them for daylight and try to instinctively dive deeper to maintain their camoflague from potential predators... perhaps even more curious about the abyssal creatures, which are used to perpetual darkness and likely have never even encountered a light source! I would have expected at least those with eyes, being adapted for such low light levels, might be blinded and scarper instantly; yet for the most part they always seem as if it's business as usual on film! TIA if you have either any known insights or personal speculations about this? In the meantime thankyou for another fantastic film, can't wait for the next!
as a film student myself, this was breathtaking and extremely informative and mesmerizing! some of the shots in this film were incredible; keep up the stellar work !!
These documentaries of yours are a great comfort to me when I'm doing bad emotionally. I have cried to so much footage of deep sea creatures and i hope you're able to continue making these :)
im in awe!! i love the quality of each organisms' footage, im seriously in love with how magical all of them look. i also really love the voice over and explanations, i really like how peaceful it is and the soundtrack, how the choice of video works really well with the content of what you say and the way you say it (also really like the little spikes of excitement when your narrating hehe) thank you lots!! really enjoyed it
I really need to say thank you. I've been watching your videos for a while now and can see your steady improvement over time. Its astonnishing how well made your documentaries are, how knowledgeable you as a person are about what you are presenting to us, and how skillfull you are at giving your viewers an understanding of difficult marine subjects. I'm in love of your work. Thank you for every video you have done so far, and thank you for every video you are going to produce in the future. Keep doing what you are doing, cause you are doing it great.
i'm positively entralled by this video; every part of it is magical - the choice of background sound, the narrating style, the footage. it's such an amazing experience to watch it! thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing such a fantastic job here.
Wow! I thought to myself when I first discovered your film that I had encountered something reminiscent of Wild Discovery or many of the older nature documentaries. However, what you've made here far exceeded this expectation. You have wonderfully descriptive, factual, and expertly written narration such that you don't embellish or seek to add to nature's beauty but yet you enhance the experience of it and plant the seeds of many thoughts, learning, and appreciation with it too. I don't know that I've ever seen scientific narration performed so skillfully! The cinematography is absolutely enthralling and very well edited. It flows and synergizes with your narration perfectly. I look forward very much to seeing more of your work; it is a true gift! Thank you!
Not just amazing in it's splendid photography and educational value, but the most soothing way to learn new things I've ever witnessed. Thank You for making this video and narrating it brilliantly.
Thank you, I really appreciate that!! This felt very different to create, in a good way, to my normal films. Working directly (and closely) with Schmidt Ocean Institute, who very kindly granted me access to their footage archives to make this series, was wonderful. They were so encouraging at every step of the way, and super keen to help me put this together in a way that did justice to the fascinating topics and their gorgeous footage
just incredible, i can hear the quiet joy in your voice as you narrate over these wonders of nature, thank you and everyone involved for bringing this series to our screens for free! and thank you for reminding me of the beauty in life! it's humbling to see how life flourishes far away from human eyes.
I was so intrigued by the brief glimpses into the depths as a kid looking at National Geographics in the 90s! This channel is everything I could have hoped for as a nature lover, truly great! thank you for this amazing content, top tier documentaries!
Not even 10 min in and I am already getting the vibes of nature documentaries I used to watch as a kid. This is amazing. I really hope that you are able to go as far as you dream. You have no idea how much joy this brings me. Thanks for posting this. ❤❤❤❤❤

When you eat it, its bioluminescence shines through your transparent belly, making you a target for predators. Evolve your way to eating your favorite prey while retaining your virtual invisibility." I'm not even half way and I'm almost to tears! This is beautiful! ❤ This is a masterpiece. ❤ Every single creature is so mindblowingly amazingly beautiful! Your video presentations are always inspiring. Marine biology and science will always be an interest of mine. Much love, I hope this comment reaches you to let you know you're appreciated from all over the world. Thank you! :)
The emotions I feel while watching this documentary, the loneliness of the denizens of the twilight zone!!! What a wonderful piece of art!!!! Thank you for such an incredible video
The beauty of the firefly squid - and the mood you create - astound me. You've curated a fabulous work of art 🎉 The issue of ocean plastic makes me weep in light of this documentary. You are a gifted documentarian and are helping to open our eyes to the intrinsic worth of places like this - necessary to our world's existence, but unseen by most
The problem is that a lot of ocean life really isn't necessary for our life on land. We can survive just fine without it. As such a lot of people sadly don't give a shit. Humans are selfish parasites who don't care about other life unless it directly benefits them in some way. The only way any big names will ever care about marine life is if there's profit to be made off of them. Hopefully this mentality changes as the older generations who run these companies rot and die. And hopefully Hell also exists, just for them.
Excellent audio for surround sound hifi and good headphones. Thank you the documentary. Very well put together and your voice is worth a full salary at BBC.

Thank you!! ❤️ This channel is just a solo project / hobby of mine - I’m still a uni student - so hearing this feedback makes me very happy
I agree. Just found this now and am very impressed I subscribed within 4 seconds of the video starting
Wow, okay. So we have a full on high production value documentary here. You deserve a million views and more!
Thank you!!! 🥰 Honestly, I think this is the vid I’m most proud of so far
Preach! Attenborough all over again
Take 50 years of modern medicinal progress away and youd beg to come back to our time haha
I love your channel so much. All of the effort you put in is definitely appreciated! Thank you for always giving us the best. ❤️ love from TX.
This is seriously higher quality than a lot of the films I’ve seen played in the big boy natural history museums!!!
Thank you so much!!! That’s crazy! I’m just a uni student who loves the deep sea a bit too much!
So thank you so much for sharing this with us, please never stop doing this beautiful work, I'll be looking forward to it
Yep
Just wow. Your scripts for these stunning videos of yours, is both education and art. I cant believe this channel is real. Thank You
Thank you 🥰
Your voice is hypnotically soothing. Thank you for your videos.
This is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on this platform awesome
You still remain the only UA-camr whose videos I’ll set aside time to be able to watch with full focus.
as a film student myself, this was breathtaking and extremely informative and mesmerizing! some of the shots in this film were incredible; keep up the stellar work !!
Best deep sea channel on UA-cam by far 😊
I haven't even watched this yet, but I can tell this will be a great video. Cheers to you mate!
These documentaries of yours are a great comfort to me when I'm doing bad emotionally. I have cried to so much footage of deep sea creatures and i hope you're able to continue making these :)
I watched this while sad too. It helped a bit. Hope your days get better and that you have many wonderful times.
Amazing video as always Leo! The Twilight Zone of the ocean is one of my favorites to learn about!
I’m so excited for this! Your documentaries are amazing. Thank you for making them! ❤

Thank you so, so much for this!!
im in awe!! i love the quality of each organisms' footage, im seriously in love with how magical all of them look. i also really love the voice over and explanations, i really like how peaceful it is and the soundtrack, how the choice of video works really well with the content of what you say and the way you say it (also really like the little spikes of excitement when your narrating hehe)
thank you lots!! really enjoyed it
please never stop making these! i save watching them until i can truly appreciate them, and it is worth it! amazing!
If you re-voiced these documentaries at the age of 60, I wonder if you would sound like David Attenborough
I subscribed last night and I gotta say I just want to watch more and more thank u for the hard work these are masterpieces
Such a soothing narrator. I like to put the longer videos from this channel on while I'm working.
Oh yeah this is a relaxing 5am video for sure
i'm positively entralled by this video; every part of it is magical - the choice of background sound, the narrating style, the footage. it's such an amazing experience to watch it! thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing such a fantastic job here.
So glad you're back with this one. I love your work so much. Thanks for doing what you do.

Thank you!
Amazing work on this film. We’re discovering another alien world down there 🩵
Not just amazing in it's splendid photography and educational value, but the most soothing way to learn new things I've ever witnessed. Thank You for making this video and narrating it brilliantly.
Been here a long time, this is a cut above the rest of your already excellent content. Congrats bro, I hope you will have the career you deserve!
So beautiful seeing all this footage.
I think Leo is a rare person who can make fecal pellets sound beautiful.
😁🥰 My mum was proudly scrolling through my video comments and sent this exact one to me in a screenshot. It made us both chuckle.
Thanks, I feel like watching a high-budget documentary from Netflix or Nat Geo. Keep up the good work 🎉
Thank you, videos like these get me through late nights with my toddler
I was so intrigued by the brief glimpses into the depths as a kid looking at National Geographics in the 90s! This channel is everything I could have hoped for as a nature lover, truly great! thank you for this amazing content, top tier documentaries!
As a visual learner these kinds of films make me remember so much more than a book ever can.
I’m the same! It’s one of the reasons I always try to use almost exclusively footage in my films, rather than stills or random b-roll.
Not even 10 min in and I am already getting the vibes of nature documentaries I used to watch as a kid. This is amazing. I really hope that you are able to go as far as you dream. You have no idea how much joy this brings me. Thanks for posting this. ❤❤❤❤❤
What an incredible video. I was mesmerized. The mixture of facts, the incredible footage, commentary and sound quality kept me hooked!
The videos are frickin amazing. Love this channel. Thank you for making such great videos WITH SUBTITLES too
Found your channel recently... And oh my goodness. What an absolute treat. A gem of documentarian content not just on UA-cam, but media as a whole-- To think you're doing these substantial films basically by yourself is insane. You have a good eye for footage, a wonderful appreciation for the life down here, and an incredibly soothing voice. Perfection
Thank you so very much for this!! You’ve no idea how much this made me smile, goodness gracious! This channel has been first and foremost a hobby of mine since I was 9 years old, 11 years ago, so to have this kind of response is just wonderful!!
@@NaturalWorldFacts Oh my goodness, such dedication! That's absolutely wild. I reiterate everything I said again, and wish you a good 11 years more :} Again, it's phenomenal; real professional-grade stuff. Keep it up

What a fantastic and engaging channel! The writing, narration, music, and cinematography are all outstanding.
THIS is the most BEAUTIFUL video I've seen on oceans. the emotion portrayed, the nostalgia, power to the creator, good job guys. thank you for bringing this amazing work to us all.
"This is your challenge, should you choose to accept it:
You are a transparent sea creature, living in the deep. Your delicious prey is bioluminescent. When you eat it, its bioluminescence shines through your transparent belly, making you a target for predators. Evolve your way to eating your favorite prey while retaining your virtual invisibility."
What an incredible video! Thank you so much! 🐟🐠🐙🐋🦈
You never fail to make an astounding documentary! I already can’t wait for the next part! Good luck and god speed!!!
your videos are so cool! They're calming and mesmerizing and I love how the science is explained in a way that's interesting but not too overdramatic. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that
You have such a beautiful voice. Your voice matches the rhythm of this deep sea realm. Soothing, floating and eerie all at the same time. Your voice with this beautiful film made watching it a dream like experience. It was wonderful!!!!!!
Absolutely stunning and beautiful, your voice is soothing, please PLEASE keep the videos coming! Thank you!!
The part where the firefly squid float ominously was so beautiful and haunting at the same time.
I'm not even half way and I'm almost to tears! This is beautiful! ❤ This is a masterpiece. ❤ Every single creature is so mindblowingly amazingly beautiful! People keep talking about aliens in space.. the aliens are here, right out there in our oceans! They need to explore more of the oceans, I cannot begin to imagine the kind of life we would find ❤
Beautifully created video. I literally cannot wait to see the next parts! Please release it soon 😊
Ep 2 is in the works 😉 some amazing midnight zone footage!!! Can’t wait to share

I love all of your videos. I have struggled my entire life with severe insomnia, due to chronic migraines and anxiety. @@NaturalWorldFacts I’ve seen a lot of them! I even recommended your videos to my zoology teacher!!
The beauty of the firefly squid - and the mood you create - astound me. You've curated a fabulous work of art 🎉
The issue of ocean plastic makes me weep in light of this documentary.
