Chevy Silverado oil leak fix

- Hard to find oil leak rear main oil seal plate replacement. I recommend checking the oil pressure sending unit first and oil pan gasket I diagnosed this one by putting engine oil ultra violet dye in the oil and looking for the leak with a uv light and yellow glasses to make the oil glow where the leak was.

How can I know of its the oil sending unit or the main rear seal?
I have an 07 with a oil leak that gets all over the engine and smokes like crazy.
Seemed to be the valve cover gasket and replaced that. Which seemed to fix it for awhile but then the truck sat awhile and it occurred again. Actually caught on fire and I've fixed everything and got it running again. But trying to make sure all the leaks are fixed.
Plan to replace the oil pressure sensor next. But haven't looked forward to taking out the intake to do it. Any hacks you know for that one. Also is there anywhere else on top of the engine that could be the culprit for oil leak. It seems to be on top and towards the back of the engine on the passenger side
I wish I had the confidence to drop the transmission and replace the rear main seal but I believe that's a little out of my realm
BASICALLY ITS A REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK GUYS.
Not always I made this because a oil pressure sending unit leaks in the same spot. And I pulled 2 trans before learning that it was way easier to pull the sending unit. But this one was rear main plate and seal.
Where are you located?
I have a rear main seal that needs replaced on a 2003 chevy tahoe z71 4x4 .

changed my rear main and rear main cover , oil pan but left the gasket cus it was still good had engine rebuild brand new gasket but flex plate had ate oil pan so I swapped oil pan but gasket wasn’t bad left it there and then tighten the oil pressure sensor still leaking any body know from where

Did this leak happen all the time or only with the engine running?
Asking because I have a leak, suspect the oil pressure sending unit because it only leaks when running and kinda pours while revving
It was only when parked on a hill and off I did change the sending unit first though that’s a common failure with the chevys
Yours sounds like the sending unit I would put your phone back there and video it close to the sender if you can unless you have access to a borascope

How much oil do you figure would have made it under the valley pan/cover???
I tore it all off, changed the oil pressure sending unit, it was definitely leaking/spraying.. cleaned it put back together now I’ve put about 100 Kms on it, just city, no highway yet..

@@bmint well it’s hard to say but there is a cam sensor near the oil pressure sensor you changed that can leak and fill up and pour out the back also. It has a oring on it.
What did you do to make it run without the transmission? Just put on starter and flex plate

I uselly charge around 600-700$ with parts
Do you need alignment tool?
I use 2 bolts that I cut the head off of to align it but yes it does have to be aligned
Can overheating cause this to leak
Did u have to drain the pil pan??
No I just loosened the rear oil pan bolts and put rtv on the corners
Dealing with this same problem but I haven’t tore into mine yet. Mines 4x4 so it’ll be a little more to it 😢

Yeah did you use the alignment tool for the plate

We have changed that part and it seems like I still have oil Leaking from the same place
It’s possible it could be rye oil pressure sending unit or cam sensor
