My 11 Avalanche has this leak. I ordered a new gasket and it looks like the old one you took off of yours. I figured since it listed as OEM it would be best, I have heard that the OEM and the one you used is the way to go. I can only hope as I don't want to do this on a regular lol.
I noticed that shorty oil filter. There is a longer version for more filtering capacity you can get from your local GM dealership, it's an ACDelco filter,a good filter, I thought I had one here to give you the part number but it should be no problem for them to strike a few keys for you. Good informative vid and nice exhaust work too.
@@BaunPerformanceI have replaced mine three different times but I have never had that kind of gasket it is still leaking and all they keep giving me I need to try one with the rubber like you having this video mine's an 06 Chevy Silverado 1500 two-wheel drive 5.3
Thanks bud. I hope it is not the rear main. After Watching your video I am praying it’s the oil line gasket. I have a channel also. From Hickory NC. Keep up the good videos. Good luck to you.
@Braun Performance - Hey Jake! Great video. Thank you. I have a 2011 Chevy Suburban LT 5.3L. I noticed oil in my driveway. I took it to the dealership and I was told the front engine cover, a host of gaskets and cam sensor needs replacing for a total $2500. Any feedback or suggestions you have? Please let me know. Thank you.
$2,500 is crazy labor, take it somewhere else for a second opinion. Even better, clean the entire area first so it’s easier to find the leak like I did here.
Ive got a major oil leak coming from that little inspection plate under the transmission. I just pulled the enigne and did a rear main seal and it started leaking from there. I hope it's not that again! :/
If you don’t have access to car lift like you do. Any recommendations on how to clean it good enough to see where the leak is? I went in for an oil change and was told I have a rear main seal leak. But they didn't clean in. So not sure how they are for sure there is athe leak there. So I want to check myself. I have a 2011 chevy Silverado 5.3 with 214K miles
The lift is nice, but definitely not necessary. In the past I’ve done oil changes on the Suburban without lifting it at all so you should be able to get under there to spray it off with degreaser/brake cleaner & rinse with water. There’s always jack & jackstands or ramps if you have them (& can do so safely) if you need extra room.
I’m an aircraft mechanic & have this shop at home for my fabrication business on the side (this is my personal Suburban). I don’t take on any regular maintenance work as I’m already booked out months in advance with the stuff I enjoy doing.
@@jakebaun8422 question can I still leak from that same place if I don’t have the lines ? It has a small clock offff plate w same screws looks like oil leak from there not she’s Where did u buy the gasket ?
My truck is leaking in the same spot thank you this will help me out
was it the same thing?
I have watched a few videos on this and it looks like mine. For $5, its worth a try and doesnt look too bad.

Hmmmmm! Very interesting. thankyou for posting. I just bought a 08 silverado and I suspected rear main seal. But i hope your right! Ill check it out😎
Hope it’s a easy fix, if I ever had to do a RMS I’d probably refresh the transmission & throw in a new converter while I’m in there
Hi, how to invitate you to test our third brkae light for 07-13 Silverado
Finally, some good LS content
It’ll be good when I throw boost at it haha

I subscribed to yours, might cross paths at some point we go up there to ride at Moto40 in Statesville! Definitely hope it’s not a RMS
was it a main seal¿??

I figured this thank you.
No problem!
What color was the leak from the cooler lines did it have a smell is it a weird yellow almost like oil
It’s engine oil
What are the torque specs for the engine cooler line bolts?
No clue, but they’re small so if I had to guess 25 inch lbs
So the part is the gasket for the oil cooler lines, right?
Correct, I’d recommend OEM GM as it’s far better quality than aftermarket
Thank you
You're welcome
2014 Tahoe ppv has developed the same issue. Thanks.
Glad I could help!
How much to do this exact job on my 15 silverado?

Did you have the p0521 engine code?
No fault codes
Would that part for 2007 avalanche
Not sure, I’d check you model year specifically to be sure
Did your vehicle stàrt knocking cause of the leak
No, a oil leak will not cause knock
What is the partnumber?
15203889
I don’t have those lines ?? It has the two screws with no lines?
The oil cooler is optional, I believe part of the tow package (mine has a built in trailer brake controller as well).

Where did u buy the gasket ?
How can I get in contact with you?
For fabrication inquiries, jlbaun26@gmail.com
For anything else just ask here.
I tried tightening these 2 bolts and honestly they feel like they could strip. I didn't want to keep going so I stopped
Nothing in this video said to just tighten them down.
If anything that’ll warp the flange and make it worse
@BaunPerformance kinda need to tighten the fucken bolts after putting a new gasket in don't ya?? Holy hell!!!
Are you in NC I have a Chevy avalanche
SC, but not far from Charlotte
My son has a 2008 Silverado that is leaking in same place his is knocking
Trash the motor and grt a new one if it wasn't knocking then it would be that gasket
Boi I'm going to look right now an I hope this is it
Big relief if it is vs a RMS!
