ngl, had that exact thought yesterday because I heard a helicopter pass over my house much louder than ever before...
I'll be completely honest, ever since I watched Hololive since a year ago I've been sometimes unconsciously saying desuwa some times in between, just in unconscious hope and wish of a ojou-sama character, simply because it's so fun and OHouHouHOuHouHou and I don't know, there's just something about it.
and Salome-ojou-sama came.
I didn't even know she was here.
But everything blew up
and I totally understand why.
and I'm glad I wasn't the only one
there are other ojousama desuwa vtubers that have been around for a long time but they were mostly indie vtubers and didn't get much publicity :(
EDIT: Salome definitely deserves her amazing success, I'm just responding to the OP's statement that they were hoping and wishing for an ojousama vtuber for a year. They could have searched and found some ojousama vtubers during that time :)
@@flamingspinach You're right but you can't expect people to just know them all, probably the only indie "ojou" most people ever heard of is hirasaka mei, and mainly because of that one haato stream showcasing a bunch of indies, there are thousands of pretty good and talented chuubas out there in general that we'll probably never even hear about, it's just one of the harsh realities of the medium. Salome is still a breath of fresh air regardless, and she's much more than just a desuwa spammer too

BTW I actually learned about Hirasaka Mei through her TRPG collabs with other more well known streamers like Gatchman, Mutsuu, Monoe from VOMS, etc. But that stream with Haachama was great too!
