My son had his interview in March, oath ceremony in June and started BMQ beginning of August. He is now in week 6 of BMQ and enjoying it. He joined the Air Force as an Avionics System Technician. He also did it through the Calgary recruitment centre.
AVS is a perfect trade with a specialist allowance, tell him to have some basic knowledge of electricity as well as electronics before QL3 (Basic Avionics course for 10 months in Borden) while in PAT platoon in Borden, CFSATE. It took me around 2 years for the completion of training from Apprentice to a fully qualified avionics tech.
I was embarrassed after seeing your dress for the interview, compared to what I dressed. Anyway, I am going to BMOQ in 3 weeks. Best of luck to you! Subscribed!
Brother!! I went through the Edmonton detachment last year. Passed my BMQ in St Jean, Quebec. Completed my Trade training now posted to my unit. I can answer your questions

@@Mike_Lorusso Thanks for the info! For pushups and those things is it like a cadence that you have to follow or is it just do as many as you can in a certain time limit?
@ at BMQ, the staff will make you do push-ups for almost any reason, especially mistakes for inspections. The most common minimum amount is 25. It’s not on cadence or time limit.

Hello brother, thanks for your informative videos. I have an interview coming up in 2 weeks and I was wondering if the interview is just like the normal civilian interviews and is there any advice you can give me? Thanks 🙏
The interview is nothing like a normal civilian interview. They more or less want to make sure you know what you’re getting into. Still dress nice and be at the top your game, just make sure you’re fully paying attention when they’re speaking to you. You got this!
No, and it’s not expected to be able to run a full 5K right away, just to be as close as possible. The 5K doesnt necessarily have a timing on it either as long as you do it without stopping. They will condition you to be able to do it, but get started before going so you’re not falling behind!
I have a quick question. I have a medical test and interview scheduled on the same day. In your video, I noticed you were wearing a suit, so I assume you had your medical and trade interview on the same day as well. I’m a bit confused about whether I should wear the suit right from the start, since my interview will follow the medical test. Did you have enough time to change into a suit after your medical test?
For the interview it will be much better if you really know what trade you are going for and did your extensive research in the CAF recruiting page for your trade!
The interview was straightforward. The recruiter asked me what I know about the trade I applied for. Good luck. Just did my medical and blood works. Just waiting for a call from recruiter now. As he said, applications is sent to completion lists.
I don't have the answers as to why it takes months to over a year to join, and I'm not about to throw anyone in the CAF under the bus for the lengthy process. From what I have been told from the staff in charge of my file is that there is a backlog of applications that are being dealt with. I am simply relaying the info I have been given with my videos, so don't take it as scripture. Patience is a virtue and it's something I've learned much more with this process.
from when you put an application in online how long did it take for you to get a call from a recruiter? I just put mine in like 2 weeks ago I'm getting worried lmao
That depends what you’re looking to get out of it, it also depends on whether you’re a Canadian Citizen or PR. If you’re neither of those things then you’re not eligible. For me it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
