Thank you so much for posting this! I followed your instructions....almost to the letter....to complete this task for my 1985. Oh and per Bill Malson's post, I used a guitar pick to smooth out the exterior sweep. Good call!!! Thanks again for making this task much more do-able!
At 5:49, instead of using a small screwdriver, i have always used a guitar pick. It is easy to slide underneath and gives good leverage. Overall great info!!
Thanks for the great video! It was very helpful and I was able to replace my window sweeps without issue. I was worried about drilling out the rivots, but putting the tape on the drill bit was a great tip. Thanks again for your informative video and helpful tips!
I like the plastic "rivets" idea. Thanks for the video man! 1 quick question. Did you have to enlarge the holes to put the plastic"rivets" in? Cheers! 🖖🍻
You need to make sure the holes are lined up for the retainer clips and push the middle tang down into the holes. Hammering them in straight (horizontally) like you did at first will only serve to flatten out the tang making them almost impossible to get into the holes. And dude, NEVER use metal tools on a painted car. Also, by not securing the ends and ripping apart your door seals, you'll definitely get water leaks inside the door. Every time you lift the window, the ends will come up slightly and leave a gap which will let water in. Spend the $10 bucks at Harbor Freight and get a rivet gun.
I have a 1986 Vette. What type of adhesive do you use to fasten the vapor barrier to the door panel ? Thanks for taking the time to make this video!!! Bob F.

Hey Bob, just riffin' here but I bet some mild gasket maker would work well. Permatex No.2 is non hardening so it'll stay pliable.
Bro please learn to use your tools!!!!
