- What if I told you the creators of Rugrats teamed up with McDonald's to make a cartoon series based on Ronald McDonald and all of his McDonaldland friends. The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald. It looks like Rugrats, it sounds like Rugrats, but is it anywhere close to the quality or Rugrats... or is it closer to a left out for a few days McDouble with cheese and ketchup only... Let's find out just what The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonalds is!

Thanks so much for watching! Have you ever seen this weird Rugrats looking Ronald McDonald cartoon or is this all news to you?
I first heard about the series after I watched a video covering the topic of the very rare The Monster O McDonaldland Loch Vhs which I heard was a online exclusive.
I still have each on VHS somewhere lmao what a fever dream of a series
I definitely remember this! And if you think this is nuts, check out "Duckman"
no I never watched it dude tbh
I had the first 5 and never the 6th one because I think you had to buy it off of some sort of website to get it. I loved watching these when I was 4 and didn't watch the last episode until I found it on UA-cam 7 years ago. My favorite one is the space one.
Being a poor kid in the 2000s, I cherished whatever piece of home media I could get my hands on, so sufficed to say, I loved these tapes.
Same. I only had one or two of the videos, but my cousin had them all, and I remember a period of time that every time I went over, we’d watch them all.
@@XxSherlockianHeroxX I sadly was born in 2003 and when I was growing up, they took down the McDonald's pals. I do remember growing up with just Ronald and it was pretty fun, but I would have liked to have seen those other cartoon characters as well and watched these movies. But at least they're on UA-cam now so there's that.
@@rorysainsbury6816 I was born in 2001 and in I remember when my 1st elementary had the characters come to our school and we all had McDonalds for lunch. I also remember the characterized Beanie babies. And I remember seeing reruns of this show.
@@ms.valdez5633 That's pretty cool. It would be nice if Ronald and his McDonald pals made a comeback, so kids could experience real fun and joy instead of what most corporate productions are trying to promote to us.
The happiness that Ronnie McDonnie brought me as a young kid in poverty was immense
The Ronald series was soooo good. I loved those VHS tapes!
Yessir I have all of them used to watch them all the time as a kid
same here mate
Same I adore it when I was kid
Same here! I would always watch one of the VHS that I had whenever my mom would get me McDonalds when I was little.
I used to watch this and spider-man the animated series on vhs with my cousins at my grandma’s house. Great times
I used to watch these at my grandma's all the time. She passed a few months ago, what I wouldn't do to go back to that time for just a little bit. Thanks for reminding me of these memories.
I actually really like the Ronald redesign here, he looks kinda punky with the spiky afro and the sharp eye makeup. Definitely a look
Also yeah I just remembered that we had a whole Killer Clown epidemic a few years ago. Good Times!
I like his design too. And his weird dog.
Kinda funny that we all just... Forgot about it
@matt whoop whoop
Yeah, I mean, Klasky Csupo's art style just lends itself well to clowns. Same with Gary Baseman's style
Am I the only that finds it odd that the chicken girl is just fine with large embodiments of a processed meat version of her simply walking around?
I think she’s either a canary or just a generic yellow bird.
@@nostaldec4705 If so it's pure cannibalism.
It doesn’t matter what bird it is, it’s canabalism.
@@okjeffy6581 So it's cannibalism when humans eat other mammals?
@@nostaldec4705 I hear she is the "early bird" and promoted the new at the time breakfast menu many decades back.
I know there just essentially advertisements, but I love this series, its very charming and I have so many fond memories of watching it.
born in '98 and I remember mcdonalds of the early 2000s! they still had their characters all over the walls and it made the restaurant feel more fun and homey as a kid.
Oh hey I’m a ‘98 kid too 😜
From what I remember, the reason that Ronald is no longer associated with the food aspect of McDonalds was something to do with the Ronald McDonald House Charites side of things and wanting Ronald to solely be a mascot for the charity.
I tell you this show is buried deep within my subconscious. I don't know why it's stuck like it is, but this immediately brings me back to my childhood in my grandparents seemingly giant basement watching these on an ancient TV.
I was always a little creeped out by this as a kid by these cartoons when they’d show them at play places or at birthday’s (they had a tv they showed them sometimes), and the idea of a slide that turns you into a cartoon added to that for me
Oh man, the memories! I had a few of these tapes as a kid, and I remember watching them constantly, almost to the point of putting strain on our poor VCR XD
This I definitely remember as a kid
You could only get the vhs tapes at McDonald’s and for some reason, my local store never got the last tape and it’s haunted me forever
I spent years asking every time I went to McDonald’s if they had it.
I assumed it was just never actually made for a lot of years.
The reason is because they never released. It was made though and it was eventually uploaded to UA-cam. In fact, you can find all of the episodes there.
Mine never had the last two and I did the same thing for years
@@troykawahara4496 it was released, but only online. Since the internet was limited at the time, there was like 1 sold (that we know of) thats where we got the rips of the vhs.
Jake Depkey had been Ronald McDonald since the early 80s (most iconic MCD commericals feature him), so it was either contract dispute or it was just time to move on (at that point, nearly 20 years as ONE Character had to get tiring).
While I was in High School when these were coming out, my twin sisters were the perfect age for it and we watched it a ton of times (though most K-C shows were the only ones where all three of us could watch something and not fight over the controller)
I still have these on VHS, not all of them but most of them and I loved them so so much
I LOVED these cartoons as a kid! I had them all on VHS. Never realized the Rugrats connections!
I still hold a special place in my heart for these specials. i remember owning The Legend of Grimace Island VHS growing up and it still a good watch to this day. it's nothing completely mind blowing but it's still good.
Love that you covered this! We had all the vhs tapes back in the day, it took me way too long in life to remember this wasn't some sort of fever dream and actually existed. 😂
I will forever have a place in my heart for this series. Watched them all so many times as a kid. Especially Scared Silly. Thanks for covering this series!
Keep up the great content Jordan. Have a great day!
I actually have two of these odd VHS episodes of this Ronald McDonald cartoon thing. They were the Pirate themed episode and the Space Themed episode.
These are actually part of my childhood. Thanks for doing this.
I have the vhs tapes!! This cartoon lives in my mind rent free!! I can't believe you made a video about it. Thank you so much for this!
The Wacky Adventure of Ronald McDonald: Scared Silly was my favorite! I play “Farflung Forest” and “Set Up Camp” for my two-year-old still. They’re fun songs and I’m happy to see these get some attention
I remember being so excited when we’d get these VHS tapes! My grandmother drove us to every Mcdonalds in the city to find them when they sold out!
I'm glad you finally covered TWAORM. As a kid, I didn't know this fact despite growing up watching the Rugrats and The Wacky Adventures of Donald McDonald but now I noticed the animation and sound effects gave it away when watching them again. My favorite episode had to be Grimace Island although that and the birthday episode were the only episodes I've watched growing up. Rewatching the whole series last year, it's still a fun but weird series to watch.
you truly help me realize my childhood memories aren't fever dreams 😂 though I was fully aware of this series (I still have 2 of them on VHS) its nice to know other people are haunted by these strange creations 😂
I loved watching those VHS tapes when I was little!! I never got to get the space themed tape or the final tape, but I did have the rest of them and I would watch them whenever my mom would get me McDonalds to eat.
"The grimace population."
So is grimace a race ? So Grimace is just named after his race ? It's like if I named myself Human.
Also I remember seeing an episode of this, but I have no idea where I would have seen it.
Meatcanyon
Yes and their enemies are the Mr. Munch species of Chuck E. cheese's
Someday I’d like to see Jordan do an episode on the Secret Show. I watched it on Nicktoons when I was a kid and then never heard of it ever again. All I really remember is the awesome theme song…
Ba da dwee daa da!
When I had Dish, one of the channels was a variant of NickToons and it ran Secret Show, Kappa Mikey, El Tigre, and a few others i cant remember
Good to know some one else remembers it
You always seem to pick the best ones at the best times. I actually thought for what they were and although they could be a little creepy they were pretty decent with the animation quality especially for a free giveaway. Pretty sure I still have a few of them around on VHS somewhere
IT DOES EXIST!!! I have had flashbacks to this cartoon all my adult life like this was a wierd fever dream of a cartoon and nobody I asked seemed to remember it. But thank you for proving my sanity!
i was just telling my wife about these the other day! it's surprising how well these actually hold up, they put some genuine talent into it and i still find these shorts really fun to watch! the first one was always my favorite, i absolutely ate up anything haunted house themed as a kid
Fun Fact:Jordan Fringle is the Greatest youtuber on this platform
I have so much nostalgia for this show! I got all of the VHS tapes when I was a kid and would watch them all the time. I had completely forgot about them until a few years ago when they randomly popped back into my head. I found a few of them on UA-cam so every now and them i rewatch them for a hit of that sweet nostalgia.
I loved this series when I was little! That is some nostalgia. Man, Klasky Csupo was so prolific back in the day. I miss these kind of cartoons.
I remember watching the first one, Scared Silly, a lot when I was a kid. I really enjoyed it. Never did get around to watching the others, though. Surprisingly, I never the dots between this and Rugrats.
Scared Silly was a classic, lot of great songs too, whenever I go on a trip I can't help but sing There's Nothing Like the Great Outdoors song.
Jordan: Will we ever see these characters again?
Me watching this as the adult happy meal is being sold: 👀
Never clicked on an episode so quick! I'm glad someone else also remembers this VHS series fondly. Scared Silly and Birthday World are still 2 of the best films that I can quote, lol.
I think the Rugrats design on Ronald McDonald is the best design in the whole show.
The Ronald McDonalds cartoon and movies haunt the deepest halls of my memory chambers
Omg, I remember owning the VHS tapes as a kid. I had one episode and I remember being around 4 and always hiding from the Klasky Studios mascot. It just creeped me out.
It creeped me out too one time.
You just opened a old memory , gosh Me and my sis would you play that one VHS we got for days!
I remember seeing advertisments for these VHS Ronald McDonad cartoons, but never actually watched them as a kid. I also like how the Hamburgelar's design looks similar to Chuckie. Some of the Rugrats similarites are pretty strong in this series!
This was a great cartoon. Never knew the Rugrats creators made it. Makes sense. Used to own the Halloween and pirate episodes.
Edit: I found the apparent proper pronunciation of Klasky Csupo:
Klasky-Csupo, Inc.
(pronounced "Class-key Chew-po", although commonly mistaken as "Class-key Ka-zoo-po") is a multimedia entertainment production company.
The gibberish that the weird, demented SpongeBob-like creature that appeared in the logo was just saying the company’s name…in a really creepy robot voice.
I don't know how, but I remembered this! I think I kept watching it as a three year old or either a four year old. My mom got the VHS tapes since I wasn't born until 1999.
The one that I watched constantly was the time travel 2D, but it was 'have time will travel'
I remember this. As a kid, I had been saving money to buy the "Have time will travel" tape. I had no idea that this show was made by the creators of Rugrats!
I went and watched the Grimace Island episode a couple months ago. Things just kept escalating and never slowed down and never bothered to justify *why*, it was somehow the funniest thing I’d ever seen in that moment and I laughed to the point of tears.
Was not expecting Clussy reference. Nice.
10/10.
I loved Gabor csupos movie bridge to terabithia, that movie made me cry when it first came out in 2007, but it is still my favorite movie of all time
I had the VHS of all the episodes. I honestly really enjoyed them as a kid. The Klasky-Csupo art style is so nostalgic to look back on.
Oh, you just unlocked a core memory for me, Jordan. Thank you for covering this! For the longest time, I honestly thought I imagined this series of tapes, because it felt like nobody else remembered them but me. I remember getting the Scared Silly one when I was around 7-8, and for some reason at that age I was able to figure out that it was created by Klasky Csupo (the animation and the musical cues helped, as did the fact that they used Mark Mothersbaugh for the score, since he did the music for Rugrats, Wild Thornberrys, etc.)
I'm so happy to find such a high quality video on these VHS's, I loved them soo much as a kid
Oh man. I had the first 4 of these. Didn't know about the other two until a few years ago. But I used to watch them all the time. Especially birthday world and the space one with hamburglar
Wow, great timing. This was posted like 3 days before McDonald’s started the McDonald’s Camp Promotion that kicked off with grimace merch. Great videos my friend!
This is probably your best video yet, you’ve come so far in video making keep it up man!
Charlie Adler ALSO voiced Cow on the show "Cow And Chicken" As soon as I heard it, that was the FIRST show I thought about lol.
I know him as the voice of Starscream in the live-action Transformers movies.
I had these as a kid. We got the scared silly tape when I saw it in a McDonald's, and then I was hooked. The thing that confused my my small child brain was the ad for the space one said "coming in 1999," and it was already 1999. I would ask my mom "when is it going to be 1999," and she'd say "it is 1999." The thing that further confused me was the ad for Grimace Island also said "coming in 1999" and I already had it. I used to watch them all the time, and always wondered when the Legend of McDonald Land Loch was going to come out, and only 10is years later did I learn it never had a wide release and was impossible to find. Then 15ish years later I'm google it and a copy was found and ripped online, and now I'm like 20 and watching this 40 minute advertisement for children in my dorm room unironically.
This absolutely resurfaced some memories for me. I had a couple of the tapes, gifts from grandparents, and I loved them. Also I didn’t know they actually retired Ronald, that’s interesting. RIP the clown.
i mean it makes sense. Clowns were slowly becoming something that was creepy, rather than the sources of joy and laughter they were meant to be. Infamously creepy clowns like Sweettooth, Pennywise and The Joker certainly didn't help either. Media was slowly painting them as weird something creepy ir scary, and the clown killers were the final nail in the coffin.
Not just that but the fact that Animatronics are being phased out aswell.
I recently rewatched these episodes with my girlfriend, she wanted to show me these old shows, and it’s great to see it being brought to light lol Great work as always Mr Fringe
Fun Fact: Christine kavanagh also did the voice of Chuckie AS WELL as Oblina in AHHH! Real Monsters, that's another fun connection.
I like AHHH! Real Monsters 🙂
Had all the VHS tapes of this show. I'll never forget the one scene where Grimace was too heavy for a horse so he put it on his back and ran at the same pace as the rest of the gang who were on horses.
Dude said “I am the horse”
When you realize this series of tapes was Christine Cavanaugh's last voice acting performance
My buddy just bought the 5 VHS tapes at a garage sale. I only really remember scared silly but knew about the others vaguely
Whoaaaaa, I have a few LEGO pieces in a pile from my youth and Ronald’s face is on one, it must’ve been from a happy meal.
Some stuff from this show lives in my head, I saw it so much as a child. I still think of his giant burger bed, or in the alien episode where hamburgler asks what's being thrown at the McDonald's ship in panic, and the alien just nonchalantly says "... Sprinkles."
I loved these movies! We had two VHS tapes and we watched them at least twice a week
I think I had at least 3 of these growing up, the one I remember the most even to this day was the camping one
I remember these being very approachable to watch as a kid because of the familiar art style. It worked!
I remember these tapes and they were weird but I have a soft spot for them.
Yooo, I remember I had the "Birthday World" vhs as a kid and watched it religiously! And I randomly remembered this existed like, a few days ago!🤣
Ah my childhood! My grandma got me the scared silly vhs tape, I watched it nonstop. XD
That damn grimace island song has been stuck in my damn head for nearly 2 decades
When I was a kid I got every single one of these tapes, and the grimace island video instilled a lifelong fear of whirlpools. When I played wind waker years later, the giant octorocks would scare me to the point I had to stop playing. GREAT STUFF
Remember renting this from the library as a kid
Yay ive been waiting for this one! Thanks JF!
NOOO NOT THE GEIRU REFERENCE
surprised you didn't talk about how the last episode was lost until only like 3 years ago, great video!
So glad I'm not the only one who remembers these fondly
There's also McDonalds game for the Genesis, and it's actually considered really good. Basically, developer Treasure just took this very colorful IP and did some really nice gameplay.
I freaking loved this show as a kid although never realized it was made by the creators of the Rugrats
That deep cut of Wesley Willis rock n roll McDonalds! i literally just found that song a month ago lol.
I love the Ronald McDonald Whacky adventure series! So many wonderful memories. I was very happy to collect these tapes in my middle school years. I even had a screen crush on Tika! She may have not been on too many of the tapes, really she was just in the first episode and the fourth one but she was very clever and creative and I really dug her whacky hairstyle and her hula hoop earrings. This is why those two videos were my favorites, they also had some of the best songs. I enjoyed the other videos a lot too though!
I had these videos! Straight up a lost memory, forced back into my brain. Thus why i love this channel
THANK YOU! NO ONE TALKS ABOUT THESE! I bought these through the mcd drive through, and scared silly was my favorite OBV. such a great voice cast, and an absolute treasure of a memory. I actually really like it because it looked just like rocket power/wild thornberrys so it just felt right!
One thing that I like about this series was it's design of McDonaldland. The designs of the building look like the old play places that they used to have in the restaurants. Man, I miss those things!
Thank god somebody talked about this I own three episodes of this on VHS. I watched it all the time when I was a child. My favorite episode was "Scared Silly".
BRO. I had every single one of these on VHS and I watched them all the time before I got to middle school. They were quite trippy, my boy.
I remember watching the space episode all the time as a kid and I absolutely loved it. Thank you so much for reminding me of this
I had the grimace one as a kid. Man, that takes me back. I miss how fun McDonalds used to be. Now, it's just corporatized and professional. But that's the meta, I guess.
I currently have all those McDonald's VHS tapes 🤙
I remember being a kid and seeing ads for the shows. I did want to see them but then forgot all about them. I kinda want to watch them now.
Yes! My brother and I got these as soon as they came out and watched them endlessly.
Had 5 of the 6 videos growing up myself (I guess my local McDonald's never sold the last one) and I love watching them all the time, though I suspect if I saw them now I would think I would be on something.
so Klasky is the reason the 90s and early thousands on TV across the board was so creative.
i swear i was filming a video about some halloween mcdonalds toys and i mentioned the scared silly tape and i was doing that at the exact same time u uploaded this. freaky. great video!! i like the style of these but im also just a sucker for old mcdonalds propaganda.
I loved these movies! And they were done so well and good stories
Talk about a blast from the past. I'm pretty sure I still have the camping/haunted house episode VHS in a box of old VHS's in my basement
I remember having if not all then most of these tapes as a kid. I watched them so much they broke. Good stuff.
I loved this fever dream of a series. I still have the camping road trip song stick in my head.
My step brother had those VHS, we watched em a few times, I had honestly forgotten they existed until this, so thanks for that.
I had these videos as a kid. Never new the last on existed. I know my mom tried to find out if there were more, but it seemed like the time travel one was the last one. But apparently there was a Loch Ness Monster episode I never heard about. That's hilarious.
