Ok so here me out. George Lucas was a complete fucking moron who couldn't write good stuff to save his life. Like the Disney Star Wars or not they did make better and more fight scenes and space battle scenes while George Lucas was dumber than a dipstick and more confusing than an Italian car like who puts the battery under the engine so if you ever need a jump you have to take the engine apart?!
First off it wasn’t palpatine who wanted her dead. It was nute gunray. Dooku was the one who ordered her assassination. Palpatine took measures to make sure she WASNT killed. And count dooku couldn’t do it because the attention would be focused on him and he was still focused on hiding himself to build his separatist movement at them time so yes it makes sense that he hires someone else. Also jango fett said he wanted the assassination to be quiet so yes it makes sense that he hires someone that uses toxic bugs to do the job. So yea before clinging to this air head, maybe pay attention. His entire video on the prequels is one big dumpsterfire
I read a news article like this. An Asian businessman hires a hittman for something like 200k to kill a rival. 200k hires someone else to do it for 100k because he doesn't want the risk involved. 100k hires someone else for 50k for the same reason. 50k hires someone for 20k, and 20k is so insulted by his contract he tells the target to fake his death. They all get caught.
Don't wanna be that guy buuuuuut WELL ACKSHUALLY... Palpatine did end up killing Padme. Just off-screen... He was draining her life force during a Dark Side ritual while Vader was in his cybernetic surgery to keep him sustained, hence why the medical droids couldn't explain why they were losing her, why she's "lost the will to live." Her being Force Choked by Anakin had nothing to do with dying, it was just a bonus for Palpatine to easily manipulate and make him think that it did. So this fact just makes the video even more funny, Palpatine went through all that trouble but in the end he did it himself anyway, just from a distance, while of course lying to a newborn Darth Vader who would've crushed his windpipe if he ever knew.
Right. And the shapeshifter fell into enemy hands so she couldn't be left alive to reveal critical information even if Padme were killed. She became the new target, and they certainly couldn't risk attempting to kill Padme again AFTER the shapeshifter either
Ehhhh. The more people involved in a plot the more likely either someone screws up or it gets revealed. Jango should’ve done it himself. After the ship exploded, there’s no way you would kill her without raising suspicion so really should’ve just shot her through the head.
@@811chelseafc that’s not how it works. The more people equals more potential fuck ups only applies when you enlarge the operation. What we have here are degrees of separation. The further removed you are from the assassination, the less likely you are to get caught down the road.
Jango had to cover his tracks. He couldn’t risk letting the Jedi interrogate Zam and finding out he hired her, which would lead to them interrogating _him_ and learning about Count Dooku’s hand in the operation. Of course, in his decision to use a Kaminoan saberdart laced with a fast-acting toxin to eliminate Zam, he inadvertently led the Jedi right to his base of operations, as he didn’t anticipate that Obi-Wan would have a non-Jedi friend (Dexter Jettster) who could identify that the poison dart was from a certain planet (Kamino) that had been carefully erased from the Jedi Temple’s cartographic records.
Ethier that, or it was the way to lead the Jedi to Kamino, without involving any of the interogation part. Considering Dooku deleted it from the archives, and the Jedi had to be guided there somehow
The Jedi needed to *organically* discover the clone army and Palpatine needed an above-board way to get it in control of the Senate. Leading the breadcrumbs to Kamino was a necessary part of the plan. But also Palps needed a middle-man in the off-chance that Fett was captured and interrogated. That middle-man was Dooku.
@@Johnnystammy no, the kaminoan dart would have to be intentional so as to lead the Jedi (and thus the Senate) to the clone army *just in time* for the Separatists to start the war.
@@fuckthisstupidasshandleshit He didn't really, at least we do not know that he did. The assassination of padme was pushed by Nute Gunray the leader of the trade federation from the first film. in Attack of the clones when Obi-wan is spying on a meeting between Dooku and Gunray he is saying "What about the Senator from Naboo? Is she dead yet? I’m not signing your treaty until I have her head on my desk." so the actual motivation for the assassination was a deal between Dooku and Gunray to get him to join the confederacy. At this point they were not actually officially aliened yet. Now we do not know palatines involvement in okaying this deal, but the deal itself was between Dooku and Gunray, and palatine did need the trade federation to join with the other separatists so that they would add to the still being built droid army. So for the first assassination attempt it's kinda unclear if palatine even had any involvement as he was basically just telling dooku to get the separatists together and to lead them to war. And it's certainly possible that in his efforts to do so dooku just ordered the assassination as a means to that end. What we do know is that after that attempts failed Palatine himself recommended that obi-wan one of the best jedi knights around at this point and Anakin the chosen one who he is already targeting with his influence, be the ones that protect her and thus pretty damn well ensures she won't be killed. on top of that is also leads to obi-wans investigation that discovers the clones just in time for the vote on the military creation act to come down and palatine being given the emergency power to create and use the army. so in total this plot was helping bring the sepratits to full power with Gunray joining dooku and the others, had the clones discovered, pushed the republic to vote to give palatine the power to use them to make an army and basically start the wars. And also brought padme and Anakin close together which would be a huge point of influence over Anakin that palatine would lean on over the years.
@talpho3301 you know the original trilogy had shit like this you could nitpick right, like why did they freeze Han in carbonate and not just kill him if they knew he was gonna be a problem later, George Lucas has always written like this

It sounds funny due to Cosmo's eccentric voice but he's deliberately removed context. Like it's overly complicated when you focus on just Jango's plan, just diss that.
@@aaronrodgers7579no, just moronic viewers. Palpatine doesn’t want Padmé dead. Nute Gunray wants her dead, that’s his demand to joins the separatists. So Dooku, needing to preserve his reputation hires Jango, the head of a bounty hunters guild to kill her, who in turn assigns the job to Zam. @@es3grimz217That makes no sense either lmao, so this dude who wanted her alive, paid someone to kill her, but drew up the most outrageous plan in existence so that they’d fail? Why didn’t he just hire Jango to give her a scare or miss on purpose or something, she was literally seconds away from dying lol
@@spacecadet4191 Complicated? Yeh, but not due to Palp's plan. It was all Jango. As far as Palps knew, Jango agreed to do the mission, and he knew it wouldn't be done because Anakin or Obi would have stopped it. He didn't ask Dooku to ask Jango to ask his friend to do it. It was Jango that made it complicated because of the increase in security. Anakin and Obi would've sense killing intent from either bounty hunter, so a robot seemed logical to use, but then R2 would have scanned the Droid, so the worms were used to to their small size and poison. But even with that in mind, Anakin still sensed something wrong and jumped in. Jango also wanted to separate himself from it and only followed to clean it up after it failed.
Audience: “isn’t this supposed to be about Darth Vader?” George: “WE’LL GET THERE WHEN WE GET THERE!!” Edit: woah I honestly didn’t expect this many likes, thanks guys!
if palpatine decided to pursue anakin before episode two, anyone know what is strategy was to turn anakin when deciding to kill padme straight up? instead of convincing anakin he could save her to turn him to the dark side?
@@camdenprime5430 In Star wars Revenge Of The Sith (ROTS), on the Musufar planet scene when Padme tries to talk Anakin out of the Darkside he ends up force choking her making her unconscious which would later lead to her dying when she gave birth to Luke and Leai.
I think the logic of the plan is supposed to be. Palpatine is a fellow senator so he can’t do it himself. Dooku is a rep for the separatist so can’t do it himself. Jango maybe saw the Jedi protecting her so he opted to split the bounty with the shapeshifter for her help. The shapeshifter wanted a discreet way to kill Padme that didn’t implicate herself. So she sends the droid. Then when she fails Jango kills her so she doesn’t give up any evidence. While all that could be explainable. It’s still an overly convoluted chain of events that George Lucas could have definitely simplified
i feel like palpatine could certainly do it himself without implicating himself given his iq. Or at least come up with a plan that doesn’t involve such progression of events. But i ahree
Except the fckin dart used to kill the shapeshifter leads DIRECTLY to Kamino and Jango Fett. When the "greatest bounty hunter of them all"™ COULD HAVE JUST SHOT THE SHAPESHIFTER!
@@floricel_112 it leads the jedi to the clone army that palpatine had created in secret to be led by the jedi in the war he was setting up, jango also led the jedi to geonosis where they found the seperatist army which gave the republic reason to allow the clone army to be used by the jedi in an attack, jango literally led the jedi to everything they needed to start the war that palpatine was trying to start. sounds intentional.
Actually this is all wrong. Palpatine never tells dooku to go kill padme. Its nute gunray. Later in the geonosis scenes gunray says that he won’t sign the treaties until padme is dead, which is why dooku planned the whole execution ceremony for padme and the jedi
Ya I didn't catch that when I was younger but I rewatched the prequels recently and noticed alot of stuff similar to this; where it seems like its badly written or over the top theatrics but really its Palpatine pulling the strings. Rewatching them really gives an idea of how much is going on behind the scenes to manipulate Anakin. Wild stuff, I think the prequels are seriously underrated
I mean, Jango didn’t really have the opportunity to kill her after the bugs failed. The security was called and she would have troops around her immediately. She is a senator and former Queen of Naboo. There was already an attack on her life. If Jango went after her, he would only expose himself. Better to cut of any loose ends. And Abraham said, “loose ends make my ass itch.”
I mean… he basically exposed himself anyway by killing the shapeshifter in full view of the Jedi. I also don’t think it would make much difference if people saw Jango attack/ kill padme. Obi wan figures out Jango is the bounty Hunter immediately anyway.
@@thewerewolff7248 yes, although there would have been higher risks evolving padme. Security could have been around when Jango arrives. Or maybe she wouldn't even be there. His best bet was to cut lose ends, if you let an loose end your enemy will strangle you with it. So tie 'em up is best option. Although has you pointed earlier little did Jango know he was face to face with one of the main characters

The hitman that attempted the hit was some guy who was paid $500 and was caught almost immediately and every hitman was soon captured after
Let's not forget that, instead of the robot blowing itself up or leading Anakin and Obi-Wan in the wrong direction, it goes straight to Zam, who, instead of trying to blend in with the likely millions of other flying cars or ditching her vehicle and, you know, shape-shifting (which they didn't know she could do yet), she flies around like an alcoholic student pilot after happy hour. Then, instead of trying to exit the club while Obi-Wan is sitting there chilling, she tries to sneak up on one of the guys who detected a couple of irate centipedes without even being in the room.

Jango killing his bounty Hunter made sense. She was literally about to spill the beans. She was just a few syllables away from saying his name. And once they heard his name they would have figured out it was Dooku that sent Jango in the first place.
And also, Padme’s security definitely would have been increased after the failed assassination. Jango taking out Zam Wessel was a better choice because there would be less witnesses, so he would have had a better chance of not being traced back to Kamino.
@@jacobcampbell4011 Palpatine didn't care for Padmé to die actually. He wanted to set the Jedi on the right track to discover the clone army on Kamino. This is the only thing this was all about, and he needed to convince them that they stumbled upon / find out about them themselves through investigation.
@@PeGeProd but did Jango know this? As far as I'm aware, the only thing Jango was told was that he was being hired to kill padme, not being hired to fake an assassination on her and then lead the jedi back to kamino
@@jacobcampbell4011 It's not definitely stated, but think of it this way: Jango has a free shot at both the Jedi and Zam Wesell and a rocket launcher on his back. Instead of using that one, ensuring that there would be no witnesses left behind, he instead fires a Kaminoan saber dart which can incidentally be traced back to Kamino and the clone army, killing just Zam and leaving the Jedi with evidence to further investigate. Also, after the failed first attempt on Padmé's life (because she used a body double, something that somebody as close to her as Palpatine could've predicted), the chancellor has a perfect reason to insist on more protection for Padmé. He is even the one to suggest Obi-Wan for the job. In the words of Admiral Yularen: things are falling into place a little to perfectly for it to be one big coincidence/a string of failures. Especially if you keep in mind that Palpatine needs the Jedi to find the clone army soon-ish, or else there will be no war outbreak. That being said: it's entirely possible that Jango did not know that he and Zam were being set up (then again, he had been instructed to remove her from the equation apparently). But as we know, Palpatine has more knowledge on this whole thing than anybody else, because not only can he use the Force to foresee the future, but he is also playing both sides of the conflict during the Clone Wars. It's also worth mentioning that it's Jango who gives Zam the venomous bugs. It's very likely that this was a suggestion by Palpatine or Dooku, knowing that this would set off the Jedis' instincts for danger, but also leaving them enough time to react to it.
For the record, Palpatine didn't actually necessarily want Padmé dead. He wanted her to he in danger to have a valid reason for Anakin to spend time with her.

This plot point is more accurately described this way: Palpatine needs Padme away from the senate so he can manipulate a vote, but he can’t be seen as responsible for this because it has bad implications. To avoid this he puts dooku, a trusted ally who he isn’t immediately associated with, in charge of scaring her off or killing her. Dooku is willing organiza an assassination but lacks the skill set so he hires Jango, a person with the recourses and expertise to do the job. Jango is very capable of doing the job but he wants to reduce risk to himself so he hires an alien shape shifter who’s innate abilities make it easier to infiltrate and significantly harder to be identified. After a failed attempt that gives the target Jedi body guards the shape shifter has to use a droid to perform a second attempts because the Jedi would sense her if she got too close. Essentially what we saw here were to masterminds put degrees of separation between themselves and a criminal act, a spy master hire an underling beter suited to a task, and an underling using a unconventional weapon to deal with an unwanted variable.

But, he left a dart there, which was traced back to him. So he might as well have let the shapeshifter rat him out. Or he could have hired a third assassin to take care of the shapeshifter while he killed Padmé.

If Padme died properly then Anakin would get so pissed off especially from not being able to find out who killed his love at all he would straight up be torn apart and turn straight into the dark side more powerful than ever but nope that failed assassination lead to the wars happening too quickly and nothing was set up properly and everything ruined.
Its not like they were that far off to begin with. They knew that they were trying to kill Padme. And, by killing her, Jango pretty much gave away that there was something more than her to the plot. That's how Obi-Wan discovers the whole clone planet. Its needlessly convoluted

And yet the dart does it anyway. He could have used a blaster, they're everywhere and don't leave much to trace because they don't leave anything solid and the wound is too common. Instead he uses his custom made darts that lead the jedi right to his hotel room at the top secret cloning facility.

This is a high level play. Because even if you captured the assailant, she'd give up her boss Jango, then you'd have to capture and break Jango which would be near impossible and even if you do manage to, it would lead back to Dooku and if they managed to capture Dooku, they would not be able to break him because Dooku knows that there is nothing they could do that would compare to what Palpatine would do if Dooku gave him up.
Palpetine never wanted Padme gone until after he used her to turn Anakin. The idea to kill Padme was nute gunray and Dooku agreed to appease him and get the Jedi looking into it so they’d discover their clone army

ZAM😍😍 SHE 12??
Ethier that, or it was the way to lead the Jedi to Kamino, without involving any of the interogation part. Considering Dooku deleted it from the archives, and the Jedi had to be guided there somehow
The Jedi needed to *organically* discover the clone army and Palpatine needed an above-board way to get it in control of the Senate. Leading the breadcrumbs to Kamino was a necessary part of the plan.
But also Palps needed a middle-man in the off-chance that Fett was captured and interrogated. That middle-man was Dooku.
So his mistake was having too fancy a taste in exotic weapons?
@@Johnnystammy no, the kaminoan dart would have to be intentional so as to lead the Jedi (and thus the Senate) to the clone army *just in time* for the Separatists to start the war.

@@Yeagerbonebone yea but palpatine needed to kill her bc gunray wouldn’t help with the droid army unless padme was dead
it actually was, palpatine is literally the one who suggested that her jedi guards be "an old friend like master Kenobi" and by association anakin.
@@NBE21 Then why did he order Padmé's assassination?

As far as Palps knew, Jango agreed to do the mission, and he knew it wouldn't be done because Anakin or Obi would have stopped it. He didn't ask Dooku to ask Jango to ask his friend to do it. It was Jango that made it complicated because of the increase in security. Jango maybe saw the Jedi protecting her so he opted to split the bounty with the shapeshifter for her help. The shapeshifter wanted a discreet way to kill Padme that didn’t implicate herself.

Funfact they get killed of in the reversed order
The bugs, the robot, the shapeshifter, Jango, Count Doku, Palpatine
😮
This plot point is more accurately described this way:
Palpatine needs Padme away from the senate so he can manipulate a vote, but he can’t be seen as responsible for this because it has bad implications.
I'm so fucking Glad somebody else understood this 😂
And if the robot had shot Padmé instead of sending bugs, she'd have died. Anakin only sensed the bugs

He didn’t even want Padme dead here, he just needed a way to get Anakin to spend a lot of time with her so he’d get super attached to her
Just FYI, it wasn’t Palpatine that wanted Padme dead. It was Nute Gunray. It was one of his conditions for joining the Separatists. So he asked Count Dooku to kill her, who got Jango Fett to do it, and he realized that A) it was too tough a job for one bounty hunter; and B) that if he had another bounty hunter do it for him, it would be harder for the assassination it be traced back to Count Dooku. @@georgec9384 Not really. In real life, this is how the best manipulators get shit done. They use proxies to hire others so they can't be immediately connected or implicated. Should have just rigged the Droid to bash through the window and explode.
@@SefniAsheforr Jango wasn’t inept, he was executing Palpatine’s plan. Palpatine never wanted to kill Padme (as he had to use her to influence Anakin to turn the Dark side), his plan was to lead the Jedi to discover Kamino.
If you don’t believe me, tell me this, why would Jango use a traceable dart to kill Zam, when he could’ve sniped her out cold with a blaster? Jango outsourcing the job to Zam and then having her use a droid to deliver the bugs was all planned as well. Think about it, why didn’t the droid leave after delivering the bugs? Also why did the droid conveniently carry Obi Wan back to Zam? It’s all planned! Zam was obviously a stooge, as she wouldn’t have gone through with the plan if she knew it would lead to her death. Palpatine instigated all of this the whole time through Jango, and in a way that goes completely under the noses of the Jedi.
The prequels are genius, people just don’t understand them so they just hate on them.
AND THEN AFTER ALL THAT PADME'S HUSBAND/BOYFRIEND GOT SCARED OF PADME DYING AND HE TURNED TO THE DARK SIDE AND AFTER TALKING TO PADME, HE KILLED HER 😂😂😂
It's as if Jango's actual goal is to lure Kenobi to Kamino and discover the Clone Army
Shhhhh you’ll awaken the prequel haters
If that was the case why wasn't kamino in the jedi archives, and why did he use a dart that's so rare and niche that not even the droids the jedi had were able get information on it? What if Obi wan didn't have a prospector friend who knew about the dart?
That seems like a really dumb and overcomplicated way to get him there, though.
@@bobhill6561 that's the thing, imo it's all done through reverse psychology. The mastermind behind this event (Palpatine) knows that Kenobi is a thorough man, he would investigate any anomaly he come into contact with (in this case the absence of Kamino from the database and special dart). I believe Palps also know that Kenobi is a well-connected man, which pairs very well with his curious nature. This is where Dex comes in.
Btw, it doesnt have to be Kenobi specifically, but I believe that Palps know that somebody with the right attributes will play into his hands eventually.
That, and Palps is a man of theatrics, he enjoys drawing the intricate plot.
@@nicholausedwardwijaya8822 wouldn't he have investigated Kamino and the dart anyways by virtue of the fact that it involves an assassination attempt? It just seems, wiping Kamino out of the archives makes it less likely for that to happen
The reason jango went to kill the shape shifter instead of padme was to make sure that the shape shifter wouldn’t confess his name to anakin and obi wan once they had found her

@@ludwigvangaming1822yeah plus he just got a new kid he could find another job
But, he left a dart there, which was traced back to him. So he might as well have let the shapeshifter rat him out. Or he could have hired a third assassin to take care of the shapeshifter while he killed Padmé.
He used a specially designed dart which ended up causing himself to be found out leading to his death and the Jedi destroying the droid army that was being built to conquer the galaxy and his secret army being found out 5 to 10 years too soon. All the 10,000 year old plans ruined because of that failed assassination. If Padme died properly then Anakin would get so pissed off especially from not being able to find out who killed his love at all he would straight up be torn apart and turn straight into the dark side more powerful than ever but nope that failed assassination lead to the wars happening too quickly and nothing was set up properly and everything ruined.
It's almost like the shapeshifter was gonna spill the beans on who hired jango and possibly lead to obi wan and anakin uncovering it all.
Its not like they were that far off to begin with. They knew that they were trying to kill Padme. And, by killing her, Jango pretty much gave away that there was something more than her to the plot. That's how Obi-Wan discovers the whole clone planet. Its needlessly convoluted
@@felipesalas6389Except obi wan discovering the clone planet wasn't an issue at all for their plans.
@@Oznerock So then you're telling me that Palpatine's whole plan to get the Clone Army to the Jedi was Obi-Wan relying on one contact he likely didn't knew about to lead him to a planet where a Jedi that died years earlier ordered a Clone army and none of that raised any alarms for Obi-Wan or any of the Jedi?
And yet the dart does it anyway. He could have used a blaster, they're everywhere and don't leave much to trace because they don't leave anything solid and the wound is too common. Instead he uses his custom made darts that lead the jedi right to his hotel room at the top secret cloning facility.
