a gunsmith at the local gun shop was taking a look at my 1942 colt 1911a1 because it has some interesting parts installed, see i bought it at another gun shop in the area for 300$ as it had ben polished and charcoal blued with fire blued small parts witch according to the clerk had rendered it practically worthless so i bought it lol. and it came with a shoe box that after some research turned out to be all its original gi internals, barrel bushing and a micro adj rear sight and 3 two tone mags. it was polished and fitted with a colt contract nm barrel and bushing, and as the gunsmith was disassembling it he noticed the trigger was a hand made one off custom made unit along with the fixed sights that had ben fitted.and after looking everything over he told me the work was top notch and probably done up by an aamu gunsmith for the national match at camp perry.. he told me that 300$ was like getting it for free almost and said ide have no problem making my money back by selling the 3 two tone mags it came with!. and he was correct! its interesting seeing all the details as you explain and show how that work is done now days..a full custom overhaul is not cheap at all! i got lucky!
