*You are a blessed man David! It was very special seeing the love you have for your family in this video.* Your channel has the potential to blow up to be one of the most successful new family sailing channels on YT. Your content is powerfully entertaining because of your humor, wit, grit, hard work, balls, no fear attitude, adorable kids, *sweet & smart wife,* awesome editing skills, etc. and I hope you find a solution for the one thing that is holding you back from YT success…not posting regularly. Perhaps you can temporarily hire a video editor to help your backlog…I’m sure you’ll appreciate YT earnings coming in before your savings runs out. Hope you figure it out. Can’t wait to see more and wishing you all the best!
thanks for this comment. it hits close to home. we want to make this work so bad and yes, the consistency is killing us as we manage a million other things in life (mainly the 4 kids.) i won't give up until i figure it out though. THanks for sticking with us!
Aw thanks Marie! I second David’s comment about wanting this to work so bad. I quit my job a year ago so we are 100% in on making this work. If not, it’s back to the corporate world. 🙁 Thanks so much for watching!
The good news is that you will have a great boat, and you won't be intimidated by anything that breaks in the future, because damn, can't be anything worse on a boat than doing this. I am glad your wife and two kids are getting to spend some time with you, and you with the fam. The two littlest littles will love it when they finally get to see it.
Sunday is the perfect day for posting. There's 5 sailing channels I watch on Sunday alone! One on Monday, one on Wednesday and two on Friday. Sunday is prime time though.
*David, I am pleased you are near finishing and soon out on the water with your family. But I am so glad that you met Colin at the beginning of your journey and proceeded to learn so much from him. Never forget that knowledge learned, as it will save your lives out on the oceans... Plus remember to have all radios turned on to the right channels!!!*
@@david_shih I know you have been busy with Colin, But.... if you start by doing catch-up and combining 3 or 4 years into each weekly post, you should be up to date sometime in 2065 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I think you could also have time to do those 10f oot sugar scoops extensions, 🤣And to out do colin, you could add a dinghy lift/swim platform that fits between the sugar scoops and gives you a full swimming deck the entire width of your boat!! Outdoing him in one sweet swoop or scoop🤣🤣
Well I must say the smile and look on your son's face had to have taken some of the fiberglass itch off. This journey like you have said changed your life. You sure look like you are healthier than before you learned about West epoxy. Haha .
You've done the hard yards, now you've earned an easy life on a solid boat that will keep your family safe. I can't believe Lagoon did such a bad job of building these cats. The deck not even touching the bulkheads is worse than their dodgy bulkheads! I crossed Lagoon off my search for a cat to buy when I sell-up and sail.
Hi David love your youtubes! Can't wait till splash day. Great work on your cat. Looks like those bulkheads are gonna hold everything nature throws at em
Your family, especially the children, are loving the trip. What an adventure. The beginning of many more to come. I love that you're back to posting since your Pacific crossing with Parlay. Thanks for sharing. Love to the family. ❤
Good job David and welcome to the world of boating bottomless pockets . It never ends as we upgrade electronics, service engines, fix toilets, buy nee batteries, fuel the boat, new sails, etc. But its worth every cent to have fun and life time memories with the family. Stay safe, enjoy your hard work and keep loving that wonderful family. Cheers Martin
Hey David. It’s sooooo awesome to see you again. Great episode. I can’t wait to see Epic on the water again. Keep up the amazing work. I am so happy to watch your videos. When you first came out I was watching in my truck (don’t drive and watch videos). I smacked a car in front of me. (Caused $9,000 damage and a lawsuit to my insurance company). So I guess I’m a fan. Anyway see ya later. If you forgot I’m the nuclear weapon specialist that just bought a boat and the starboard engine blew.
Dude. This is the best story ever. I mean sorry that happened to you, but really? Im honored to have helped cause $9k worth of damage. Epic bro. I need to get that story on video one of these days!
I have come to really enjoy this channel a lot. Always charismatic and positive about everything. It amazes me your channel isn't at 100k + yet. There's a lot of people missing out or a lot of people refusing to hit the subscribe button.
Hey Dave, your bulkheads remind me of a wheelchair accessible shower I made for my sister in law aster her stroke. I removed the tub and ask around how to build a waterproof shower. 4 people all suggested different materials so I used all 4. Hurricane Katrina came to town a blew our beloved beach home away. Nothing but slab was left…and my custom built shower unit was sitting about thirty feet away. We laughed until we cried. That was our family sanctuary. Life goes on. Now you’re building your family sanctuary. 👍👍👍

Hi guys, if you develop a reaction to Crustaceans it usually includes shellfish as well and most times you will have it for life. Look for telltale side reactions such as a metallic taste in the mouth or numbness of tongue, lips and throat but only use very small pieces of flesh to minimise adverse reactions. The most likely thing you can eat is oyster kilpatrick and all we can put it down to is the pork fat from the bacon. I’ve enjoyed the great fix job and you’ll certainly have fun sailing the world with the family and catching up with the Parley Revival crew along the way 👍👍⛵️⛵️👏👏🤩🤩
mary definitely gets weird reactions to shellfish...but it comes randomly. not all the time...any idea why? some years she can eat crawfish other she gets hives.... and wait till you see the next episode i show this time when mary got such a bad reaction her face is so swollen it looks like its from a 500 lb woman...
Hey John! I definitely have a reaction to shellfish. I've known this for a while, but I test it each crawfish season because I love crawfish. Usually I get a lot of hives. The few times that it landed me in the ER weren't even due to shellfish. Allergists cannot seem to pinpoint what it is, so I'm always ready with antihistamines just in case. I even had a reaction while pregnant and the ER was very limited in what they could give me that wouldn't affect the baby.
This was great, fantastic to see a new video!! My wife watched the entire video, this says a lot (she has no interest in fiberglass and apoxy) she found it all exciting and fun!! Great to see the family with you! Ok, I got to go, one last thing to finish on MEEKO,....well last for now...lol
HE'LL MISS ALL THIS BOAT WORK HE SAYS!!!! You will never quit working on that thing. It's a boat. The more you are in it the more often it breaks and you are going to spend a LOT of time in it. Welcome to boating! :)
This video just popped up on my main page. I only follow two boating families on UA-cam, and have for about two years. As someone who has done a very little boat repair work, with fiberglass, back in my service time....I really hate "watch me fix my sailboat" videos. But I decided to hit "play." Definitely not what I expected and DEFINITELY not as I remembered from my few days helping with minor repairs on our small patrolboats. Your family looks is amazing and your children are adorable! How you talked your wife into this is....a BILLION dollar book idea, just saying 😁😁😁 Ya hooked this Florida retiree into subscribing. I, too, wanna see your Splash Day! And that's only after watching this one video...!?!?!? I'm not sure how that happened, but here we are and here I am...a new subscriber. I hope it all (well, with boats..say "all" pray for "most") goes as close to the plan as possible. Your growing audience will be watching and supporting the adventure your family is about to launch into 👍
wow dude, what a thoughtful comment! thanks so much for the sub. to be honest i can't stand boat repair channels either. i usually make a note to check back in a few months. The only reason i became a boat fixin' channel is bc i had to. I've tried to make it as enjoyable as possible, bc the last thing i want to see is a 5 minute tutorial on how to fiberglass around corners and the science behind glass fibers. I'll have to look into that book deal... please let me know where to find it as i can use 1B$ like yesterday. 2 more vids till we splash!
@@david_shih LOL! I'll let you know about the book thing. I got a book idea too, "How To Make Your Cat Obey"...it's about 300 pages of blank paper 😁 You did make fiberglass work enjoyable. From a viewer's point of view. It's what kept me watching. I'm onboard for the next two videos! I might need to pick me up some cupcakes for your Splashing Day 🎂 Can't have ya celebrating all by yourself ⛵ Looking forward to all of your future adventures. See ya next vid drop 👍
LETS GO!!!! FYI no matter glassing, tile or anything, it sucks and you hate it. Then you forget over time saying " yeah i can do it" the regret it lol.
Welcome back to the most non-linear story-teller on UA-cam! I hate to call your ordeal "Fun" but it certainly has been fun following your pin-ball approach to getting it ready to sail around the world.
I’m just happy you’ve been able to follow along…we’ll eventually get caught up to realtime! My dilemma now is to try to mostly catchup before I release the 14 videos I filmed while crossing the Pacific Ocean with parlay last month! Otherwise that will really be confusing.
So exciting to see you have the finish line in sight. Your energy and determination is so entertaining. You make the misery of glass work look fun. Can't wait to see what you can do when you actually start enjoying the fruits of your labor!
Gday dave good to see you back mate and the family is with you and the boat is justabout finished WOOHOO awesome fella keep us posted we love your energy !!
Dave, Dave, I love you, guy! and now I love your family... but Dave quit breaking my heart by making me wait so long between videos. Dave, I'm old. I don't have that much time to wait. I'll admit you're a great boat builder, but you're even a better videographer. You have a gift to tell a story with humor it's like you open your heart to us, can't wait till your next video/story.
I totally get having the kids with you. They are going to learn that they can do anything from you. Don’t worry about teaching them the details, just know that they will know that if you can do it then so can they. That’s what my dad taught me.
Great video. Your pacing and video cuts are distinctive and unique. Your family are so fun it feels like I’m a part of it. It’s such a gas watching this. Thank you for including us on your adventures.🙏👌
@david_shih please keep in mind that yes, while I'm complaining a bit. I do it with love and sarcasm just to motivate you. Your wife must be an angel. Lol
Man you are normally a pretty happy guy, but the excitement of having your family and ready to launch really came through on this video. Glad to see you so close!
@@david_shih yes it is. With all the videos I was seeing you in with Parlay, I was wondering where was the fam? It is seriously nice to see them all with you finishing up the boat and preparing for this huge adventure ahead. Watching you and Parlay is putting me in your shoes a few years ago, shopping for a boat. The editing, camera work, and passion for the fam and the boat REALLY made me excited for you all. Enjoy your future adventures, and I cannot wait to see it all unfold.
So happy for , man. What an amazing decade it's been watching you build this boat! Also, amazing that somehow your energy is even higher with the family around. Keep up the great videos and the work you do.
Wow, were you and your spouse film students? The edits and camera work are absolutely fantastic! I can't wait to join you and your amazing family on countless exciting journeys. Hopefully, we won't have to wait too long for those awesome vlogs to come out "wink." Keep up the outstanding work and enjoy every moment with that stunning SV!
never studied film, but it's always been a dream of mine to make videos...dont know where it came from, but it was always in my gut! more vids coming faster! promise!
Glad you learned something new, but Colin taught me everything i know about boats....literally... glassing, sailing, passage making, maintenence, etc etc!
Always a pleasure to watch your videos. Funny fact.... I gave James that CA hat at the boat show. Hoping to see you guys again this year at the boat show.

David I really enjoy the extra effort you put into your videos, you have some truly excellent video editing capabilities. Don't know how you are going to be a captain, raise your family, and edit all these videos by yourself though! But I am looking forward to seeing you try, your energy is contagious!!!
i really appreciate that you notice the effort! it takes me forever to edit these, but it's totally a labor of love. I too have no idea how i'm going to be a dad, captain, and editor....but we'll figure it out some how!
Total awesomeness sleeping in a car be like luxury known only to the king of kings! The only thing that beats car sleeping is fiberglassing for months at a time. Dude!
Buddy, I felt so bad for you in the beginning of all this glass work, but now you make me feel like I should be building something out of fiberglass!!! Hahahaha.... My wife watched the entire video, this says a lot (she has no interest in fiberglass and apoxy) she found it all exciting and fun!!
Great to see the family with you!
Ok, I got to go, one last thing to finish on MEEKO,....well last for now...lol
Meeeko! The wife watched it through???!? Yeeees a win!
The bulkheads shirt is hilarious, love it!!
mary made it and i had to wear it. my 2 loves in 1 youtube and bulkheads
HE'LL MISS ALL THIS BOAT WORK HE SAYS!!!!
You will never quit working on that thing. It's a boat.
The more you are in it the more often it breaks and you are going to spend a LOT of time in it.
Welcome to boating! :)
Touché…..all I can say is touché.
What a tease! I’m looking forward to more videos!
got more comin' for you jumper!!!!
You definitely could be a comedian. Could be you are and your wife and kids are adorable.
I’d love to do that one day.
Great fittage as always David can't wait to see you and the family out on the sea!
😂fittage! We’ll be out there soon! …ish
Glad you made it!
Your screen name brings back bad memories 🤣
@@david_shih 😂😂 yep you had other crypto then Bitcoin!
Loving your attitude
thx burl! life is good
This video just popped up on my main page. I only follow two boating families on UA-cam, and have for about two years. As someone who has done a very little boat repair work, with fiberglass, back in my service time....I really hate "watch me fix my sailboat" videos. But I decided to hit "play."
Definitely not what I expected and DEFINITELY not as I remembered from my few days helping with minor repairs on our small patrolboats.
Your family looks is amazing and your children are adorable! How you talked your wife into this is....a BILLION dollar book idea, just saying 😁😁😁
Ya hooked this Florida retiree into subscribing.
I got a book idea too, "How To Make Your Cat Obey"...it's about 300 pages of blank paper 😁
You did make fiberglass work enjoyable. From a viewer's point of view. It's what kept me watching.
I'm onboard for the next two videos! I might need to pick me up some cupcakes for your Splashing Day 🎂 Can't have ya celebrating all by yourself ⛵
Looking forward to all of your future adventures. See ya next vid drop 👍
It was well worth the wait, can't wait to see the next one!
next vid is already 20% done, can you believe it!? thanks for the support
@@david_shih No😉 but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt😂
@@LostYogi don’t blame you, but you’ll see next week! …I hope
LETS GO!!!!
FYI no matter glassing, tile or anything, it sucks and you hate it. Then you forget over time saying " yeah i can do it" the regret it lol.
Oh so that’s how I keep getting my myself into new glassing projects!!!
@@david_shih Don't worry, it is confusing. But fun. How does your wife not make u walk the plank?
I think this is going to be fun spending time with you and your family.
i cant wait mark!
So exciting to see you have the finish line in sight. Your energy and determination is so entertaining. You make the misery of glass work look fun. Can't wait to see what you can do when you actually start enjoying the fruits of your labor!
I don’t think it can be described better. “The misery of glasswork!”
Gday dave good to see you back mate and the family is with you and the boat is justabout finished WOOHOO awesome fella keep us posted we love your energy !!
thanks david. will keep you posted, next episode soon!
For you brother. I’ll get the Next video out next week. Now after that no promises, but this next one’s for you!
Good for you David.
You will have plenty of other boat works to keep you busy. Ask Colin!!
Boat works NEVER STOP.
Just saw you on Parley...
Yeah so sad man. It never ends! Well maybe that’s a good thing. Undecided
@@david_shih Get the boys involved soon. I was washing down my father's boat by 5 yrs old.
⛵️😎
@@dennispatrick4999 5yo? Ok I don’t feel bad making them work now. 🙏
@@david_shih We accused my father of having 4 sons just to have a Crew to do Boat Works 🤣😂🤫
I totally get having the kids with you. They are going to learn that they can do anything from you.
Don’t worry about teaching them the details, just know that they will know that if you can do it then so can they.
That’s what my dad taught me.
luckily man to have a dad like that. i love teaching them and hope it helps them in teh long run!
Great video. Your pacing and video cuts are distinctive and unique. Your family are so fun it feels like I’m a part of it. It’s such a gas watching this. Thank you for including us on your adventures.🙏👌
happy to have you guys along on the adventure! and thanks for the kind words!
Takes a lot to impress me bro. I'm impressed, very thorough job and great problem solving with it. Good resolve on that main bulkhead.
So close! Really happy for you all. :)
soo sooo close! we splash in 2 vids!
Wow! Exciting!
Wow an actual video! Lol😂 Glad you are getting stuff together. I still think the boat name should be Shi-Zuh!
i know! sorry for being so slow! but next one is coming next week!
Is it that obvious? Being away this last year made me realize just how much I love the fam!
@@JDS1976 being on parlay is a dream every time i go, but having to leave the family sucks! can't wait to do all this with them in tow!

Taking the jump mate, love it
Thank you for these solid fiberglassing tips! You’ve expanded what I picked up from Parlay.
Hey Ryan!!!! Can’t wait to see you in October!

You have the energy of the energiser bunny...such a positive attitude...and great fibreglass work
hahah it's the only way...otherwise i'd get discouraged and give up
David I really enjoy the extra effort you put into your videos, you have some truly excellent video editing capabilities.
Dude!
hahah. car sleeping and fiberglassing...the highlights of boat work amirite?

Buddy, I felt so bad for you in the beginning of all this glass work, but now you make me feel like I should be building something out of fiberglass!!! Hahahaha.... I love your videos and love the fact that you and your family are living a wonderful, fun life together and NOT letting this damned "divide" take everything over... Keep them coming, my friend. You and Mary are THE TOPS!!!!!!!
