I am ashamed to say that I never heard of Willie Dunn until yesterday when I read about a great singer songwriter, and that man's name was Willie Dunn. They said he was adept at telling a story in his music about 1st Nation people. At that point I started listening to his music that I found on UA-cam. What a great singer! What a great songwriter! The music he wrote gives the listener a clearer understanding of the hardship and pain and the betrayal of the people who were here before us. Growing up in Scarborough I never was taught about the real story of Canada. I realized that I got the viewpoint of the white history. Of course we were taught the 1st Nation people willingly signed treaties and they were much better off after that. Nothing could be further from the truth! It is sad that so many people believe the wrong narrative about this great country. It really is the time to do the right thing and change the way 1st Nation people are treated and thought of. I am so glad that I have discovered the music of Willie Dunn. Thank you for posting this.
Thanks for sharing another of Willies songs. I've been showing my family his music. Music has always been important in our Metis family. I hope you continue uploading more.
Was one of my musical heroes. I was trying to get the lyrics from a song he did in the 60’s called Tears still Fall within my Mind. It was played on a CBC program where he sang it live
This song you are referring to is a rare unreleased gem from my father which was only recorded twice as far as i know, one being the 'songs of man' performance you saw on cbc. The title is "gown of silver'
Lawrence Dunn Wow. So amazing. Gown of Silver. To me your Dad was a legendary composer. I am 42 and the first time I heard him was in early 90’s. I was a Kashtin fan and heard Son of the son was his song. Hooked ever since. I actually have a song I am working on about him. Or at least the inspiration he was for me. When I am done I will share.
Lawrence Dunn, Hey Lawrence . I found your fathers music through my uncle who lived next door to Willie for many years. I had an old scratched CD of Son of the Sun which is too damaged to listen too. WHERE CAN I BUY THIS CD, and where in gods name can I hear his brilliant song Yellowhead Highway?!? Greetings from B.C. James
Hi would you know where I could find sheet music or good chord sheets of Willie 's music? I met him through Parker Duchemin,a common friend , in the 90's in Ottawa.
The times I met my great uncle I never understood the music. I am 28 now and i have been hooked for the last two years. What an amazing talent.
Are you saying Willie Dunn is your uncle ?🤯…☝🏼❤🫡

Jair Machado google “Willie Dunn CBC “ and that full performance, including “gown of silver” is available to watch. It’s brilliant.

Where is Dunn's version of Charlie Wenjack? Capitalism prefers Tragically Hip version?
