Well done! Thanks for sharing
Great lap.
Love it. I drive past Pacific Raceways twice a day on my way to and from work. I'd love to take my mini out there sometime. :)
unaclocker I'd be broke if I lived that close. Do you ever go to the PGP go kart course there on the same site? It's a ton of fun, nearly as fun as the big track.
***** I have the new Mini Hardtop. You wouldn't know any place near Dallas that I could bring it to race, would you. I really wanna take it out some day, I just don't know where.
Leo Tanzi I don't know, but these guys might. www.corvetteforum.com/forums/autocrossing-and-roadracing/3051075-road-course-tracks-around-the-dfw-area.html
***** thanks for the help! Also, I'm considering putting some upgrade in Mini, where do you suggest I start?
Leo Tanzi supercharger pulley, sway bar, cold air intake.
Nice Driving. I,also, track a Mini at Laguna and Sonoma. You seem to have me by about 4 seconds.
hot damn!
1.1g in the corners and 120mph down the straight. Pretty good for a little grocery-getter.
Garth Goldberg I've hit 130 down the straight before, with some very very late braking.
Not really a grocerie getter made for pure driving, supercharged top speed 140mph. A few mods not much money and they can be very fast cars 150mph plus easily
Amazing
Exhilarating

Fast cars usually look slow on video, you must be freaking flying man!
It's not slow. Speed in MPH in bottom left.
Nice lap, quick as heck, was that a camaro ahead of you? He could not escape the mod mini great driving.
Victor Oliveira Yes, a Camaro. Camaro might be fast on the straights but a Super-MINI is faster in the corners!
Yep you really caught him in the corners, nice driving.
Victor Oliveira I've watched this lap a lot, not much I would have changed. Car was holding on for dear life in the corners :-)
Gave that Camaro a run ! Was that a v8 ? Nice mini. I bet we have similar mods ..I'm just about to do my custom tuning now
Is there any way to have a short chat or ask you some questions? I purchased a previously modded 03 R53 and was wondering where to go from there..
@Mod MINI
Thank you, really appreciate your videos!
Husam Hammadi Congratulations on purchasing the correct car. I don't really have enough time these days to have a realtime conversation, but you are free to leave comments below one of my videos, or message me from my channel page. I'd also suggest checking out Northamericanmotoring.com, your local car club, and some of the various Facebook MINI-related groups. Also, www.reddit.com/r/mini .
Thanks for the reply!
I bought my R53 cheap so i'm trying to fix it and upgrade parts to make it as good as yours hopefully..
I have a few concerns if you have time:
Was replacing the ball joints, noticed that the harmonic balancer is replaced with a lightweight 3-spoke one-- is this a big concern?
--theres this noise when decelerating on any gear, sorta like a knock but it's been like that for a month and hasnt decrease or increased
thank you so much for these great videos!
Husam Hammadi Harmonic balancer with dampening is preferable to a solid pulley. That is probably a +2% pulley. If you replace it, you'll need a belt as well. Probably not a huge issue but without dampening, impact forces from engine will make their way into the belt driven accessories.
You may have a broken motor mount which is causing the engine to move.
If building a race car, needs to have 12.8 weight (lbs) to power (hp), would you start with an turbo R56 or an supercharged R53? Its for WRL. Seems turbo engines would be easier to mod, but I'm new to the world of MINIs.
The R53 motor is more durable but the R56 with turbo has more low end torque. In competitive racing, that could be important. Lot of the time I am bogged down in second gear while an R56 is able to pull away. I have more power up high but I have to wait before I can use it.
R53 for life
