Great video!!! Can't wait to see the follow up for the underside.
Thanks a lot Fred! You ROCK bud! That underside video is coming soon! Stay tuned!
I do this every spring. Just about any product will work, in my opinion: Moovit spray lubricant, transmission oil, motor oil, any oil. Obviously a spray product is a bit faster.
ROCK ON Paul!
Nice to see you getting some sponsors, you deserve it!
Thanks Flint, I reached out to them in the spring and told them my plans with the mower. They were great and sent some thing my way. Great products! I will use this on other applications too! 👍
I know its mid season but, after a particularly messy mow, i cleaned the mower and i hit the deck with the silicon spray.
Thanks for sharing
Before I even stumbled across your video I was surprised to see I own the same mowers. I have a Toro Timemaster and a Honda HRX217 with nexite deck. Both awesome mowers, Honda starts 1st pull every time after years of commercial use. Timemaster I just got but what a beautiful cut! Thanks for this great video.
Ha awesome my friend! Unfortunately I sold my timemaster recently! Too many mechanical issues as they age! Did a video on this! Did cut well tho! Thanks for watching!
I could recommend you to ceramic coat the metal parts. Yes, the same product on car's paint. Will give it a hydrophobic properties and you could dry the mower with a blower. Sorry for my rant but I'm new in this yard/patio thing
Thanks for sharing Carlos! There’s lots of options for these mower decks! Thanks for watching another!
Unfortunately that won't help to avoid corrosion underneath where is more critical. What I do is to apply several coats of Rust Oleum primer and paint since original factory paint is very light and thin and corrosion starts underneath above the blade
Hey JDL I did a video on ceramic coating the underside of the deck in this playlist. Check it out! Good tips with the rust oleum! Thanks for watching!
Got any specific paint recommendations? When do you think the first application will be necessary on a new Honda mower, with a half acre yard to mow every week? I'd like to go the extra mile to keep this baby purring.
I have a can of Fluid Film’s Powerful Rust & Corrosion Protection. Could I use it instead of the Rust Stopper you use in the video?
Sure can! 👍
Didn't know this stuff existed, thanks for sharing . I got a Honda hrr still run like a champ after 7 + years. Will buy a hrn before Honda stops selling lawnmower this year.
Cool my friend! Get ‘em before they are gone! 👍
Hey folks, i have a toro super recycler. Starting to see a slight orange tint of rust on the front and sides of my boy.
Would this eliminate this slight build up. And then i can conitinue using this as a prevention?
Hey taco! Do you have a super recycler or a recycler. The super recyclers are made of aluminum and won’t rust. The recycler models are made of steel and can rust. This can help prevent rust from forming or stop it from spreading
Thanks for the reply! I sent you an email with an attached picture.
Thank You for sharing! Would this work on a snow blower?
Absolutely!
Great channel with helpful tips.
Thanks a lot Scott! Appreciate the positive feedback! 👍
Oily oily ooooilyyyy. Love it. 🤘
Good stuff man! Ever use it? 👍
@@GarageGear Not yet, but I’ll definitely have to start!
@@jimmysgarage9068 protects well! Good for winter undercoating! May use it for some other applications too!
I'm guessing I can use the Stabil Rust Stopper on a battery powered mower, under the mowing deck and a snow blower too? Right?
Hey Misue, you can use it in all those applications. It’s a great product and it works very well! Since it’s oil based it stays put better too! Thanks for checking out my channel! 👍
When I spray the cable, i press the bar, spray in hole and release bar, i do that a couple times
Good plan!
Can we use fluid film instead ?
Sure can! 👍
Unfortunately the plastic shields on the back of the HRX rear wheels don't seem to come off like they do on the HRN. The gears had a good amount of grease on them. Also I wasnt too thrilled about the smell of sheep on me
Any suggestions on a lube for the cables?
Something this like wd40 or automatic transmission fluid will work well. Done it in the past with plenty of success. Thanks for watching!
Do you apply this under the deck by the blades ?
I actually used slip plate to do that! I did a video on it! Thanks for watching
Excellent tutorial. I just smashed the sub button.
Welcome to the tribe Jesse! 👍
Bicycle "Frame Saver" for the inside of tubes and Nu-Finish for the exposed metal parts, lubricate the cables with a Teflon spray.
Thanks for sharing garage sale
Does amsoil make a similar rust proofing product? Have you used amsoil products?
I’m sure they do but I’ve never tried it before. Thanks for watching
Would regular wd40 protect against rusting?
Yes it does help but washes off easier compared to other products.
What strap do you put on the mower handle to stop it cutting off?
Hey Cameron! It’s called a strap wrench! Here is a link to them . amzn.to/3tHR2Ma thanks for watching!
Oily Oily not a good idea on any model with the BBC (roto stop) . Will cause the clutch to slip.
Thanks for watching mike!
Also, I'm not sure if petroleum based corrosion protection is best for plastic parts. Petrol based will degrade any plastic, but if you use it on deck, that's great.
any tips to prolong the life of the hard catchers JB?
Hey satcha are you referring to the bag?
@@GarageGear not soft bag, the hard black plastic catcher
@@Satchafunkilus hey my friend! Still unsure of what you’re talking about. Can you send me a picture on Instagram? Garagegearjb
Can you also use wd-40 and it will do the same thing?
Yep that will work too!
No! It's about 99.9% solvent and the oil that remains is miniscule. Just about anything else will work.
What the heck! Does J B ever have a bad tip? 😅
Hahahah yes here’s one… buy six lawn mowers and see how long it takes your wife to get mad lol! Thanks for watching mark! You ROCK!
If you don't want the underside of the deck to rust ...go get petroleum based spray can of car undercoating and spray .
Thanks for sharing
Great video but can't find the fallow up video.....
It should be in the description in that video. Thanks for checking it out!
I spray WD40 under my mower deck every time I cut my lawn. Grass won’t stick bad especially if the grass is wet
Good plan
Use a mower that has an aluminum deck. DONE!!!!
An aluminum deck is a big plus but not many mowers have that nowadays. Older mowers that had them were great. If a mower has one today their usually pretty expensive but work well. Thanks for watching Norge!
Painted metal don't rust!
Thanks for sharing
just buy a HRX easy!
Thanks for watching
Seems like a bit much. I mean how does your truck's bumper not rust? No one treats that
I wax my truck bumper
@@GarageGear why does that not surprise me 😂 Rock on. I don't. Truck is 20 years old, bumper mint condition. If my bumper weren't stainless steel I'd probably wax it with the rest of the truck
@@ikigai47 what kind of truck do you have my friend?
1:31 Annoying 😮
Thanks for watching
@@GarageGearI didn't mean that in a critical way, it's funny because it's annoying😊
