- Hey it’s me, Mimi! Today I decided to do a video about what blacks experience here in the Philippines. I sat down with my friend Alexie Brooks a model and athlete here in the Philippines to discuss the racism we face growing up here in the Philippines. Bruh me to
I am brown -skinned woman and I thank God for it. Skin color does not guarantee the character or manners of a person. It is within the person.
Thank you for sharing that ❤️❤️❤️
I am Filipina living in South Africa. Black people are beautiful!!!! They dont rely to skin color pra masabi na maganda. Their overall feature shines through.. Im so happy filipinos are very accepting of other race.
Maharlika Bebz thank you for sharing that! ❤️
Most Filipinos and East Asians are not accepting black skin. Filipinos are just good at pretending, some virtue signaling.
@@nandorblue that’s true the Racism is still here talaga
@@MimiFelicia In my opinion East Asians today are far more racist then let's say Whites. Often they are just sneaky about it or don't care since it's part of their culture. ua-cam.com/video/XCzIj4VhmGg/v-deo.html
South Africa? You one of the few here hope you enjoy it
That Filipino English accent is so recognizable! Hehehe. Also, glad to know the new generation's perception on black people is changing. Love your video! :)
Jurabox thank you so much for this comment. ❤️
I wish their will be a skin care commercial that features dark skinned Filipino or aboriginal Filipino that shows how to take care of dark skin and brown skin to make it healthier, not showing skin whitening schemes.
I hate whitening products, it's making my skin too pale and I have no choice bcoz most of the pimple removing products that I know has whitening effects. I want my skin to stay brown and healthy.
yeah i also really wish they'll show diversity
Skin whitening products are a scam and they are actually carcinogenic. Don't give yourself cancer, stay black and beautiful.
@@fazbell hmm that’s an interesting fact
Mimi Felicia tbh, I think skincare to avoid pollutants is the concern but the sun isn’t a problem because we have melanin in our skin. We got bleached because my ancestors got raped while the nation was being plunder by the colonizers. The maharlikans never really cared about skin color, racism was taught to us by the Europeans and up until now; there is a group of maharlikans that want to get rid of the things forced upon us such as the Roman alphabet system and this foreign religion called Catholicism.
@@PropagandaMinister thanks for sharing such interesting fact
i have a black classmate before im so attractive to her coz she's really gorgeous and i always smell her hair hahaha😊
Bryan Ben Vistal hahaha cute ❤️
aw thats so cute😭
I'm Filipino and I have black girl classmates and they never been bullied in schools!!
That’s very nice
Hey Ram😎
Its really backwards just to say and they are not bullied tells you whats first identified ..I mean if I known this never in a thousand years would I come here..theres soo many other beautiful places in the world..I feel like I must have been out of my mind.
@@johngeorgewashington1416 : What racist experiences have you had? How do they act backwards. I might call my trip off now . 😫
Being Black is beautiful, it gives out more flavor and extra spark to someone's beauty. Black beauty is something that makes you keep on looking for and never get used to, unlike white beauty which is dull & so ordinary and gets boring overtime.
Thank so much that’s a beautiful comment 😘❤️
God created man in His image, spiritual and beautiful (Genesis 1:27) Problems occured when man rejected Him and was therefore separated from Him, hence racism and diverse chaos. Hence Christ coming to restaure this image and give us salvation, and reconcile with Him and with our siblings by true love, the love of the cross. Anyway be strengthened ~
And exactly 4 yrs later today, these young girl Alexie Mae Brooks is now competing to represent the Philippines in this year's MU 2024 and actually have a very very good chance of winning it..
Honestly, I was one of those who grew up thinking a fair skin looks more beautiful. It's not really because that's what I really think but rather because having a fair skin is somehow attributed to a higher social class. People thought that those in lower class tend to have jobs that require them to work a lot under the sun.
However, growing up, with my education, exposure to different cultures thru social media and my personal experiences have taught me to be more open minded, accepting and critical on issues like this. It's not just me but I think, generally, my and the new generation embrace people of different culture and color more easily compared to the older generations.
Wow thank you so much for sharing that. I’m glad you know better now regarding colorism I wish more people would follow your path ❤️❤️❤️
You're absolutely right
Nice video. I married my asawa 13 years ago in the Philippines. We have a son. Nice to hear the point of view from a blasian perspective. Thanks for sharing. Ingat.

Mostly Filipinos now is more of prioritizing skin care because almost all want to have a flawless skin and is starting to accept our natural morena color.

Look at your skin! The light is reflecting so beautifully. Y’all don’t even have pores... what the heck. Not a single blemish. I’m so glad to hear you have had some positive experiences lately and that things are getting better in your opinion. This comforts me because I moved to the USA but I was born/raised in PH. My partner is black and I get scared sometimes to bring him back home.
Don’t be it’s pretty still fun here in the Philippines.❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing

Congratulations to both of you! of course Dark skin is beautiful
Heck don’t mind close minded individuals as they are a part of any society.
Generally Filipinos are a very mixed race and accepting of any skin color to be part of their own.
Don’t worry too much, your fears are unfounded.
Blesians abound in the Philippines and are widely admired and accepted.
In fact PH is the true Cross-road and melting pot country in Asia.
Toto Gianzon thats a fair point tho

Aww Thank you!

got here after Alexie, after winning Ms Ilo-ilo and her upcoming Ms. Universe Phil journey, started bombarding my fb feeds, haha. so interesting beauty
This is my first time seeing you ladies. WOW! What a feast for the eyes! I'm happy to hear you are experiencing the positive changes that are taking place in acceptance of different races. I grew up when everything was white. I've been fortunate to live through the introduction of Blacks on TV, movies, You Tube vlogs, etc. And now to see you two in the Philippines is like the cherry on top. Well, two cherries! I don't know your ages but 50 years ago part of your assemble - aside from earrings and bracelet, etc - would have been to also carry a short heavy stick to beat me away! I'm teasing of course. But I sincerely wish you both well. Successful videos. And a wonderful life. P.S. My ex-wife was from Ilo Ilo. We had plans to retire there. But, alas, it didn't work out.
Wow!! Philippines seems like a good country to travel to,seems so open minded to all races👏🏾👏🏾wow!!Some country says they're being racist because they hadn't seen any black in personal but I think from this point it's not true at all,if you're racist it's your personality or may be being taught.
All girls are deserve to be respect and to loved and to be love. That's all it matters.
Love the perfect teeth and genuine smile. When she'll join a beauty pageant the make-up artist may change the shape of the eyebrows. She's a good conversant in English.
Omg both of you are gorgeous. And for the biracial girl, you're Ilonggo too! We from the same island.
yeah Alexie is ilonggo :)
I like your Filipino accent, Mimi.
Andy Torres Thank you po! ❤️
Living in the Philippines is actually a different experience than some European countries. Filipinos are not really racist, compared to where I have lived in Europe. Just that sometimes where they stare at u, u may feel somehow embarrassed, but get closed to them u will know they are so cool
Shola Sammy Vlogs. Yeah cause they are really curious people. Thanks for sharing ☺️☺️
bakit ngayon ko lang to nakita? love you mimi!!

I really love the taglish and the accent guys! Only people who lived in the Philippines for a long time would know that we are multilingual and have different accents per region! ❤

you are both beautiful.. stunning ❤️
Thank you 😘😘
My father has a bicol indeginous bloodline and his skin is very dark, almost black and my mother is a mistisang visaya so my skin has a lighter morena shade... people say my dad is coffee and my mom is milk and Im the result. I wanted to be as dark as my father because it looks so flawless but I used to get bullied because of it. Filipinos are mostly nice people but like in other places, people can be mean.
Thats very true. Regardless of what they say i think you’re beautiful no matter your color ❤️
I love you !
Noon pa man magaling na talaga mag salita si Alexie❤❤❤
it doesn t matter what color your skin is it is always beautiful

When I was on the plane on my connecting flight one nice Filipina flirted w me and the Filipina seating next to me said he has a wife..but then she said where are you living and she said Taguig..she then said "as she departed the plane you are going to have problems..I was naive and really wasnt on Facebook or UA-cam 5 years ago so I didnt really research but its a beautiful country..just be very careful and get used to the stares ....

Aman Gola truuuue Filipino girls are ❤️
Flawless skin is the thing in the Php recently
A decade ago it's about whitening
Reason being is about social status
Less dark means you work in an office
Darker skin means you work under the sun like construction workers and farmers
That’s true. They dont realize dark skin is beautiful sadly
@@MimiFelicia ur so beautiful, I'm dark and I'm proud of it, I wish I had a black gf but I never had a chance.

@@fazbell really haha
Nice I've just came across this channel nice
❤❤❤Alexie....proud Ilongga here ❤️
Came here because if my wife ever has Filipino/ Black children , we considered raising them in the Philippines.. We believe that ; because they would be looked at as" financially Well off ", it would make a big difference on how they would be treated. Do you think economic status and where you live makes a difference with darker skinned kids there?
well its true there's this thing about filipinos thinking dark skinned people are wealthy but it can affect their lives either postively or negatively
YES !!!!
Very minimal..because you are mixed..I did go into contract to buy a condominium here ready for occupancy in 2025 but I did it so my son whose 5 and half Filipino can have the necessary status in life..as far as close to major business and colleges..but theres a real deep "its my country attitude here" ..a African guy was at the Mall and a security guard yelled at him watch how you talk this is my country..yeah seriously its strange as heck here..be prepared.
@@johngeorgewashington1416 UA-cam creator Sunshine Shoulders mentioned this in one of his videos. Stating as a foreigner you can really get in trouble for evening arguing with a native Filipino

Philippines is becoming more diverse now all ethnicity are accepted . This is good ,we are more moving to non-traditional if you are mestiza or white you are beautiful. Can you just imagine how boring life would be if everybody look the same.
Yes I’m so glad there’s progress going on here! 😩😊

Yeah its sad 🥺
True ..and they will soon find out thats guaranteed..its a open country but a very closed society..I think when they kicked out the US Military it really hurt this country because it could have become more diverse..but it kicked the American soldiers out and now its like a built in wall in the country..its hard to explain..when I went this week to the province in a nice neighborhood I kid you not all the neighbors came outside just to look..seriously its strange as heck here..

I'm black American and my wife is Filapena. We have a 3 year old son. Never experienced any racism in the Phillipines, howerver, they do have colorism. Colorism also exists in the Black and Hispanic American cultures as well. Colorism is not racism. It is just the notion that lighter skin is better. My wife is not much lighter complexion than y'all.

Your experiences are valid and the colorism is real back home. But you have to remember that the Philippines is still a largely racially homogeneous country. But I do LOVE your upbeat attitude, because your attitude is the first step towards opening Filipinos’ minds to being more open to diversity.
