  • Hey it’s me, Mimi! Today I decided to do a video about what blacks experience here in the Philippines. I sat down with my friend Alexie Brooks a model and athlete here in the Philippines to discuss the racism we face growing up here in the Philippines. Feel free to comment or share your opinion about the topic Hope you all enjoy this video!

    I wish their will be a skin care commercial that features dark skinned Filipino or aboriginal Filipino that shows how to take care of dark skin and brown skin to make it healthier, not showing skin whitening schemes.
    I hate whitening products, it's making my skin too pale and I have no choice bcoz most of the pimple removing products that I know has whitening effects. I want my skin to stay brown and healthy.

      Mimi Felicia tbh, I think skincare to avoid pollutants is the concern but the sun isn’t a problem because we have melanin in our skin. We got bleached because my ancestors got raped while the nation was being plunder by the colonizers. The maharlikans never really cared about skin color, racism was taught to us by the Europeans and up until now; there is a group of maharlikans that want to get rid of the things forced upon us such as the Roman alphabet system and this foreign religion called Catholicism.

    God created man in His image, spiritual and beautiful (Genesis 1:27) Problems occured when man rejected Him and was therefore separated from Him, hence racism and diverse chaos. Hence Christ coming to restaure this image and give us salvation, and reconcile with Him and with our siblings by true love, the love of the cross. Anyway be strengthened ~

    Honestly, I was one of those who grew up thinking a fair skin looks more beautiful. It's not really because that's what I really think but rather because having a fair skin is somehow attributed to a higher social class. People thought that those in lower class tend to have jobs that require them to work a lot under the sun.
    However, growing up, with my education, exposure to different cultures thru social media and my personal experiences have taught me to be more open minded, accepting and critical on issues like this. It's not just me but I think, generally, my and the new generation embrace people of different culture and color more easily compared to the older generations.

    This is my first time seeing you ladies. WOW! What a feast for the eyes! I'm happy to hear you are experiencing the positive changes that are taking place in acceptance of different races. I grew up when everything was white. I've been fortunate to live through the introduction of Blacks on TV, movies, You Tube vlogs, etc. And now to see you two in the Philippines is like the cherry on top. Well, two cherries! I don't know your ages but 50 years ago part of your assemble - aside from earrings and bracelet, etc - would have been to also carry a short heavy stick to beat me away! I'm teasing of course. But I sincerely wish you both well. Successful videos. And a wonderful life. P.S. My ex-wife was from Ilo Ilo. We had plans to retire there. But, alas, it didn't work out.

    Came here because if my wife ever has Filipino/ Black children , we considered raising them in the Philippines.. We believe that ; because they would be looked at as" financially Well off ", it would make a big difference on how they would be treated. Do you think economic status and where you live makes a difference with darker skinned kids there?

    • @MimiFelicia
      @MimiFelicia  3 роки тому +1

      well its true there's this thing about filipinos thinking dark skinned people are wealthy but it can affect their lives either postively or negatively

      Very minimal..because you are mixed..I did go into contract to buy a condominium here ready for occupancy in 2025 but I did it so my son whose 5 and half Filipino can have the necessary status in life..as far as close to major business and colleges..but theres a real deep "its my country attitude here" ..a African guy was at the Mall and a security guard yelled at him watch how you talk this is my country..yeah seriously its strange as heck here..be prepared.

    I'm black American and my wife is Filapena. We have a 3 year old son. Never experienced any racism in the Phillipines, howerver, they do have colorism. Colorism also exists in the Black and Hispanic American cultures as well. Colorism is not racism. It is just the notion that lighter skin is better. My wife is not much lighter complexion than y'all.

    Your experiences are valid and the colorism is real back home. But you have to remember that the Philippines is still a largely racially homogeneous country. But I do LOVE your upbeat attitude, because your attitude is the first step towards opening Filipinos’ minds to being more open to diversity.
