Bloody disgusting to let it go to ruin like that. Was a member for years but left when they merged with Wests, that spelt the loss of the Balmain Tigers identity for many. Keith Barnes passed away not long back. Greens, developers and trendy "basket weaving" councillors fighting each other have prevented development of the site for many years now. Leichardt, Rozelle and Balmain are no longer the working mans suburbs.
A lot of inner west and city suburbs no longer belong to the working man, they’ve been edged out for the rich and many have had to leave to go out west or up the coast. Sorry this happened to you mate. Ben from Kempsey
Its unfortunate that this has happened and I'm surprised that the site has been left to rot for this long rather than being knocked down and redeveloped 🤷🏽♂️
And to think this albanese prick is willing to put 600 million dollars towards getting a png club in the nrl is a fkn joke. It should be spent on redeveloping the balmain leagues club. All that history gone .
My dad ran the catering there in the mid 90s. As it was my first job, it was a big thrill serving food to the players at the time. We had access to every nook and cranny so this brought back many memories - thanks for the video!
Spent 18 hours inside the club on grand final day in 2005. Also as a youngster, met many of the big players (Benny Elias, Wayne Pearce, Garry Jack, etc) there on different visits for various reasons through the years. They were all very down to earth, and were genuinely happy to meet yet another Tigers fan, and were very generous with their time. The club was run reasonably well back then too. Got a lot of great memories from there yet now.......Pfft! I haven't watched a Tigers game in a few years. It's very sad what has become of the whole club, not just the current situation. I'm about to watch the video with great interest.
So sad to see a lot of places now turning out like this all over Australia. Many places now looking like 3rd World slum shitholes. Was coming off an Airport Hwyexit in Melbourne last week and the amount of rubbish lined up along the highway was disgusting. We pay taxes and Council rates and get fk all in return.

Remember the times using the club as a starting point with a few beers. Then walk down Balmain Rd and call into pubs on the way to Leichhardt Oval. Watch the game and start over again back to the club.
Been a Tigers fan since the early 80's & now I seriously couldn't care less about the merger. Had high hopes for it early on, especially after that great season in 2005 & for a good few years after but the last decade or so feels like the club hates itself internally & almost goes out of its way to fail. It's toxic. Truthfully, if there is one club that needs booting out of the NRL then it's us.
Very sad even for a QLD man like me. Same thing happened in Brisbane to great cubs like Valleys, Brothers, Souths and Wests. We lost the battle to corporate greed.
Yeah mate I joked about that with her actually , they didn't want the ban her as it was because she read out a letter from a sex worker placed on a table Infront of her brother in-law who isnlwgally blind and obviously cannot read nor afford the services so scrunced the letter up and tossed it and they all laughed , sec worker called nan a slut and nan dragged her into the carpark and flogged her 😂 . They didn't call her Paul Hogan for no reason lol @@ZIGSVIDS
@jonnyquest7099 I'm talking about participation, junior clubs are folding and the teams they do have are very few and far between, union, I'd draw the curtains if they were playing in my garden.

@@benjamindelfs2718same has happened in brisbane inner city too. None are working mans suburbs anymore where i free up in.
All upstart fks around now
Balmain hasn't been working class for decades, full of rich yuppies and boomers
Went to Balmain Leagues back in 1992 and watched a mate sing in a talent contest. Two Billy Joel songs.

We used to skate the carpark with our mates when we were kids in the 90s until Junior told us all in no uncertain terms that we had to piss off lol

It's hard to see something you’ve cherished end up in this state. Hopefully, they honor the club's rich history.

what you mean? The current colour scheme is perfect :)
This is why wests Group owns 90% of the merger, nuff said

They had only just rebuilt it before it was permanently closed. It was a very nice club... what a waste of money.

I think it’s safe 4 her 2 go back there now.
I would guess the locals use this place now to chase dragons, not tigers 😢
You know things are bad when the graffiti makes the place look good.
Well said
This building sums up the Tiger's....
I think next year will be a better year for the Tigers. I reckon with the signing of Luai will definitely help get them off the bottom.
@ShadowedSecrets696 I feel for tigers fans, hope they go better next year.
