real heroes don’t need fame they just go on with their lives if i was in a situation to help someone i would but i don’t want or need any fame or recognition i do help people all the time from opening doors for people to returning lost items just last week me and my mom helped return a lost kid to their mother in a very busy and chaotic grocery store it was super busy and i watched many people just ignore the kid and pass by not even caring at all my mom is a teacher so she knows how to handle young kids and that probably helped as well but i think the girl didn’t understand much english but we still managed to guide her to a less congested spot to wait for their mother to find them and this is the first time i have told this to anyone outside of my household

It really depends on the jurisdiction. In many places, there is a shortage of either applicants or budget to pay for additional officers. In my (suburban) home town, which actually has a very well-funded department, they usually run one cop per vehicle unless it is a new officer with a field training officer. That said, even routine calls will often have a primary officer and at least one other unit "to follow." Normal traffic stops can turn dangerous in an instant, as demonstrated in many of the clips in this video.

Unfortunately there are just as many if not more situations where the civilian involves themself and makes the situation drastically worse. Policing should be left to the court. Make sure you understand what your getting into before you do it. Trying to be the hero can easily get people unnecessary hurt or killed if you can't read the situation.
