Social Media Has Become So Toxic, I Want This Channel To Be Different

- As the title of this video no doubt tells you, I've grown incredibly tired of life on Twitter (now known as X) and wanted to record a video explaining my plans for this channel heading into the new season.
I'm fully aware that uploads here have been sporadic to say the least but I wanted to explain why that has been the case and give an insight into why I'll be making sure I change that as the new domestic season looms large on the horizon.
I've been on Twitter for 13 years now and whilst it's always been a place where tribalism rules above all else, I, alongside thousands of others it seems, feel as though it's become an even more grim platform to scroll through from day to day.
I, quite simply, want this channel to be different, an oasis of calm, where people can express their opinions in a measured and nuanced way in the comments section without resorting to petty arguments and hate-filled replies, maybe I'm showing a startling level of naivety in that aim but it's what I'll be striving for, alongside far more frequent, if less densely researched content on here from week to week.

Dan, you always come across as measured, reasonable person. Just carry on and do what you feel best with the videos, we'll love them and you'll get it right more often than not. Really enjoy UA-cam but have never bothered with X/Twitter. Anyway, as Joyce would have said above the roar of the Arthur, 'Come on Palace, give us a goal'. Now there was a voice of reason. ⚽ ❤💙🦅

Credit to you here. Increasingly find that delving into X/Twitter a polarising experience, one where spitting facts and constructive conversation takes a back seat.
Thanks very much, I get that tribalism is part of the game and in many ways, it’s why we love the sport so much but Twitter has become horrible.

Definitely share the opinion that Twitter has become far too toxic recently. Only earlier this week did I tweet about potential binning my long-standing account (EST. 2011) and starting up with a smaller account in terms of followers/following.
Looking forward, as always, to what you have to say throughout the coming season.

I made the decision to come off Twitter when my son was born in September 2021 due to the negativity. I was always considering it but a patreon you released around the time regarding frustrations with the negativity on Twitter was the final tipping decision for me to take that negativity out my life. So I partly have you to thank for the lack of negativity I'm exposed to.

I have to agree. I still find myself spending way too much time on ‘X’ but my timeline is filled with violence. Whether it be a school bully or neighbourhood feud, or racist protests etc etc. I don’t know what Elon’s agenda is with the algorithm but he’s definitely added a negative spin (and it was bad enough before).
I think it’s a positive that so many people feel the same way and are seeking a way of expressing their dissatisfaction with Twitter. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment.
At the end of the day we're all here to do what makes us happy and not take things too seriously. Twitter seems to be the exception to that rule for what seems to be a growing minority.
Absolutely; I know society has gone that way generally but we don’t have to follow suit.

Twitter is an absolute cesspit, in slowly finding my way off there and can’t wait for the day I finally commit to deleting it but sadly too useful for real-time news and sports communities atm
It really feels as though vast swathes of people are feeling the same way, I’m hopeful that this channel will be an escape from that.

One of the main reasons I love this channel is because it has no toxicity to it in any level. No hate towards anyone or anything and you always have incredible insights towards the sport. Listening to said insights is very important especially since I love this sport so much and its the only getaway for so many people including me and you make it even better with your educational videos. Keep it up brother.

Fully support this 'soft' relaunch, you are one of the few remaining reasons I use Twitter/X, the place is now awful. Do you do much on Instagram? I find that to be broadly less hellish.
I don’t do Instagram really, I’ve never been able to make it work for me if truth be told. Hopefully you’ll enjoy my increased output on here from now on.
