Thank you so much Dr. Yasir Qadi, I feel obliged to say this. Although I am not an advanced student much less a student of knowledge, I found this lecture very very informative and it opened my eyes to an area that I was completely unaware of. I think I understood the gist of your this very informative lecture. Of All your lectures that I have had the pleasure of listening to, I found this lecture the most interesting and eye opening. Once again thank you. May Allah bless you and keeps you steadfast in spreading the good. I am sure those to come of our ummah will greatly benefit from this work and others that you are doing. May Allah increase our understanding of Islam and May make us neighbours in Jannath with other fellow muslims of our ummah. We are a nation without borders, without a race and without the evil that splits us apart. Aameen. Once again I cannot thank you enough for this lecture. I will continue to seek this knowledge and I pray to Allah to give me more understing towards sirat al mustaqim. Sallahlaah Alaa Mohammed, Sallahlaah Alaihi Wassalaam. @@rayanjalaluddinallibnani3154 So according to Yasir, when Christians and Jews call upon saints and rabbis its only haram but not shirk - since they don't believe the saints and rabbis are "Allah".

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Let there be curse of Allah upon the Jews and the Christians for they have taken the graves of their apostles as places of worship.

The comfort that I felt after all the years of frustration and trauma from what I've seen of this ideology, not to mention the people I've hurt in the process, this was a tremendous relief. Finally something that makes sense and not feeling alone anymore. I always knew in my heart that the true Islam couldn't have been that way of thinking. Though the journey towards reaching the ultimate truth doesn't end at this video, alhamdulillah that I'm finally beginning to see the light that I couldn't see whilst under the dark grip of the Najdi Da'wah movement.

Ya Shaykh, you're a dearly beloved teacher of mine and I've benefited from you so much. I've come closer to the deen and feel pride in my Islam. And I've come to know and love my beloved Rasūl SAW through your works in conveying this 'ilm to us. I sincerely pray that Allah SWT make your scales heavy with all the khayr that you've brought to us all and long may it continue. This was really enlightening from the discussion on paganism, to the history of the Saudi state and your personal journey. I noticed how you were constantly sighing throughout but I just want to add it doesn't go unnoticed your reluctance to take cheap shots at other Muslims regardless of what you face. May Allah always aid you from His Divine Aid.

It is definitely one of the reasons I stayed away from religions for such a long period of time. The cynicism and arrogance involved in claiming right is rather bothersome and so unnecessary. This saying of yours was completely on point:
"The reputation of the najdi salafi movement, in many communites, is that it just causes havoc ..."
This is precicely what they did in my community. For generations, my forefathrs, my late father and mother, all of us, tried to simply be humble muslims. We believed, we prayed, we fastd, we tried to do good. Then, in the late nineties, all of a sudden a few of these "salafies" came freshly from having studied in Medina and literally started causing havoc - conflicts, curses, accusing all of us of being kafir, beating imams, proclaiming everything haram and kufr - while we, the community, were what you would classify as sunni / hanafi. Thank Allah that did not last long, because in a few years their "movement" started to fizzle just as fast as it had come - and many of them left the faith completely and today you can find them in bars, drinking alcohol and what not. Which shows that their iman is always SUPERFICIAL and they concern themselves with the most minute things like the length of ones beard or trousers, while their hearts are void of any faith or empathy.

Theres a practical problem najdism causes for the youth etc, like in my past as a salafi, I wanted to marry a religious person but there was only a handful, then having to reject them because you disagreed on minor issues of handplacement in salah or you did not like what headcovering he is wearing or which mosque he prays or his parents are apart of different movements. This was a minefield for me as being not married was becoming fitnah for me and a struggle as I was coming from a very troubled home and difficulty.
Imagine having to oust a potential religious spouse as kafir???
Having a refuting mentality will cause practical day to day problems in interacting with muslim ummah.
Like another example imagine a muslim sister or brother come to you for help because they have financial difficulty or poor and they are from another sunni movement, if you pass them money, does this count as zakat because you think their movement is kafir? Seriously its not practical.

Go re read that ayah and it's tafsir brother. You missed the whole point of this lecture or you didn't pay enough attention. The verse you quoted is merely Allah swt condemning for the shirk for which they already had I.e. they already ascribed Lordship to these other gods then they hoped these Gods would intercede on their behalf to Allah.
Meaning you cannot worship something without believing in it as so.e sort of lord.
A Muslim doesn't ascribe Lordship to any of the saints or Prophets or whoever they ask for help.
If they do with the belief that these saints and Prophets are independent of Allah swt and are the ones who can give and take then that is shirk.
So while undoubtedly there may have been haram practices as such in the time of ibn abdul wahhab they in no way warranted mass takfir like ibn abdul wahhab did.
Scholars wouldn't have sat around watching people commit shirk and said nothing and its also why ulema were angry at ibn abdul wahhab because he created a huge misconception and notion and used it to justify rebellion and takfir.

@Yasir Qadhi, assalaamu alaikum everyone, brother Yasir, thank you for uploading this video, with no offence intended whatsoever, please make more of this public, not just to your students but also to the general muslims who watch your stuff on youtube, please. i can imagine that no doubt you will get alot of backlash for doing this because you are questioning and clarifying the status quo, but the truth seems that in fact you are bringing back an understanding that by far pre dates the modern idea of islaam today, and that can only be a good thing. i feel like the religion that i accepted has been hijacked, that i have been duped, mislead and lied to. im a revert/convert, most of the material available to me when i first too shahadah was in english, scared of not following blindly opinions of men, insearch of 'truth' at first i always thought the 'salafi' understanding of islaam as i understood it was the only one based totally on evidence and sound understanding of our texts. Now when i question things i am labelled either as a kaafir, or mubtadi? and told, 'you dont know more than the sahaabah, and we (salafi) follow that understanding. this has given me so much turbulence and shaken my emaan to the core if im honest, and makes me feel like a closet munafiq for having questions and not agreeing with the pack mentality. i have seen families divided, fathers disowning their children, people happy to partake in 'helping' the oppressed in other countries leaving behind elderly parents, children and a wife..... i can go on but i know you understand.... My point and request is that you try to help so many like me by uploading more videos that take a deep dive into this.
A question for you my brother, after understanding what you have mentioned in this video, where do i go from here? where do i get a proper balanced understanding from? should i look into salafi videos and texts? or hanafi? maaliki? etc...
we're in a crisis bro, some of us are losing our faith....
thank you once again, sorry for making this such a long comment guys.....
May Allah cause good to reach you wherever you are and to us all, ameen..

Our scholars are dear, yet the Truth should be dearer! This video and the one on the reality of bid'ah really resonate. Your concluding words and remarks really deserve a special place in the annals of responses to Neo-Salafism and many other sectarian conflicts in our Ummah. It reminds me of some words I read attributed Sheikh Muhammad Ilyaas Al-Kandahlawi-rahimahullaah-the great daa'ee popular with Jamaa'tud-Da'wah Wat-Tableegh that he was asked about the "saved group" and he answered,"The one working on saving the rest!" Dr. Yasir Qadhi, jzk for the lecture. I heard all of it and I agree that we should look at issues from the other's perspective and without any sort of emotional attachments so that we do not read things into it in order to be objective. I follow this model now as well and whenever I hear those within the Sunni paradigm who disagree with me, I try my best to hear them out and be charitable as possible to their position and will even consider them being right and me wrong when hearing their position. I think this is the best way to be objective and really listen. I now only listen for consistency in thought and how they developed their position.
Having said that, I would really like your take on something you mentioned in the talk. When it comes to things which are EXCLUSIVE for Allah (forgiving sins, granting a child, healing, providing rain, etc.), would it be shirk for someone to believe that a wali or prophet could DO this at will BECAUSE Allah has granted this wali or prophet the power to do it? If no, then can we have some examples of reputable sunni scholars who have EXPLICITLY said that it is NOT shirk? Most arguments that deal with istighatha from even among Sufis relate to shafa'ah and request for supplications. Even Tahirul Qadri in one of his lectures argues from the position that calling out directly to the Prophet (pbuh) for a need is just majazi and it is Allah who does it. You gave the example of Eesa but I have trouble accepting that as a basis for its possibility because Eesa was restricted and did not have open license to resurrect/heal whomever he wanted whenever he wanted. It was just for restricted instances from what I understand to prove a point that he is indeed Allah's messenger. Wasn't the whole point of such a miracle to show the people that ONLY ALLAH can do such things so this guy HAS to be a true prophet. I don't see this as sufficient evidence to say 'well if we can believe it can happen with eesa, then one can believe it can happen with any saint without us considering it shirk'. Yes, I understand that you consider the practice a bid'ah but just trying to understand your negation of shirk in this instance.
Also, how much can we stretch this? What if an ignorant Muslim believes that there is a cow that Allah has granted power to heal at will and so he begins to call out to this cow to heal him when he is sick. Would it not be shirk as long as the caller believes that it is Allah who has granted this cow such a power? What about if someone believes Allah has given a particular entity all divine powers to do as it please at will, can the caller come out of shirk as long as he believes it is Allah who has given such an entity such powers? What I mean is that is there any limit to this concept or no?
Everything you said makes sense in the context of shaf'ah and request for supplications but I'm finding it difficult to reconcile it with the case of actions considered exclusive to Allah mentioned above.
I'm genuinely curious and open to correcting any misunderstandings on the subject from my side.
    Jzk.

      @IamOmarMalik2 3 роки тому

agree 100%. how far do you stretch this. the cow example is spot on. do we in our love for ummah and not judging anyone, not even question that, and say as long as intention is correct, its not shirk?

    • @saracentiano
      @saracentiano 3 роки тому +2

Okay, wanted to ask you. What do you mean to what extent we limit this?
You mean when it stops becoming haraam and begins to be shirk? Shaikh YQ has told that it is based on niyyah, on intention. When the person believes that the deceased actually has powers independent of Allah.
Most Brelwis do not believe that. Most believe that the deceased are not independent of Allah. They believe they are close to Allah.
But even then Shaikh YQ says this is haraam. So why would you call it shirk? Wouldn't shirk be associating partners with Allah? Like actual smaller Gods or deities?

Make complete sense. One must be quite arrogant to think that Allah guided only him and the ones that think like him.

Me being Bareilwi right from my childhood I know how much shirk goes on and no book but quran is the one which opposes this yes considering everyone with rigidness is not the right attitude but keeping the basic principles intact is the true essence of Islam and every accommodation for further things comes after that

@@MM-mc8hs Dude, I am sorry but my intention is not to belittle you, he just explained it that they are not giving the idol an independent rububiyat, so when a sahabi asked prophet S.W.T to be his companion on jannat, does that make him a Kafer, if you have not listened to watched the watch it and Quran says “To be just” he is not giving fatwa that Istigatha to grave is halal he is simply saying that it is haram and open doors for shirk but not shirk. I believe you are either lying that you have watched the video or you did not understand, I still personally consider this to be shirk to be on the safe side but just be just and listen to what he has to say!

Assalamoualaikum ya sheikh. I just want you to know although you are not free from mistakes like the rest of us, I love you for the sake of Allah despite the hate that is thrown towards you because of your efforts in speaking the truth and being unbiased in light of the way of the salaf, scholars, and the sunnah of the prophet peace and blessings be upon him. I ask Allah to guide me and you to that which is correct and to be pleased with us in this life and the next.

      Basically stated:
Those that do such things & are Muslim, they have carried out actions that are Haram. Unless, they actually believe that these 'idols' have the power/divinity to grant. In which case this would be shirk.
Najdi view point: Any that approach other than Allah seeking assistance, have committed shirk & as such have left Islam.
So fundamentally the argurement is over whether this is shirk or haram. What is the difference between a Muslim that states this is haram & one that states this is shirk?
One that has committed shirk according to some can never be forgiven.
Someone who has committed a haram action still has the hope of Allah's Mercy, access to Allah's Mercy is still there.
If, 90% of all Muslims do such things then in accordance to those that assert that this is shirk: that 90% cannot be forgiven. If that is the case then how should one live out the rest oh his or her days & years of life if one committed shirk?
      Allah knows best!
Wisdom is the appropriate application of knowledge.
May Allah guide us all. Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen

Thank you very much, you have helped me a lot in many things. I am learning from you for years, Mashallah, Zazakallah Kairan. May Allah gift you Jannattul Ferdaus. What we hear on UA-cam right now, without an explanation, we will get scared and possibly think badly of you. Of course, each of us knows what is right and what is wrong. Allah put that in us. But to be a true Muslim we have to be able judge from all sides.
When I got into Islam, I was very strict with myself and with others. May Allah gift us peace and bring us all together in Jannat. Zazakallah Kairan, Assalamuailakum.
