    I've seen a lot of clowns out there trying to create installation videos for spacers. Thank you for the safety tips, proper installation and the torque process ( 50 first, then 100) I just put mine on yesterday and followed your instructions to the letter. Really appreciate the time and effort you took in putting this video together.

    Great advice on the star pattern when tightening lugs! Every time I get my tires balanced/rotated, I have to come home and loosen/re-tighten the lugs because the shop torques the lugs incorrectly and it binds the wheel on the rotor. The bind causes a shimmy and feels out of balance. Dang it. So much for lifetime rotate and bind. Err, I mean balance. Many thanks for all of your vids. You rock, dude.

    I used the red locktight. Wonder if that's part of why I started breaking lugs. Time to switch to the blue.

    I’ve always been a little skeptical about the safety of spacers so it’s nice to have this informative video from a trusted source. Good stuff, the YJ has a mean squat with those spacers on it. Looks awesome.

      Thanks! Glad you like the video and my rig! I know a few people that run spacers. They havent had any issues with them. But, like I demonstrated in the video, they loctite and torque every bolt. Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!!

    put JL tires and rims on my 88 YJ. The front studs are just enough to get 10 threads. The rear wheel studs are too short. Replace them w3ith Dorman part # 610-234.1 and then the rears will be perfect. The 610-234.1 are for the rear 627 Knurl and 1 5/8. The 610-449 iw .627 Knurl and 1 15/16 on my 89 I had to trim them a little so they didn't stick out past the adapter. Also JLs are 14mm instead of 1/2 inch. You can still use the 1/2 inch nuts but they need to have a bigger cone than stock. Coyote 56K542 is a box of 20 bulge acorns for about 20 bucks. Hope this helps.

    I agree whole heartily with the jack stands but I also leave the jack in place and let the pressure onto the stand and the jack as a back up, I also like to take the wheel and slide it under the vehicle while I do my work. Would also have liked to see the clearance you had with the wheels turned after installation to see the clearance to the springs. Thanks for the video.

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  5 років тому

      I totally agree with you on the Jack and tire. I normally do just that. Don't know why I dropped that ball that time by not having the tire and jack in place. Sometimes my attention being divided by the project and the camera kinda sidetracks me. If you watch the video you can see the space difference to the leaf spring before and after. Thanks for adding a great safety suggestion for others to read! Have a great day!

    Good info, thank you, Chuck. I'm not there yet on my TJ but this will go in my TJ file. And you are right. When I was a cop in Hawaii you can not have any part of the tire outside the fender flair. I'm doing my shocks next week. Thanks for that info too. After that the valve cover gasket. I did the trans pan already.

      Update: just installed new spacer/adapters.. installed 18" jk wheels on my yj. that are 5 on 5 bolt pattern... one thing u discovered are they need to be hubcentric.. meaning that ring on top .... with out that ring your relying only the studs to hold on the wheel..
      I have an adapter/ spacer that holds the spare on the back and it doesn't have the ring, but its not holding up the weight of the jeep.....

    Hello! Do you periodically recheck your spacer torque or does Loctite negate the need for that? If you do recheck regularly, how often would you suggest? It’s now been 4 years since your video. Have you run into any issues?
    Thank you very much for your videos. You are both fun and informative to watch! You’ve helped me do a lot of work I my YJ. I hope the world is treating you well.

      I took them off about a year ago. I never had any issues with them. I would check them occasionally whenever I thought about it or whenever I was working on the Jeep. The loctite is a must for me just for added peace of mind.

    Hey one trick i use well need the brake pedal held a good size block and a Scissor Jack with the 3/4 nut that operates it Put the block on the paddle in the scissor Jack between the sea and the block and take an impact in just raise up that scissor jack to price down your paddle see scissor jacks have their uses lol

    Have you ever seen a spacer come loose at 65 mph??? Was following a new truck and it had one come off... The asphalt ate the rotor and brake assembly plus it shifted the axle... I'll bet that guy will check and recheck his from now on... He had not rechecked them like it was suggested... I'd say not including the tow it cost him $200 or more for just a little bit of time... That was an eye opener for me... Have a great day...

    I really enjoy your channel and I learn a lot from it! I have a 95 YJ and was wondering if adding spacers messes with the turning radius of the Jeep? My Jeep have a tight turning radius which I like. Sorta don’t want to lose it.

    You should have sanded the rotor hat with a two inch, 8o grit pad, pneumatic sander. I would have, and did, changed the studs.

    I put in for in leaf springs not the standard leaf springs in a YJ should I replace the shackles and put in the boomerang type shackles is it necessary or not

    I got a set of KSP lug centric spacers. They are 6061 T6 2". I keep hearing hub centric are the way to go for safety reasons. I installed them using the installation specs (star) with lock tight on my Jeep YJ. Should I switch them out for hub centric?

  • @rajseattle
    @rajseattle 5 років тому

    Thanks. Very timely for me. Are you at all concerned about excessive bearing or seal stress?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  5 років тому

      If the wheels were offset anymore then yes. But only a little because Jeep bearings are fairly easy to change. Another thing to consider is the wheel offset. The wheels I have on that Jeep came off of a Lincoln so the offset sits in deeper than factory Jeep wheels. Putting the spacers on may have pushed the wheels a bit farther out than a factory Jeep wheel offset but not by much. So that wouldn't drastically load the bearings that hard. If I had wheels that had a shallow offset then add spacers, I'd be replacing bearings often. I know a guy that once had a 4x4 S10 with wheels that stuck way out (very shallow offset). He would go through bearings in less than a year. Thanks for dropping in! Have a great day!!

    What size tires are you running and how much lift?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  Рік тому +1

      35 x 12.5 tires. Lift is 2.5" suspension using Chevy S10 leaf packs. Body lift that the previous owner installed is 3". Part 1 of the junkyard suspension lift: ua-cam.com/video/RB00_P2XrEY/v-deo.html . Part 2: ua-cam.com/video/_rYMUJMIZuM/v-deo.html . You really should watch both parts before attempting. Thanks!

    Why install wheel spacers

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts  3 роки тому +1

      When tires rub the springs or somewhere inside the wheel wells. I honestly recommend getting different wheels with better offset to push the tires out a bit.
