    Good video Dale. Your locations are same as here in SE Kentucky. Those logging operations always have that scrap pile at the log landing where they’ve been loading the logs. There are tram roads in every direction like wagon wheel spokes that all end up at that log landing. I’ve caught a few in buckets. I like to wait until end of season too. Most hunting seasons are over here by Feb. I like that trench set. Sometimes I’ll hack out a three foot trench in the side of a thick road into the weeds and grass and put something back in there to see. A handful of feathers all the way in sure helps. I’ll scatter the grass and weed debris out into the road. First step in is the pan. I’ve found those more open places your more apt to catch a nice Tom too. I commend you for making these in this hot weather.

    great tips on flagging . the trench set with the skull was awesome . working on a video now with the best looking spot i have ever found using google earth to find , a narrow land bridge between the river and lake .

    2 most important things in my personal opinion (aside from location and actual set-up) is #1. Use feathers as flags and around the trap. Egg sinkers and swivels help keep it from tangling. #2. Setting your trap just barely to the right of your bait/hole. Cats tend to work from the right of a bait site.

      @@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 yea man, I'm always looking for new ideas. You're information is very practical for those just starting out, I liked it. I just happened to stumble across this video and voice my opinion. And like you said, legalities and the hunt in general is different everywhere you go. Kinda cool to see how yall do it up there where you are.

    Thanks for posting this. I always want to know about hot to get them the simple way. Too many try take it harder then it is. About 2 years ago I caught one in my coyote set. In the county I am in there is no open season in Iowa. I had the game warden help me to let it go . It was a nice big male .

      Thanks for watching Paul. Yea there are too trapline wizards using trick sets the complicate things. Just put the trap in the ground . If you're on location it'll happen.

    Great tips thku! Question if you have time. Ever use your own urine? Rather than buying specie specific urine?
    Thx.

    Awesome video Dale. And yes that Shawn Allen guy is ridiculous. Most everyone I know that traps has had problems with him in Facebook. He is by far a know it all and he has done everything under the sun. Lies more than anyone I have ever known also. Just block him and move on.

    You sure are getting me all jazzed up for trapping season with these videos Dale, good stuff, good information. Ever had much luck with bottom edge sets on the water line? I was thinking about taking a spring off my 220's, making them a 210, to use for bottom edges. Any thoughts? I hear mink will hit a 220 no problem under water. Appreciate it.

    On your bucket sets, do you have a preference on trigger up or down?….Or trigger in or out?

    • @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531
      @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531  Рік тому +1

      Straight down Josh. I've never seen a cat resist any to go right in.

      I’ve been using the bucket sets for years around my coyote locations just to eliminate the “garbage” before they make it to my yote steal. Crazy effective on coons, possums & skunk. Luckily we can use 220’s on dry land. Do you have a preference on bucket color? I’ve had the best success with white buckets on coons. Didn’t know if it made any difference with cats.

    • @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531
      @billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531  Рік тому +1

      Ive used all colors of buckets. Ive never noticed that they prefer 1 over the other. But you need to know that its not a high percentage high performance cat set. It will take cats but id hate to try to make a seasons catch with it
