I agree. It really takes a balance. Like Dalí, whose technique made him stand out from the other surrealists, he was also deep in the artistic form as well. The art aspect shouldn't be forgotten and should be above titles. Both sides are important, but true master pieces come when the two sides are combined.
""C''est si beau"...Oh~" That line is quite funny when my head hears it in FrenchYou just mentioned something that happens in a lot of art fields I dabble in, theater, speechmaking, even cooking, there's always a group of people who will insist on a "one true way"" of doing things until that way eventually dies out due to old age and they scramble for revitalization. I'm old enough to have gone through a few of these cycles already, so you could say I am quite used to the annoyance. (laugh) Take heart, because pure instrumentals haven't quite gone away, if the hugeness of video game music orchestras prove. People pay huge ticket fees to go to orchestral live events of Genshin and other video games with good soundtracks, something I am sure will blow the mind of any academic you mention this to. And its not all old people going too! People are going to love what they love in the end~
That's funny! 🤣 Yes, it happens everywhere a group tries to put a gate to control. In all art forms, and outside of art too. I'm also used to it, but this time, I saw it happening to kids like they're horses in a race. Yes!!! Music in gaming is huge! They compose these amazing orchestral works. It is very immersive, and it speaks to everyone. I love that.
Great (and sad) story. All those kids who are forced to study classical piano... I never learned how to read sheet music. Can't play anything from sheet music...

It is sad, for sure. It's great to learn to read music and have great technique, but some people take away the joy and magic of music from these kids.
