I feel PewDiePie had a big part in reviving some peoples interest in Minecraft with his series.
He's the main reason a lot of adults got back into it.
A lot of let's play channels started copying him and enjoyed the game.

It’s impossible to say that Dream wasn’t at least partially responsible for getting us out of the Minecraft dark ages, and Philza did basically nothing. Obviously, pewdiepie started dreams career, but Dream kept the Minecraft train going for a lot longer than it would have been.

1.12 was an amazing update for anyone who enjoys building. Concrete is truly one of the best blocks ever made, and having much more color options helped a ton.
If I'm correct, 1.12 also changed the wool color to be more vibrant.

Aquatic update, it escaped the dark age after the aquatic update. Which got the attention of several famous UA-camrs, aka pewdiepie, as well as dream. A lot happened in 2018, 2019 which made minecraft popular again. But this update was mostly the start of it.
I agree, even though the update for me was really boring. I enjoyed watching peediepie’s playthrough
I'll always find it funny that the most active I've ever been on Minecraft was in the "Dark ages" of it and pretty much stopped playing just as it got out of it.

Yeah 1.12 is one of the greatest update I've ever experienced playing Minecraft. They've added so much colors & variations to Minecraft pallette that I, not even a builder myself, really appreciated this update

Different to bedrock. I argue the dark age was after update aquatic, the last update to legacy editions. Or after the nether update. Ever sence then mojang has been "balancing" everything or adding stupid feature. Idk you might count that as the new era but there is just so much unused stuff and more older features are getting discarded

I played during the dark age, it was as fun as ever. Granted, the updates were small, but tbh I kinda liked it. They all had a very specific theme and didn't flood you with new stuff like some of the newer updates.
