I really love that video, please make it a serie ! I've been watching Alyssa for years because of her "Don't buy, reuse what you have to create these looks" and your video was really great/ a source of inspiration. It's super interesting to see how some small swaps can change the look/vibes and show your personnality. Keep the good content and your awesome personality :)
A tip for you guys if you dont have pants that are sinched on the bottom, you can use 2 hair ties and scrunch the extra of the pants / jeans inwards, tucking the fabric into the ties.😊
Fellow thick thigh/glute gal. I have long legs compared to my torso (which one would assume gives a lengthening effect) and broad shoulders. However, I also have a lot of visual weight in my legs because my femurs are what gives the length and I have 20+ years of power sports stored in those muscles. I've found that a lot of trends tend to emphasize heft vs length. I love a chunky shoe because it brings visual symmetry to my broad shoulders and glutes. But, I run into the same problem as you with chunky sneakers. What counteracts the weight of a chunky sneaker for me is keeping the ankle profile low - sneakers that stop at the widest part of my ankle (the joint itself) do exactly what you described and is what I avoid. I found the New Balance 327's give the chunky but keeps the low ankle profile of the Sambas. I also avoid dark coloured shorts/mini skirts. It just adds more visual weight to the most robust part of my legs. Lightening up the colour to reduce contrast with my skin tone in these items has helped tremendously in keeping a long visual line and reducing truncation.
I absolutely love your videos! I’ve had a lot of fun learning how to dress well, how to zero in on buying pieces that will work with tons of outfits, and how to make outfits that are unique and “me,” without having to go buy more! Your videos make me feel not crazy because I can’t afford to go buy new clothes all the time, and have thrifted much of what I have. Your videos have helped me figure out what I actually like, declutter what I don’t, and then only buy things that will actually work with what I already own! Thanks!!!
The Matilda outfit - try ankle socks instead of no-show with chunky sneaks, a scoop neck tank or cami instead of the halter style, shorter hemline of the shorts or biker workout shorts, and KEEP the blazer.
I had the exact same feedback - I think it can totally work but you need to roll the shorts-legs up. The way they finished too low is primarily what threw off the proportions compared to the pinterest shot. Otherwise AWSM! :)
@@sarahreilly4013 the length was definitely too long and the waistline was too low. She needs either have the shorts tailored or to pick a different style entirely. She has a great shape but I understand how difficult it can be to dress an athletic build once you added muscle mass. It can feel a little foreign but you should adjust your attire to help accentuate your frame. You want to dress your body to create an hourglass shape/ X frame. Bottoms should hit at the smallest part of the waist. If you have tiny ankles add some “weight” by changing the type of socks or shoes you usually wear. I cannot wear ballet flats bc they look so disproportionate to my legs and body. My feet look so tiny! On the upper half, accentuate the shoulders but create a little femininity with a lower neckline. Halters are great if that is the area (shoulders) you want to showcase, then opt out of the oversized blazer and go with something more cropped. If you’re going to west the over sized blazer, definitely add a low crew, scooped, or plunging neckline. Style & fashion is an art form and it’s so beautiful to execute.
I have loved that blazer tank and shorts look forever and the thing that railroaded it for me is that I am a pasty white little Irish rose, whose blue veins can be seen across a room. I used to fake tan, but I’ve stopped because time, mess, cost and I don’t like it, but my legs look neon white. I’ve addressed it by wearing black trainers. It breaks up the long pale leg and the black picks up the shorts. I’m a lot happier in the look work a darker shoe. I would not have believed the difference a tan makes, even if it’s faux.
I just wanted to jump in and say that to me the sneakers look absolutely fine on you :) of course the matter is how you feel in them, just wanted to point out that they don't look ugly or whatever 😊
Thanks for sharing the tip about searching for specific clothing items to build outfits around on Pinterest. I have boards for specific items I own such as “black and white horizontal striped skirt” “black quilted shoes” “denim skirt” “green blazer” etc where I put outfit ideas based on actual clothing items I own and want to style.
Loved watching you style outfits based on your taste-trying to go through some of my clothes that I dont reach for and see if I need to declutter anything. Surprised that I only had a few pieces that I didn't like. Although have been trying to condense my clothes for the last year. Happy to start wearing something different other than tank tops/jeans.
I love how you think about making an outfit that you take for inspiration “yours”. It’s very cool and interesting to watch. Please do more of these videos!❤
I agree with the Matilda Djerf outfit! I am more of a pear shape and chunky shoes with shorts make me look chonkier 🥲It’s better with a ballet flat! I love your recreation too!
Christina: Thank you for the inspiration. Your content is always time well spent. Thank you also for Songmont discount. I got the drippy bag in olive suede ❤.
I want to add on to your point about getting a lot of comments that these are boring outfits. I feel like even those of us who like a bit more color in our wardrobe can take these looks and make them our own. I mean, I love a good all black/all dark outfit, but that first inspo picture reminded me of a similar outfit I've found on pinterest except the person used an orange blazer and dark green pants. And it still looked fabulous! I'm wondering if I can try it myself with my barrel jeans and plaid blazer...
I agree, so much. Recently when I was looking for cute Samba 'styling' and outfit inspo, I felt like a lot of them used the same colors and nothing outside of a neutral/black palette. While I like all of that, I do love pops of color and they're kind of my thing. But then I came across a lady with a khaki blazer, concert tee, cropped jeans and bright green Sambas and it was very inspiring to me do do some similar looks with the very brightly colored Pumas I own already.
I did this last winter with dressy shorts and wound up wearing them SO much with black tights and boots. Most recently I've gotten so many really great styling ideas for a Samba type sneaker, dressy and casual. Honestly when I bought them (Reebok dupes) I felt cheesy but with the Pinterest ideas I've worked them into some amazing looks.
Thanks for the tip to show more skin with the third type of outfit. For a long time, I tried pairing my oversized blazer with classic t-shirts, but none of the colors worked. I followed your advice and tried it yesterday with a top that has a more open neckline, and yes, that's so much better!
Gosh, the all white (and the white blazer) just rocks on you. Contrast is my obsession so I know I’m projecting, soz. But your colouring, your lippy and the white just made me go Awww. Wonderful look. ❤️🔥
Christina, thank you! I'm spending far too much time looking at Autumn lookbooks rather than cataloguing what I actually have. I'm also very prone to wearing literally the same things, and this will be a great challenge to take on board. I'd love to see this more regularly, as I am planning to have the lowest buy year possible next year. Love from the UK.
Hi Christina, I'm from Germany and I`ve been following you for a long time. I am currently moving into a smaller space due to termination of personal use and therefore decluttering.... Your videos help me a lot. I was actually looking for a video on how to organize a small storage room in the basement (or attic etc.) but I couldn't find anything here on your channel. In my new appartment, the basement is so tiny it's scaring the s*** out of me 😂 I need to get rid of a ton of things. I think it's really hard to decide on what to let go, especially when it comes to childhood memories or stuff that I heritaged from beloved ones...
These are my favorite videos. I love watching the process of the recreation and how you might modify for what is already in your closet. Really gets my creative edge working! Thanks so much😊
Your videos are so helpful! The way you point out details you can change to make it fit you and your style better are so helpful because they’re things I wouldn’t even think of when trying to recreate an outfit 💛 your tips have really been helping my branch out and wear more of my fun pieces
Christina, I love that you don’t try to copy the examples exactly. Thank you for the inspiration. In look one I preferred the sandals on you and look three I would add a red bag for the pop of colour in place of the red shoes.
Long-time viewer, first-time commenter - just wanted to say I loved this video so much, please make it a series! As someone who really digs the sporty/minimal vibe but is also trying to look put together enough for a management role in tech, I've taken a ton of inspiration from your style evolution and the way you interpret other looks. Also love seeing Ukrainian-Canadian representation!☺Слава україні!
What a great video, thank you! So inspiring to shop my own closet and have fun with it. Thanks for all the thought you put into making your videos, we can tell there’s a lot of hard work behind it 💛
I'm definitely shopping my closet as much as possible this upcoming Fall; however social media is tough to navigate peacefully without being bombarded by trends and opportunities to spend money.
i’m definitely copying outfit 3 but substituting a square neck cropped top for the tube top so i can wear a regular bra. I love your shop your closet videos!
Great video! You did such a good job choosing wearable ways to shop your closet and yet fresh. I joined and clicked your links for the lists and IG isn't linking. Just thought you would want to know. Can't wait to see more!

Great. I loved the first look. I didn't like the last look. The lady in the last look had a proper tan and I think without tanned legs it just looks "off". I have blue/white legs and never go bare legged without leg makeup or some fake tan. Unless I am on holiday I rarely have my legs on show.
Thanks for your videos which are really, really useful. Useful seems like a boring word but as an idea, it isn't! -- Would you consider telling us your fitness story and sharing your workout(s)? As a former fit person looking to get it back, I am curious.
