As a Thin Lizzy fan I am glad others out there still listen to this great music! This song I used to play when I was feeling down in the dumps...maybe it sped up the recovery process by bringing out all the pain. Great song!!
I will never have the chance to shake hands with this great man, maybe in some other lifetime... but his music lives on, and it's with us every day. Every day.
Greatest love song ever, great tempo change at the end, great leads throughout, greatest vocal. Makes me proud to be irish!!! If i ever stop listenin to lizzy please shoot me. I wish there was a music video for fools gold, the intro cracks me up and the vocal is wicked!!!!! PHIL IS GOD!!!
ty Philo,,RIP my brother,,,you are totally AWSOME,,thx for the memories, you were lent to us for a short time here on this earth,,''you are definently an insipration!
john sykes and scott gorham are my favorite lizzy guitar lineup... though i like watching live and dangerous era cause phil seemed to enjoy it so much more back then...
Wooh Yeah ! RIP Phil Lynott, with tunes like that you'll be remembered for the best ! Lizzy were in a category of their own, apart from the rest... Feeling, feeling & more feeling !
I use to listen Thin Lizzy in the 80´s and I was VERY sad when I heard about Phil´s death in 1986. This is a great ballad, but for me the the greatest TL song is, without a doubt, The Cowboy Song (and of course Roisin Dubh!).
This is such a good song. I SO love the Sade cover of it. But here are the guys that made this beautiful song for us. Great wrighting! They can take pride in this preformance all their days.
I've seen lizzy play that song live twice a year since 1975, on lead guitar I've seen Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Midge ure, Snowy White, Gary again and then John Sykes. I think thats the best one ever, and Scott just got better, and better.
FACT CHECK: GARY MOORE wrote the original song and brought it to Thin Lizzy. It is GARY MOORE'S guitar work on Night Life. Gary left the band before Night Life was completed, and they dubbed in GARY MOORE'S guitar playing because Robertson could not play it like Gary Moore which is what Phil demanded. The original "Still in Love With You", (with Gary's lyrics and music), is on the Peel Sessions album. On that version, Gary shares lead vocals with Phil. It is so soulful and beautiful--the best.
I saw Thin Lizzy twice. The 1st time Nazareth opened for them at the Orpheum theater downtown Memphis, TN. I can't remember if Gary Moore was on that tour? It was 1978, don't recall the month, but it poured down rain from Corinth, MS all the way to Mempho. I've googled everything I could find but can't figure it out, I know Gary was in there part of 78. Just can't determine when. All I can say it was fantastic.
this is the song you never want to listen to, and realise that it's your current reality. On a lighter note: This song is powerful and full fo deep meaning, and Thin Lizzy rock.
I know this song was written before his wife left him, but isn't it odd that many of the songs Lynott wrote prophesied stuff that would happen later in his life. It's the same thing for "Got to Give it Up". That's the kind of stuff that makes you legendary, along with writing damn good music.
The "Live & Dangerous" version is simply sublime...both Robbo and Scott Gorham play exemplary guitar solo's - actually for me, Gorham's solo is one of the classic guitar solo's of all time. For those that don't understand why its worth actually learning the instrument vs playing Guitar Hero - this explains it! There is nothing like the real deal!
Such a shame He died so young....Thin lizzy will always be my favorite band!! rip Phill!! check : NYB deventer 24-01-2009 It's me doing the first solo at a gig in Holland at a Moluccan party !!!
As a Thin Lizzy fan I am glad others out there still listen to this great music! This song I used to play when I was feeling down in the dumps...maybe it sped up the recovery process by bringing out all the pain. Great song!!
My hero. Thank you God for giving me the honour of seeing this man. What a song and what a talent....Still Out Here xxxxx
