I made one of these as a kid, but we added yarn ties in the corners of the blocks that went through all the layers to keep them together. If you don't sew or tie any of the layers in the middle, I think that as the different fabrics stretch or move around when you wash it, eventually it will have wrinkled and baggy places and the batting might get bunched up.
Please make a cute quilt jacket 😭💕
it's been on my list for forever haha!
yeah it would look very cute!!!
BEGGING
You made this look so easy and doable! I was considering making a quilt out of scrap fabric a few months ago and was scared off because a lot of tutorials make it seem so difficult and all about precision. Thank you for making such an accessible tutorial!!
This reminds me of the quilt I had as a kid! I've just gotten into quilting, and am in the process of laying out the design(it does in fact take forever😂)
The only thing I'd encourage you to do, so your quilt lasts longer, is to maybe tie the layers together with DMC floss! Or you can do a kantha style quilting. I didn't do either with a sample piece, and holy crap, it wadded up the batting so badly in the wash.😭 Ties are definitely easier and maybe more cottagecore looking! Either way, it's a super cute quilt! Thank you for the tutorial!
ive seen people do hand embroidery of flowers on each peice to tie the layers together, which i think is peak cottagecore!
Beautiful colors and pattern. I would advise you sew through all the layers in the ditch. If you want it to survive washing.
I’m sort of early but just wanted to say I love your videos. I’m only 13 and started sewing and making my own clothes a couple years ago and I have made a few of your things. You inspire me to keep sewing everyday!
Can you make something like a hoodie or someone warm with a zipper? Also I love your hair
I have a plan to make a quilt out of old shirts I love that no longer fit/drawn on and a little embarrassing, at the moment it’s this box on my shelf and it hasn’t reached the amount of stuff needed to become a quilt yet. But it’s getting there.
Your hair looks so cute! Great color!
Also wonderful job on the quilt : )
i've been wanting to make a quit with my scrap fabric for such a long time, but was too intimidated!! you made this project seem so easy!! your quilt turned out super cute too!!!
so close to 200k!! i love everything about you- your sewing, your aesthetic, your personality, your hair, u always make my day when u upload, and i'm so inspired to stop procrastinating on my first quilt bc of u
Ahh you are too sweet🥺💛
Oooo that quilt do be looking kinda cozy tho 👀
well, now I think you need to make a cute little patchwork dress. that would be amazing.
god my problem is that when I see someone make something cute, I think "omg I want to make that!" but most of the time I dont have the time or money for it which sucks. maybe someday ill make a quilt. but anyway, its really cute! I can definitely see you having a picnic on it
Cute! I’d make a tiny stitch here and there to keep the batting from shifting.
That looks like such a relaxing sewing project! 🤩 I definitely need to make a quilt myself 🥰 Thank you so much for the video!
you could also use a woolen blanket instead of batting
This is so cute! I made one and used a sheet as backing. I used all old scraps and had old clothes and fabric from my mum that was decades old. Still love it.
You are always inspiring me to do new projects. Definitely going to do a quilt even if it takes me forever.
the colors that you selected are so cute I love this quilt 😍😍😍
working on my first quilt rn
thank you! your tutorials are so helpful! cant wait to make this!!!
This turned out so cute. I’ve been dying to make a quilt and this just sealed the deal. I’m heading to Joann’s in the morning!!! 😍🙌🏽
Thank you for the video. I found this video cause I wanted to make a summer quilt, thinking it would be fun to do over the summer. I'm about to make my second quilt and wanted to thank you for the fun and helpful video
Made a visit to a quilt shop and was SO intimidated! I thought you had to have all these special tools, but for a beginner I like your way much better.
you made quilting look and feel so much more doable and accessible than most tutorials I’ve watched during my “should I try quilting” rabbithole and offered so many helpful tips here! you made my answer go from idk if I can to TIME TO GO TO THE FABRIC STORE
I'm so glad!✨
Oh I would love a Quilt jacket diy !! Ive been looking for a good tutorial on how to do it from scratch but don’t find any !
The colours are everything 💛💛💛
I want to make this now! Often seeing cute fabrics not knowing what to do with it, well this!
Aw maaan I want one. I did start making a quilt a couple of years ago jus5 hand sewing squares but not got round to finishing it yet
I’m a pretty spontaneous person so I just got a couple of squares and started hand sewing them together and then got a bit stuck as I didn’t know what to do next! It’s tea towel size at the moment lol
I love yours though it’s so pretty!
Keen to see the making of your chalk drawing of kiki delivery service that in progress in the background 😀 look just like her
thank you! this was so helpful :))
this was so fun to watch and you explained everything really well!
Fabric prints are awesome
I love the colours! 💛
you vids are sooo good
ahhh thank you so much!
I love quilting! It's sew much fun. I'm much better at quilting than making garments. 😅. Your project turned out very nice!
I love the quilt great job!!
Anyone making out of scraps should iron first so there is less chance of fabric being the wrong size, ask me how I know lol 😅
Just an idea. Was watching Devil Wears Prada. I wish you could remake some of those outfits. You actually look like Anne Hathaway.
Now you need to make a poofy quilt dress tho!!!
Wow ❤️❤️❤️ nice 👌👌👌
this is so cute aahhhh , how much time did it take though ?
What are the fabrics that you used in the quilt
I don’t know how to tell you this babe but every quilt made by hand is, inherently, DIY. Lmao.
OMG Thank you so much for thiss!! And also mentioning how achievable it is, it makes it less intimidating to try it! Giving this creation a go, to give for my partner as present 💝🧵
