In 2014 i moved into a cottage built in 1930, in a shaded 200 year old southern small town on main street (my address was literally on main street) with a big tree in the front, and a wooden sign hanging from a post that said "Piano Lessons" in Pinocchio red print. I taught piano in the front of the cottage, and lived in the back. All decorated with antiques, no wifi and no television. Just reading, practicing, teaching, cooking, and living. I was a 26 year old straight guy and my life was like an old lady's lol. I would meet a girl and her and i lived in the cottage for many years. We got married and live in a large modern subdivision now. But every now and again I'll drive down main and pass that old house and smile.
I was living the cottagecore dream and i didn't know it lol.
Btw the woman who moved in after me has her own little cheese-making business she runs out of the kitchen and she's super nice.

Seems like the equivalent of the Homestead movement, just from different origins and different people

All right the idea that cottage core allows you to escape gender norms really confuses me . Isn't that day and time when gender norms were invented you know back when we started civilization? Also cute little European cottages or european fantasy we're definitely CIS normative so I'm not quite sure where this idea came from more than the fact that people who weren't CIS enjoy European fantasy and European cottages as well. Which I don't blame anyone for liking because they're awesome

I mentioned cottagecore is often used as an escape from the heteronormative society. Meaning, a society which promotes heterosexuality. So, people who are not heterosexual who live in such societies sometimes gravitate or escape to the cottagecore lifestyle because they are free from heteronormative judgment.

ok that makes a lil more sense to me and thank you for responding. Im happy when anyone is able to find joy and peace from the troubles of the world. It still bogels me that there are so many people who cant seem to be happy unless they are forcing there ideals on those that dont agree with them

@@julianasekai she was an amazing lady. If you wrote her, she’d send you a handwritten note that was illustrated. Had to take her a huge amount of time to keep up with the mail.
