It's always bothered me how Americans say "how are you" or "what's up" as a form of a short greeting??? Like if you don't expect an honest lenghty answer why'd you ask? Why not just say "hello" if you don't actually care how the other's doing?😅
Also we don't really say baguette to rolls, except for when it's actually a baguette.. we call it "Semmel"

Also switching from informal "you" to formal "you" is really annoying. "Hallo, wie geht es DIR? Es freut mich SIE kennen zu lernen."

How should someone be greeted? Should I say "how are you doing"

That's very informative thanks, my fiance is Austrian I'm just still learning German, their culture and all that, the things that I've noticed so far is that he is very loving, caring, kind etc, I just love the fact that he's very respectful, I don't know if he's shy but their are some romantic words he'd almost never say lol, he doesn't like it when I tell them stuff like "don't you think drinking 8 bottles of beer is too much" he thinks that I'm strict to ask that

Brötchen werden bei uns nicht als "Baguettes" bezeichnet(warum auch?), sondern als "Semmeln" und sehen auch anders aus.

So you didn't see a Krampus (it's not a dirty word)? Did you watch the "I'ts always sunny in Philadelphia" episode with Nikki and Alexi (S14EP1)? If you ever miss Austria, that might help you over it. You're always welcome to come back here but i've lived in Austria for all my life and for about a year of it in Vienna. That city is my least favorite place in the whole Country. Have fun!

some sort of funny to watch such videos as an Austrian who grew up in Vienna.
I`d like to add one correction though: the small roll that was mentioned with Brötchen in Germany is called Weckerl, not baguette. Baguette is still a long white "stick" of bread like in France or at least kleines Baguett if it is only half size. Everything else is called Weckerl.

Almdudler, sheep roasts, cheap good booze, a salt river, cow pumpkins, sugar beets, the butcher baker and milkeris. Been there a few times. In an ideal world they would make a lot of sense. Not to mention most of the buildings are stone or block. I wouldn't want to live there but it is a beautiful place! 🦄🐷🐞
