To quote a common prejudice about Americans: „When you are an American, everyone outside of America looks like a Communist. And to some of them even half of their fellow Americans are believed to be communists“. So one should perhaps watch this video trough the glasses of an American to understand what they mean. 😉
#1: Where did she see a train like in Harry Potter? There might be some steam trains running for museums and for tourists sakes, but most trains in Germany are less then 15 years old and very modern. #3: Where did this guy see non-rectangular pillows? Some peolple might have sleeping rolls, but that's more a french thing. #6: There are some communists in Germany, but they are rare. I think he's reffering to social democrats. On the other hand: Many Americans believe that even having statutory health insurance or a national health care is a sign of communism. So every industrial country except the USA are communists... #8: Luckily, you do not only see forrests in Germany. #9: I don't know what this guy is talking about. Not about any meal I've ever had in Germany. #11: Also something that is not about Germany, but about Not-US! In most coutries of the world having AC in private households is uncommon. #14: It is 14 months of 60% of your last wages or ~1600€ a month if they do not work in this time, whichever is lower that can be split between the mother and the father where none of both can take more then 12 months. Or the double time if you take half the money but are allowed to work up to 50%. Plus you get some money for each child until they turn 23 or start earning their own money, whichever happens sooner. #15: That's a regional thing. There are regions where this is celebrated and regions where it isn't. Plus the types of costumes is much different from region to region. I wouldn't compare it to Halloween... #26: People shouting 'Heil Hitler' are more uncommon in Germany then they are in some regions of the US. It is illegal in Germany and if you had called the police, that guy would have been in trouble. #27: Yes, the "Schwebebahn" in Wuppertal is a one-of-its-kind worldwide. But before you come to visit you should check if it's running. As it is unique, it is hard for them to get replacement parts if they have technical issues so it happens to be closed for many months from time to time. #30: German choclat is not the best! Choclate from Switzerland is! But it is way more expensive. Although, you should give it a try. And remember: They do not export their best choclate. If you see choclate from Switzerland outside of Switzerland, it is their worst. Whish is still at least as good as germans best and way better then most choclate from elsewhere.
I'm German and I hate Sprudelwasser. Why oh why do my people drink this? Who came up with that? Was that a German, too? Carbonated water without flavour?? :D Not nice, not nice.
*Social democracy exists*
Americans: *COMMUNISM!*
Americans don't know what Communism is. The guy is referring to Social Democracy...
@Astir01 You could be both.
Depends where he went. In Berlin you have a lot of actual communists, not just the political and economic kind but also the violent ones.
#26 looool ,my first intention was ...what do Thomas Müller there°°
