Bought my D25 based on Shawn’s videos. That thing is just the perfect grab-and-go tone machine . Highly recommended. I am currently jonesing for the Dynamis 40. Revv just makes amazing gear. Thanks for the tour, Shawn!
I'd like to know what the main "like" or "specific" job for each indidual amp, what would make you choose one over another for a project. Maybe a small demo of the main likes of each amp
Shawn I saw you play years ago using your Divided by 13 FTR 37. I wasn’t familiar with the brand and dove in researching the amps. Your tone was just brilliant, which led me to the ccc 9/15, which I have today. Being able to select between 6V6s and EL84s allows me the best of two worlds. The amps are so well made, dependable and sound killer. Thanks for inspiring me to track Fred and his amps down.
doh. Im looking for a pedal platform combo - power isnt of concern as I have a Fryette Power station so I can up a low volume or decrease a loud one if needed. On the list. Revv D25, dr Z Max 18, something from /13, Two rock studio sig, Sure Bella, Matchless Lightening probably, possibly DC30.... you have half of those lol.
No apologies needed. I always like to hear and respect your views and recommendations. What a bountiful blessing of gear. Maybe you could demonstrate your favorite, blew your mind, clean, crunch and gain tones? (what amp and guitar got you there. So not from each amp but from your collection.)
The suhr Bella is a great amp, we have one at the studio and it gets used a lot. Kinda surprised no 3rd power amps in the lineup, my wooly coats has been a really great amp, especially live where it can open up. Fun vid, thanks
That was amazing, thank you! Could you take a deeper dive into the amps that don’t get a lot of time on your channel like the /13s and Red Plate. Even better would be examples of how and when you use all of them.
You have a fabulous collection of amps there Shawn. It would interesting to know what you would hang on to if you had to whittle things down to say a couple.
Love the video and seeing all the amps you like. I have a question for you Shawn. In light of Robbie Robertson passing, did you ever meet him and havea chance to play/jam with him? What a great talent, from Bob Dylan's lead guitarist, to "The Band-so many hits (The Weight) to his fantastic solo career (Broken Arrow) Did anyone from REV V amps meet him? **RIP**
Yeah, that was sad news indeed. I've never met Mr. Robertson. You might bring it up in the chat during a Gear and Beer live stream. Maybe one of the boys crossed paths with him.
Wow, what an amazing collection of amps! Questions: which would you take to a small club gig or jam, which one to a medium-sized venue gig, which one to an arena gig? (Or would the answer be the same since the amp could be mic'ed and you'd be using in-ear monitors?)
Great vídeo! How would you compare the Revv dynamis 7-40, that you have reviewed a while ago, to the rest of the Revv amps you currently own ? ( especially the D20, D25 and the generator 7-40 )… Thank you so much for your videos.
Thanks! The 7-40 has quite a bit more headroom being a 40-watt amp over the D20 and D25. The clean channel on the 7-40 is a bit more "modern" sounding as a clean channel whereas the D20 and D25 are a bit more vintage in nature.
I had a WDW rig back in the day for a minute and I loved it but it was problematic on sessions because of the input allocation for the tracking engineer. That being said WDW sounds AWESOME!!! I also had a big stereo rack rig and it was killer but I ended up, as big rack systems were being "phased out" for smaller setups with pedals going the mono route. I'll revert to rack set up I'm sure, at some point. ;)
@@ShawnTubbs I am currently experimenting with different amps in a stereo setup with midi control. Trying to do programchanges with my Dynamis and Dynacord Reference. I have been searching for a REVV midi setup/tutorial for dummies online with no luck. I find it kind of wonky compared to the 35 year old Dynacord, where midi is a breeze.
I really enjoyed the walk through of these amps. Would love to hear the Badger in stereo with a D20. Quick question do you blend the 57 & 121 in your daw as separate tracks or do you blend them together before the hit your interface? Thank you!
Thanks so much! The Badger would sound cool indeed with the D20. Whenever I mic up, for the most part, I use the summing amp in my Chandler TG2. I really like how punchy the Royer 121 and 57 combo sounds through a great analog summing preamp. I will on occasion split the two mics out.
how do the D20, G20 and the D25 compare to each other? I've been looking at the G20; but as a Blues player- I'll never use all that gain. What I have seen is it seems more versatile then the D20.
The D20 and D25 are very similar. The D25 has a bit more headroom than the D20 and is voiced a little brighter. Both amps are based on the "Dynamis" which is a bit more vintage in nature and both are really great pedal platform amps. The G20 is more modern sounding. The clean channel is based on the "Generator" series. The G20 clean channel does take pedals well, but the D20 and D25 are better as a platform in my humble opinion. The G20 also has a second channel that is based on the purple or 3rd channel of the Generator. It's a modern high-gain channel that sounds great but I don't think it would be a fit for you as a blues player.
Question: Are you the Shawn Tubbs who played guitar in The Violet Burning? If so, I met and talked with you in Phoenix about amps about 33 years ago. You said that you had no clue about your rack system or your amp setup. My, how times have changed, yezz..? If you are not... well... disregard the ponderings of an addle-pated old grunch. lol
Do you mean EF 86-style preamp tubes? The only amp I currently have that utilizes that tube is my FTR37 on the "clicker" channel. That channel is similar to the Matchless DC 30 which is also EF86. That being said, I think Fred Taccone is using a 5879 now. My experience with Pentode Preamps is based only on amps I've played which tend to be voiced more British in my opinion.
Yeah, those amps are really different. The REVV doesn't really copy any circuit in particular and has a very unique and modern sound. The Friedman BE 100 DLX really is a Marshall-style amp with Davids's magic added.
Good Lord man! Those are just the amps in that room? I have 2 questions: a) Do you have a large human being that scheps them for you? I'm got a hernia just thinking about it. b) Does your wife have a sister with the same level of understanding? Granted, I'm just a schmuck, not a pro. 😂😂 If I was a first call guitarist, I'm sure I would get more tools. Serious question. If you could only have one of those amps, which one would it be and why?
Haha, well I'm very lucky indeed to have all of those amps. If I could only have one I'd go the pedal platform route so the D13 FTR, D25, and Suhr Bella would be great as stand-alone amps.
I just had a good joke-ing truth pop into my head while watching you do this really good amp walkthrough and your thoughts. The joke is : You kind of have to be biased when you play a tube amp. Dadum. Cha :-)

A revoiced D20 that sounds like the D25 would be my dream pedal platform.
Great video. You do so many demos, it's nice to see what your go to amps are.
Thanks for all the great videos and playing ideas!
Nice gear rundown for the guitar nurds in all of us! Thanks Shawn!

Mesa builds really good amps but I don't have any experience with the Lonestar amp.
enjoyed seeing all the nice amps.. thanks Shawn!

Not boring at all. Very cool! Would definitely like a tour of sounds and applications 🤘. What speakers are in the Bogner and which is mic’d? Cheers!

Loved it Shawn! I am a complete gear nerd so I love videos talking about and showing gear!

What an awesome amp collection. Do you have any advice on how to buy some of these, and hide them from my wife? 🙂
Can you do a comparison with the dynamis and the bella?
Still can't see the D20 with shell casing available to buy?
I enjoyed seeing all these amps and hearing about the specific uses. What Speaker is in the D25 and in the Bogner cab that is miked?
Thanks for watching! The D25 comes standard with a Celestion V30. My Bogner 2x12 has Celestions V30s.
This was awesome to hear
Thanks for watching!
Comparing them would be great.
Thanks! I'll look into that!
For your D25, what speakers are you using? Revv offers either V30 or creambacks...
You have a fabulous collection of amps there Shawn. It would interesting to know what you would hang on to if you had to whittle things down to say a couple.
That's a good question. I tend to lean toward pedal platform amps so I would be looking at the FTR, D25, and Bella.
Interesting, thanks for sharing!@@ShawnTubbs
I will gladly store any unnecessary gear 👍🏽

That Revv amp plugged in with no pedals on a David Crosby album…… mad respect. Keep on, watch every post for real stuff like this…
Thanks so much!
Can I get the new shell case for my Revv D20?
That is what want to know.
We are working on it. We need to have custom corner pieces sorted out and then we'll be good to go. Not sure honestly what the timeline on that is.
Wow, what an amazing collection of amps! Questions: which would you take to a small club gig or jam, which one to a medium-sized venue gig, which one to an arena gig? (Or would the answer be the same since the amp could be mic'ed and you'd be using in-ear monitors?)
Thanks for the question. On in ears, I've got way more flexibility and don't worry about headroom. I would be most apt to use my D25 or the Bella.

Nice tour! Do you ever bring your own rig(s) to sessions? If so, what’s the first amp getting loaded in?
Thanks! It depends on the session. For the most part, I'll bring 3 or 4 amps along. The Bella and D25 are most likely to go.
Really enjoyed watching this video! I mostly use my Revv G20 for playing and recording. What is your favorite IR Cabinet to use with it?
Thanks so much! I pretty much always use the REVV 4x12 with a Royer 121/Shure SM57 Dyn IR.
Great collection! Is the Revv D20 compatible with both 120V & 220V inputs?
Thanks!! You have to order the D20 in each respective voltage.
Do you still have the Morgan dual 20?
Thanks! Great content.
Do you ever run stereo of dry/wet or any other combinations?

Which interface you use ? The ox itself is an interface or just attenuates the signal ? Best Pf
I use an older Apogee Quartet interface. The OX isn't really an interface. It's a reactive load with an attenuator and UA IR's.

Which one if you had a box of pedals?…👍🏻👊🏻
The D25 with pedals. Probably the 120 with no pedals as it's a 4-channel with dedicated EQ.
